  • A bucket-brigade is a way of transporting items where items are passed from one person to the next. The operation of the bucket brigade imitates the cooperative behavior of ants when brood, food or other resources are moved. Koo (2009) presented a bucket brigade-based assembly cell where each worker follows a simple rule: perform assembly operations on a product until the next worker downstream takes it over; then go back to the previous worker upstream to take over a new assembly job. In this way, the flow line is self-balanced without any predetermined job assignment. However, there are some productivity losses related to hand-off and blocking. This paper examines the hand-off and blocking losses and presents a new bucket brigade-based assembly cell where working areas for each assembler is restricted with the help of buffer interfaces. Simulation experiments are used to validate the performance of the new assembly system.

  • As PED(Personal Electronic Device) market has been rapidly grown, the demand on Lithium battery, which is most commonly used power source of PED, also has been increased. Dew to this trend, the amount of Lithium battery air transportation is also increasing. However, it should be treated very carefully because Lithium is one of very explosive metal. So ICAO, IATA and civil aviation agencies try to enhance the safety of Lithium battery air transportation by aircraft certification and operating regulations. To enhance in-flight safety, the aircraft for transporting Lithium battery should equip certified fire extinguishing system. But recent studies find that Halon, currently used extinguishing agent, is not effective on extinguishing Lithium battery fire. Besides, there is no certified Halon replacement for air use and no acceptable specific minimum performance standard(MPS) for Lithium battery fire. For this issue, a study on characteristics and establishing MPS of Lithium battery fire is needed for safe air transportation of Lithium battery.

  • Needs on ensuring compatibility and conformity of equipments that are used in logistics functions - such as packaging, transporting, loading/unloading and storing - are raised. This article presents a classification scheme for analyzing the interfacing characteristics of logistics equipments focusing on standardized pallets of unit load system. International and domestic classification systems are reviewed and analyzed; as a result several problems are issued. Methods to resolve the problems, to specify the attributes of logistics equipments and to represent the semantics among them using semantic web technology are proposed. This study could make it possible to examine the conformities of interfacing equipments automatically.

  • Mail centers play an important role such as sorting and transporting postal items in the process of postal logistics. Therefore, there is need of efficiency measurement of the facilities to reduce the inefficiency of factors. But only few attempts have so far been made at measuring the efficiency of postal logistics hubs. The purpose of this paper is to make a reasonable suggestion for the improvement of inefficient mail centers. So this study found the efficient mail centers and inefficient mail centers using data envelopment analysis(DEA) and compared inputs and outputs of the former with those of the latter.

  • We developed phosphorescent white OLEDs with high efficiency and color stability. By engineering device architecture in which confined excitons within the emissive layer by using adequate interlayer and balanced recombination of charge carriers by using stepwise hole transporting layer system, these WOLEDs showed power efficacy of 43.6 lm/W with CRI = 62 and 36 lm/W with CRI = 72 at $100\;cd/m^2$ without outcoupling enhancements.

  • Through baking process on an interlayer, known as hole transporting layer, varying baking temperature up to 300 degree, which is considered as extremely high for polymer light emitting device (PLED) system, we found interesting relationship between packing density and morphology affecting device performance. Granular morphology shows that as temperature increases, grain size is getting smaller to pack closely and make interlayer harden. Such denser interlayer has temperature dependency of its own mobility, even without clear evidence of degradation of material itself. Its fact proven in a single film also reflects on multilayered PLED's performance like IVL, efficiency, lifetime. It's found that, especially, to enhance lifetime is related with thermal stability of interlayer and its mobility dependency to meet better charge balance. Therefore, it gives us understanding not only baking effect of interlayer, but also material & device designing guide to enhance lifetime.

  • This study experimented to understand the effect of transporting ice slurry through in pipe with valve. And at this experiment it used ethylene glycol-water solution and a concentration is 30wt%. The experimental apparatus was constructed of ice slurry generation tank, turbo flow meter, manometers for differential pressure measuring, PIV system for flow pattern measuring. illumination and along a horizontal circular tube with valve as test section. The experiments were carried out under various conditions, with velocity of fluid at the entry ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 m/s and concentration of IPF is 30%. Also valve open rate is 50%, 75%, 100%.

  • The project for "Development of Advanced Spent Fuel Management Technology" has a plan of a demonstration for the Advanced Management Process in the hot cell of IMEF. The Advanced Management Process are being developed for efficient and safe management of spent fuels. For the demonstration, several devices which are used to safely transport and handle nuclear materials without scattering have been derived by analyzing the Advanced Management Process, object nuclear material and modules of process equipment and performing graphical simulation of transportation/handling by computers. For verification, powder transportation vessel and handling device have been designed and manufactured. And several tests such as transporting, grappling, rotating the vessel have been performed. Also, the design requirements of transportation/handling equipment have been analyzed based on test results and process studies. The developed design requirements in this research will be used as the design data for the Advanced Management Process.

  • Kinesin Superfamily Protein 1A (KIF1A) is an anterograde monomeric motor transporting a subset of synaptic vesicle precursors and plays an important role in neuronal function and survival. Here, f have used the yeast two-hybrid system to identify the proteins that interacts with the tail region of KIF1A. Calmodulin was found to interact specifically with the tail region of KIF1A. Calmodulin regulates many diverse cellular functions by modulating the activity of the proteins that interact with it. KIF1A interacts with calmodulin in the yeast two-hybrid assay, which is proved by immunoprecipitation with calmodulin in brain fraction. These results indicate that KIF1A is associated with calmodulin, suggesting that calmodulin may be a key role in the regulation of anterograde transport of synaptic 1 vesicle precursors.

  • Railroad systems can be divided into the primary function for transporting passengers or freight and secondary function covering diverse environmental factors and interfaces. So, the most biggest and important reason and the goal of railroad systems is to satisfy the need for transportation based on the production and consumption of energy. Especially, the operation of safe systems is the inevitable element for achieving this objective. Performing this can be ultimately satisfied only when the relationship among operators, contractors, suppliers and assessors is established according to their missions. Therefore, we are trying to finding the way of approaching it systematically by reviewing which procedures and methodologies mission performers in various domains have to follow.
