유한요소-전달행렬의 혼합물을 이용한 3차원 구조물의 진동해석 (Vibration Analysis of 3-Dimensional Structure by using Mixed Method of Finite Element-Transfer Matrix)

  • In this study for reduction degree of freedom of dynamic model, a mixed method to combined finite element method and transfer matrix method is presented. This offers the advantages of an automatic reduction in the size of the eigenvalues problem and of a straightforward means of dynamic substructuring. The analytical procedure in this method for dynamic analysis of 3-dimensional cantilevered box beam are described. the result of numerical example is shown to demonstate the efficiency and accuracy of this method. The result form this example agree well those obtained by ANSYS, By using this technique, the number of nodes required in the regular finite element method is reduced and therefore a smaller com-puter can be used.

An exact transfer matrix method for coupled bending and bending vibrations of a twisted Timoshenko beam

  • In this study, an exact transfer matrix expression for a twisted uniform beam considering the effect of shear deformation and rotary inertia is developed. The particular transfer matrix is derived by applying the distributed mass and transcendental function while using a local coordinate system. The results obtained from this method are independent for a number of subdivided elements, and this method can determine the required number of exact solutions for the free vibration characteristics of a twisted uniform Timoshenko beam using a single element. In addition, it can be used as a useful numerical method for the computation of high-order natural frequencies. To validate the accuracy of the proposed method, the computed results are compared with those reported in the existing literature, and the comparison results indicate notably good agreement. In addition, the method is used to investigate the effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia for a twisted beam.

  • A practical method of predicting the sound absorption coefficient for multiple perforated-plate sound absorbing system was developed using transfer matrix method. The proposed method was validated by comparing the calculated absorption coefficients of a single layer perforated plate with the values measured by the two-microphone impedance tube method for various porosity and spacing of the perforated plate. The developed transfer matrix method was further applied to estimate the multiple layer perforated plates and it is shown that the estimated absorption coefficients agree well with the measured values.

  • Combustion instability is a major issue in design of gas turbine combustors for efficient operation with low emissions. Combustion instability is induced by the interaction of the unsteady heat release of the combustion process and the change in the acoustic pressure in the combustion chamber. In an effort to develop a technique to predict self-excited combustion instability of gas turbine combustors, a new stability analysis method based on the transfer matrix method is developed. The method views the combustion system as a one-dimensional acoustic system with a side branch and describes the heat source as the input to the system. This approach makes it possible to use the advantages of not only the transfer matrix method but also well-established classic control theories. The approach is applied to a simple gas turbine combustion system to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the approach.

영향계수의 전달에 의한 환원판이 결합된 원추형 셸의 진동해석 (Vibration Analysis of Conical Shells with Annular Plates Using Transfer of Influence Coefficient)

  • This paper is presented for the free vibration of a conical shell with annular plates or circular plate using the transfer of influence coefficient. The governing equations of vibration of a conical shell, including annular plate, are written as a coupled set of first order differential equations by using the transfer matrix of the shell. Once the transfer matrix of a single component has been determined, the entire structure matrix is obtained by the product of each component matrix and the joining matrix. The natural frequencies and the modes of vibration were calculated numerically for joined conical-annular plates. The validity of the present method is demonstrated through simple numerical examples, and through comparison with the results of finite element method, transfer matrix method and ANSYS. The conclusion show that the present method can accurately obtain natural vibration characteristics of the conical shell with annular or circle end plates.

  • As the size of tanker increase, the analysis and strength prediction of the transverse web frames in a tanker have become important problems. Therefore, several papers dicussed the subject and various method of analysis have been presented. Most of these studies are based on the elastic framework analysis. Framework analysis is carried out by the matrix methods. The matrix methods used most frequently are the displacement method, force method and the transfer matrix method. In this paper, the analysis is carried out by the transfer matrix method. The program has been tested by IBM 1130 and the results of example show good agreements with those by the program of stress analysis, STRESS, which was developed in M.I.T.

영향계수의 전달을 이용한 탄성 지지된 티모센코 호의 자유진동 해석 (Free Vibration Analysis of Timoshenko Arcs with Elastic Supports Using Transfer of Influence Coefficient)

  • When Timoshenko arcs considering the shear deformation and rotatory inertia have elastic supports, the authors analyze in-plane free vibration of them by the transfer influence coefficient method. This method finds the natural frequencies of them using the transfer of influence coefficient after obtaining the transfer matrix of arc element from numerical integration of the differential equations governing the vibration of arc. In this study, two computer programs were made by the transfer influence coefficient method and the transfer matrix method for analyzing free vibration of Timoshenko arcs. From numerical results of four computational models, we confirmed that the transfer influence coefficient method is a reliable method when analyzing the free vibration of Timoshenko arcs. In particular, the transfer influence coefficient method is a effective method when analyzing the free vibration of arcs with rigid supports.

Free vibration analysis of asymmetric shear wall-frame buildings using modified finite element-transfer matrix method

  • In this study, the modified finite element- transfer matrix methods are proposed for free vibration analysis of asymmetric structures, the bearing system of which consists of shear wall-frames. In the study, a multi-storey structure is divided into as many elements as the number of storeys and storey masses are influenced as separated at alignments of storeys. The shear walls and frames are assumed to be flexural and shear cantilever beam structures. The storey stiffness matrix is obtained by formulating the governing equation at the center of mass for the shear walls and the frames in the i.th floor. The system transfer matrix is constructed in the dimension of $6{\times}6$ by transforming the obtained stiffness matrix. Thus, the dimension, which is $12n{\times}12n$ in classical finite elements, is reduced to the dimension of $6{\times}6$. To study the suitability of the method, the results are assessed by solving two examples taken from the literature.

  • Simplified formulae for axial and bending natural frequencies of a bellows are developed using an equivalent thin-walled pipe model. The axial and bending stiffness of bellows is determined using lumped transfer matrix method. Transfer matrix method which includes the rotary inertia is used to calculate the natural frequencies for axial and lateral vibration. The result from the simplified formula are verified by those from as experiment result and a finite element analysis. This comparisons show good agreement with the each other.

전달매트릭스법에 있어서 해의 수험특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Convergence Characteristics for the Solution of Transfer Matrix Method)

  • 종래의 전달매트릭스법과 Frontal 전달매트릭스법에 있어서의 계산의 안정성과 효율성을 검토하고 또 이 두 방법에 선형내삽법을 적용하여 각 방법에 의한 해의 수렴특성을 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 시행값이 작을 경우 두 방법에 의한 계산의 안정성이나 정확성의 면에서 전혀 차이가 없으나, 시행값이 커질수록 전달매트릭스법에 의한 계산의 오차가 증대해지고, 어느 시행값이 이상이 되면 계산이 불안정해 진다. 2. Frontal 전달 매트릭스법은 시행값의 선택에 큰 제약을 받으며, 적절한 시행값을 선택하지 못 했을 경우, 원하는 해를 구할 수 없다. 3. Frontal 전달 매트릭스법에 의한 시행값-진동수행렬식의 값이 plot에 있어서는 불연속점이 존재하고, 이 불연속점을 경계로 plot는 + 혹은 -의 최대값으로 발산하며 다시 새로운 연속구간이 시작된다. 양단의 경계조건이 같을 경우에는 +에서 -로 바뀌는 연속구간내에, 양단의 경계조건이 다를 경우에는 -에서 +로 바뀌는 연속구간내에 해가 존재한다. 4. 선형내삽법을 적용할 때 근사해로의 수렴에 필요한 반복회수는 Frontal 전달 매트릭스법이 훨씬 많으며 한 시행값에 대한 계산시간도 더 많이 필요하므로 근사해를 구하는 전체적인 계산시간은 연속매트릭스법에 비해 훨씬 더 많이 소요된다. 5. Frontal 연속매트릭스법에 의한 계산은 경계조건이나 중간조건에 따라 매트릭스 요소를 기지와 미지로 재배치해야 하고 또는 시행값의 선택이나 불연속구간의 판별 등 많은 제약이 따르므로 프로그램의 작성과 그 실행이 연속매트릭스법에 비해 훨씬 번거롭다.
