  • Purpose: The Asan Hot Springs are adjacent to the Seoul Metropolitan area and have excellent traffic access. However, a steady decline in tourist numbers followed the decline in the urban population. This study aims to provide participants with a hot springs visit as part of their independent tourism experience and then analyze their feedback to obtain meaningful suggestions to enhance local tourism. Methods: We recruited 12 families interested in taking a two-day, one-night tour, including a visit to the Asan Hot Springs. Participating families were grouped into two cohorts (Type C and Type A) depending on whether they included children aged one to ten. Each family answered a survey regarding their overall satisfaction with the Asan Hot Springs and provided targeted feedback regarding hot spring resorts, accommodations, restaurants, adjacent tourist spots, and tourism costs. Results: Most of the families that participated in the study were residents of Seoul, Incheon, or Kyunggi (74.47%); the majority were two-generation families (75%) with children (75%). The Type C group enjoyed the campsite (55.56%) accommodations at the Asan Hot Springs more than their Type A counterparts. Families visited an average of 3.6 places during their stay, and 61.11% of participating families visited entertainment and tourist attractions, including the Type C visit to the thermal bath. Compared with Type A, Type C families spent more on tourism and were more satisfied with the entertainment and tourist attractions experience. Overall, all study participants were satisfied with the thermal sources. Conclusion: Our results indicate that families with children have a higher added value than visitor groups consisting only of adults. Considering the significant impact on the local economy, the Asan Hot Springs and associated tourist attractions and services should be developed with these visitors in mind.

  • This study was conducted to determine the intake and satisfaction levels of Busan local foods in Japanese tourists visiting Busan. The degree of satisfaction with Busan foods and services in restaurants was evaluated. What these tourists wanted to eat after touring Busan was also determined. The subjects consisted of 100 Japanese tourists visiting Busan. Women (including housewives), highly educated people, and people who visited more than four times were predominant in number among the Japanese tourists. Busan local foods eaten during touring were: Dongrae Pajeon (29%), Sengsunhoe (21%), Daejikukbap (10%) and Haemultang (10%). Tourists wanted to taste local foods and answered that eating local foods during the tour was important. A variety of menu items earned a high score of 3.8 (from a highest possible score of 5.0) and various dessert items received a low score of 2.7 for satisfaction with Busan foods. In general, the satisfaction level for Busan foods was low. Tourists responded that they wanted to eat Bulgogi, Pajeon, Bibimbap, Sengsunhoe, and Kimchi jjigae in that order if they revisit Busan, indicating their preference for general Korean foods rather than Busan local foods. From all of the activities included in touring Busan, foods received the highest points (51%) in terms of attraction. As fifty four percent of subjects answered that they wanted to revisit Busan. Busan city needs to prepare tourist restaurants for Bulgogi, Bibimbap, Pajeon, and seafoods (including Sengsunhoe). • This study researched the changing characteristics of Korean visitors to New Zealand after the IMF Crisis(the 1997 Korean financial collapse), through data from New Zealand Tourism Board and an internet-based survey. Since the Korean financial collapse, the Korean visitor to New Zealand has changed from an older to a younger generation. The reason for this change in age is considered clue to visiting as a family group, visiting to study English and the popularity of touring among the young adult generation. Thus the numbers of older generation travelers has decreased steeply, while an increase in younger visitors has occurred and they stay for longer and come during the school vacation period. The preferred or most popular itinerary is influenced by New Zealand's travel infrastructure, the younger travelers seeking adventure tourism, where this is located and package tours fixed itineraries. The main tour activities at attractions is visiting the tourist information centre, museums and internet cafes. These activities were popular with the younger generation and, along with New Zealand's unique scenic resources and famous activities, attracted visitors to the main tourist destinations. The average satisfaction levels of the respondents, according to the survey was 3.52 out of 5.00 criterion, this resulted from analysis of 14items and their satisfaction levels. New Zealand and Korean tourism policy makers, including travel agents and tourism development authorities, need to devise efficient tourism policy to accommodate these changing characteristics of Korean tourists, as highlighted through the results of this study.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the intake of food and degree of satisfaction of services among Chinese tourists in the restaurants in Busan. The choice of what these tourists would eat after touring Busan was also determined. We chose 100 independent Chinese tourists visiting Busan for this study. Students, housewives, highly educated people, and people who visited once or twice were predominant among our study subjects. The Chinese tourists chose the following Busan local foods during their visit: Saengseonhoe (19%), Haemultang (19%), Oribulgogi (17%), Dwaejigukbap (12%), and Dongrae Pajeon (11%). The tourists responded that they would like to eat Bulgogi, Samgyeopsal, Bibimbap, Doenjangjjigae, and Dwaejigalbi again if they revisit Busan, indicating that they prefer general Korean food rather than Busan local food. The degree of satisfaction of Chinese tourists with Busan food was low and their response showed they were not satisfied with the prices and the amount of food served. Services (kindness, cleanliness) in Busan restaurants ranked high in the opinion of Chinese tourists. Of all the courses included in their tour of Busan, shopping for items received the highest score of satisfaction (44%), while food in Busan earned the lowest (10%). As regards intention to revisit Busan, 38% of the Chinese tourists answered yes, and 61% were unsure, and 1% was no. Our survey results indicate that restaurants in Busan city need to prepare food of choice for Chinese tourists and also make an effort to raise satisfaction on the cost and amounts of Busan foods.

  • User movement is an important factor in determining the amount of the acquired knowledge and information about space contexts. A reasonable circulation plan affects the spatial usage, space revitalization, and activity satisfaction, and is ultimately a means to increase spatial usefulness. On the other hand, a disorderly circulation system causes negative experiences due to difficulties in wayfinding. This research identified the importance of a pedestrian circulation system analyzing the correlation between the spatial configuration index and pedestrian movement, and visitors' movement in the leisure space by using Space Syntax. The research area, Ouam-ri, where numerous guests visit this designated folk village, is a typical case in which a settlement space is used as a leisure space. There was a great deal of risk that visitors would get lost while wandering through the space. Also, it is difficult to induce visitors to tour economically even though the pedestrian circulation configuration of Ouam-ri forms the natural moving line because of its typical tree structure. Additionally adjusting and to supplementing the pedestrian system is required in order for the traditional village, a settlement space, to be used as a leisure space.
