A topology optimization methodology, named "smooth boundary topology optimization," is proposed to overcome the shortcomings of cell-based methods. Material boundary is represented by B-spline curves and their control points are considered as design variables. The design is improved by either creating a hole or moving control points. To determine which is more beneficial, a selection criterion is defined. Once determined to create a hole, it is represented by a new B-spline and recognized as a new boundary. Because the proposed method deals with the control points of B-spline as design variables, their total number is much smaller than cell-based methods and it ensures smooth boundaries. Differences between our method and level set method are also discussed. It is shown that our method is a natural way of obtaining smooth boundary topology design effectively combining computer graphics technique and design sensitivity analysis.

In this paper we study the use of polyinstantiation for spatial data, for the purpose of solving cover in topology channel in multilevel secure spatial database systems. Spatial database system with topological structure has a number of spatial analysis function using spatial data and neighbored one\`s each other. But. it has problems that information flow is occurred by topological relationship in spatial database systems. Geographic Information System(CIS) must be needed mandatory access control because there ,are many information flow through positioning information And topological relationship between spatial objects. Moreover, most GIS applications also graphe user interface(GUI). In addressing these problems, we design the MLS/SRDM(Multi Level Security/Spatial Relational Data Model) and propose polyinstantiation for spatial data for solving information flow that occurred by toplogical relationship of spatial data.
Due to the trend of evolution toward a broadband communication network with fiber-optics, the design and operation of fiber-optic network have been received a great deal of research attention recently. Furthermore, even a single fiber link failure in the network may result in severe service loss. Thus, the network survivability becomes an importantissue in planning and designing the network. This survey is on modelling of various fiber-optic subscriber loop network(FSLN) design problems, which are essential ones for providing broadband communication services and B-ISDN services. Models are classified and investigated as either conventional decomposition-iteration approach or integrated design method. To build survivable networks, SHR models are also suggested by ring control schemes. The result of this study will be effectively applied to build a design model for FSLN in the practical applications.

Existing CAD systems do not provide advanced functions for automatic checking design and drafting errors in mechanical drawings. If the knowledge of checking in mechanical ddrsfting can be implemented into computers, CAD systems could automatically check for design and drafting errors. This paper describes a method for systematic checking of dimension errors. such as deficiency and/or redundancy of dimension input-errors in dimension figures and symbols, etc. The logic for finding dimensional errors is written by using a proccedural language. A geometric model and a topological-graph model are used in this method. Checking for deficiency and redundancy of dimensions is based upon graph Theory.
Increasing attention is being recently devoted to various problems inherent in the topological design of networks systems. The topological structure of these networks can be based on service centers, terminals (users), and connection cable. Lately, these network systems are well designed with tiber optic cable, because the requirements from users become increased. But considering the high cost of the fiber optic cable, it is more desirable that the network architecture is composed of a spanning tree. In this paper, we present a GA (Genetic Algorithm) for solving bicriteria network topology design problems of wide-band communication networks connected with fiber optic cable, considering the connection cost, average message delay, and the network reliability We also employ the $Pr\ddot{u}fer$ number (PN) and cluster string in order to represent chromosomes. Finally, we get some experiments in order to certify that the proposed GA is the more effective and efficient method in terms of the computation time as well as the Pareto optimality.
This paper investigates morphological theory as an intellectual framework for research and design. The first part of the paper will review morphological studies in the fields of urban geography, urban planning and architecture, particularly in England from the 1940s to the 1980s. While urban geographers and planners were concerned primarily with town plans, building forms and land use, architectural theoreticians were more interested in the topological relationship between urban and architectural space. The underlying premises and principles of these two approaches will be reviewed. The second part of the paper will focus on typology in Europe and North America. The reinterpretation of typology by Italian architects helped to bridge the gap between individual elements of architecture and the overall form of the city. However, typological theory became less accessible in post-war England and the United States. After 1980, the debate on typology became muted by the onset of vague notions such as functionalism, bio-technical determinism, and contextualism. This paper will propose a redefinition of morphology as a heuristic device, in contrast with the dichotomic view of urban morphology and architectural typology. Morphology will be shown to combine the geometrical and topological; the intentional and accidental; the real and abstract; and a priori and a posteriori. The last part of the paper discusses the lack of comparative theories and methods surrounding the physical form of architecture and the city by Korea commentators. Empirically rooted facility planning, non-comparative historical studies, and iconographic criticism emerged as a central preoccupation of architectural culture between the 1960s and 1980s, a time when international debate on architecture and urbanism was most intense. This paper will give consideration to the built environment as a dynamic physical entity and space as an epiphenomenon of daily urban life, such that collaboration between urban designers, architects, and landscape architects is seen as both beneficial and necessary.
We have utilized neural network (NN) studies to predict impact sensitivities of various types of explosive molecules. Two hundreds and thirty four explosive molecules have been taken from a single database, and thirty nine molecular descriptors were computed for each explosive molecule. Optimization of NN architecture has been carried out by examining seven different sets of molecular descriptors and varying the number of hidden neurons. For the optimized NN architecture, we have utilized 17 molecular descriptors which were composed of compositional and topological descriptors in an input layer, and 2 hidden neurons in a hidden layer.
This research presents a multi-objective optimal design employing topological approach to maximize magnetic energy while minimizing structural deformation which is caused by magnetic reluctance force and magnetostriction. A design sensitivity formula is derived by employing the adjoint variable method (AVM) to avoid numerous sensitivity evaluations for a coupled magneto-mechanical analysis. The sensitivity analysis is verified using the finite difference method (FDM) in a C-shape actuator. A linear actuator used in a home appliance is examined for optimal design and demonstrates the strength of the proposed topology optimization approach.

As a result of rapid advances in communication technology, fiber optics have begun to be adopted in most telecommunication systems 3s an economic choice Due to the trend of evolution toward broadband communication network with fiber optics and electronic devices. the network design problem for broadband communication has been received a great deal of research attention recently. In this paper, we address a topological design problem for broadband local access network with uncertain demands, which has received surprisingly little attention so far. in our problem, we select a set of hubs and links for constructing network expected penalty cost for the amount of undersupplied In addition to the usual cost terms of the fixed demand problem Our problem can be approximated as a mixed 0-1 integer programming problem by using Szwarc’s linear approximation technique. Then the problem is transformed successfully into a version of classical network design model. Some computational experiments for the model and concluding remarks are described.
In the present study, we suggest a new method for designing complex ship hull forms with multiple domain B-spline surfaces accounting for their topological arrangement, where all subdomains are fully defined in terms of form parameters, e.g., positional, differential and integral descriptors. For the construction of complex hull forms, free-form elementary models such as forebody, afterbody and bulbs are united by Boolean operation and blending surfaces in compliance with the sectional area curve (SAC) of the whole ship. This new design process in this paper is called Sectional Area Curve-Balanced Parametric Design (SAC-BPD).
