고정밀 연삭기 주축용 가변 면적 자기 보상형 리스트릭터 유정압 베어링 해석 (Analysis on the hydrostatic bearing using self-controlled restrictor or grinding wheel spindle)

  • Cylindrical type of self-controlled restrictor are designed for hydrostatic bearing of grinding wheel spindle. Typical hydrostatic journal bearing with the designed restrictor is analytically model. According to the model, the affect of oper-ation parameters, such as, initial cross distance, supply pressure, diameter of two supply holes, pre-load of spring, and clearance between spindle and housing, on bearing stiffness are analyzed. From the results of the analysis, the optimum conditions of operation parameters that maximize the bearing stiffness are estimated.

Application of GMDH model for predicting the fundamental period of regular RC infilled frames

  • The fundamental period (FP) is one of the most critical parameters for the seismic design of structures. In the reinforced concrete (RC) infilled frame, the infill walls significantly affect the FP because they change the stiffness and mass of the structure. Although several formulas have been proposed for estimating the FP of the RC infilled frame, they are often associated with high bias and variance. In this study, an efficient soft computing model, namely the group method of data handling (GMDH), is proposed to predict the FP of regular RC infilled frames. For this purpose, 4026 data sets are obtained from the open literature, and the quality of the database is examined and evaluated in detail. Based on the cleaning database, several GMDH models are constructed and the best prediction model, which considers the height of the building, the span length, the opening percentage, and the infill wall stiffness as the input variables for predicting the FP of regular RC infilled frames, is chosen. The performance of the proposed GMDH model is further underscored through comparison of its FP predictions with those of existing design codes and empirical models. The accuracy of the proposed GMDH model is proven to be superior to others. Finally, explicit formulas and a graphical user-friendly interface (GUI) tool are developed to apply the GMDH model for practical use. They can provide a rapid prediction and design for the FP of regular RC infilled frames.

  • 개별요소법은 절리가 발달한 불연속 암반의 모델링에 매우 유력한 수치해석적 방법이다. 또한 발파 후 큰 변위가 일어나는 단계에서의 모델링에도 효과적이다. 개별요소법에서 각 요소는 강체로 가정하고, 요소 간 약간의 중첩을 허용하여 접촉 변위로부터 상호 작용력을 계산한다. 개별요소의 경계로 정의되는 절리의 강성은 블록요소 상호 간의 거동을 결정하는 중요한 변수로서 변형의 크기와 파괴 양상에 영향을 준다. 그러나 요소 간 과도한 중첩으로 인한 수치해석적 불안정성을 방지하기 위해서 어떤 준정적인 문제에 있어서는 실제 절리 물성과 관계없이 임의로 선정된 절리 강성 값이 사용되기도 한다. 해석의 주된 관심사가 정밀도 높은 변형의 크기 예측이냐, 불연속체의 파괴 양상이나 파괴 후 파괴된 블록들의 거동 예측이냐에 따라, 절리 강성에 대한 입력 자료 값은 결과에 큰 영향을 주지 않을 수도 있고, 심각한 예측 오류를 가져올 수도 있다. 본 연구는 개별요소법을 이용한 수치해석 모델링에서 절리 강성 값이 해석 결과에 미치는 영향을 이해하고 입력자료 선정 지침에 도움을 주고자 수행되었다.

5축 혼합형 공작기계의 정밀도 향상 연구 (Accuracy Improvement of a 5-axis Hybrid Machine Tool)

  • In this paper, a novel 5-axis hybrid-kinematic machine tool is introduced and the research results on accuracy improvement of the prototype machine tool are presented. The 5-axis hybrid machine tool is made up of a 3-DOF parallel manipulator and a 2-DOF serial one connected in series. The machine tool maintains high ratio of stiffness to mass due to the parallel structure and high orientation capability due to the serial-type wrist. In order to acquire high accuracy, the methodology of measuring the output shafts by additional sensors instead of using encoder outputs at the motor shafts is proposed. In the kinematic view point, the hybrid manipulator reduces to a serial one, if the passive joints in the U-P serial chain at the center of the parallel manipulator are directly measured by additional sensors. Using the method of successive screw displacements, the kinematic error model is derived. Since a ball-bar is less expensive than a full position measurement device and sufficiently accurate for calibration, the kinematic calibration method of using a ball-bar is presented. The effectiveness of the calibration method has been verified through the simulations. Finally, the calibration experiment shows that the position accuracy of the prototype machine tool has been improved from 153 to $86{\mu}m$.

겹치기 이음부의 설계변수 변화에 따른 고유진동수의 예측 (Prediction of Natural Frequency via Change in Design Variable on Connection Area of Lap Joint)

  • This paper describes the prediction of eigenfrequencies due to changes in stiffness and mass in the connection area of the lap joint beam in terms of linear and torsional stiffness as well as connection length. The sensitivities of mass and stiffness in the finite element model were derived by using the first-order differential and algebraic equation and were thereafter applied to obtain new natural frequencies that were compared with theoretical exact solutions. Newly predicted natural frequencies due to only a change in stiffness were in relatively good agreement with those in lower modes for rigid joints, while further investigation was needed for flexible joints. On the other hand, only the change in mass resulted in a large discrepancy in the flexible joint case. It may be strongly anticipated that this study will provide a useful tool for estimating modal parameters by change in any design variable, such as the structural dimension, material property, or connection type for a large-scale structure, even though the proposed methodology is currently limited to a jointed beam.

  • In this Paper, a mathematical model describing the dynamics of pilot operated pressure control valve was derived. A attempt to analyze the Parameters(seat diameter, cone angle, spring stiffness, control volume) which relate to the performance of the object valve was carried out. Simulation using AMESim as a simulation tool was operated, and verified the validity of our simulation by means of comparison our simulation results with an experimental results of the pilot operated pressure control valve.

  • The thermal deformation of machine tool spindle influences the performance of the manufacturing systems for precision products. According to previous studies, major factors that will affect the stiffness of the spindle include spindle diameter, elasticity of the material, bearing stiffness and bearing span. It is difficult to change spindle diameter or elasticity of the material. but change of bearing position is easy in the given range compared to other factors. In this paper, we will find a solution to minimize thermal deformation through Change the span of the bearing.

  • In this paper, dynamic behavior of a two stage gear train system is analyzed. This system consists of three shafts supported by ball bearing at the ends of them and two pairs of spur gear sets. For exact analysis, the meshing tooth pair of gears is modeled as spring having time-dependent meshing stiffness and damping. The result of this analysis is compared to that of analysis using other model of spring having mean mesh stiffness. The effect of the excitation force by the imbalance of a rotor of a motor on the vibration of a gear train system is also analyzed. Finally, the change of a natural frequency of the whole system due to the change of an angle between three shafts is compared in each case, and from this analysis, the avoiding angle for design is advised.

Hysteresis modeling for cyclic behavior of concrete-steel composite joints using modified CSO

  • Concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) column joints with composite beams have been widely used as lateral loading resisting elements in civil infrastructure. To better utilize these innovative joints for the application of structural seismic design and analysis, it is of great importance to investigate the dynamic behavior of the joint under cyclic loading. With this aim in mind, a novel phenomenal model has been put forward in this paper, in which a Bouc-Wen hysteresis component is employed to portray the strength and stiffness deterioration phenomenon caused by increment of loading cycle. Then, a modified chicken swarm optimization algorithm was used to estimate the optimal model parameters via solving a global minimum optimization problem. Finally, the experimental data tested from five specimens subjected to cyclic loadings were used to validate the performance of the proposed model. The results effectively demonstrate that the proposed model is an easy and more realistic tool that can be used for the pre-design of CFST column joints with reduced beam section (RBS) composite beams.

  • 본 연구에서는 축과 베어링으로 구성된 공작기계 주축 설계를 위한 1차원 유한요소 해석을 자동화하기 위한 툴을 개발하였습니다. 객체지향 프로그래밍을 기반으로 하기 때문에, CAD 시스템의 객체를 사용할 수 있습니다. 스핀들 시스템을 정의하기 위한 축의 단면과 베어링 강성과 같은 최소한의 데이터를 입력할 필요가 있으며, 그 데이터를 기반으로 형상 모델을 먼저 만들고, 그리고, 1차원 빔과 스프링 요소로 구성된 유한요소 모델로 변환합니다. 본 툴을 위해서 개발된 사용자 인터페이스는 사용자가 툴과 상호교류할 수 있도록 도와줍니다. 본 툴은 다수의 설계 변경과 그 후에 수행되는 유한요소해석 과정을 자동화함으로써 최소한의 시간과 노력으로 공작기계 주축 시스템의 근사 최적 설계를 발견할 수 있도록 해줍니다.
