  • In this paper, we propose the efficient processing technique for unavailable data in hardware implementation of motion estimator in H.264/AVC with parallel processing architecture. Motion estimation processing in the hardware is generally based on pipe-lining, some MV data of neighbor blocks are not available, whereas all MV data are valid in software processing where the data are sequentially processed. In this paper, we solve the problem of data being unavailable in MVp computation. To minimize the quality degradation caused by unavailable MVs, in the proposed method, the unavailable MV of a neighboring block is replaced with an integer pel unit MV, an MVp of neighboring blocks, or an MVcol (MV of co-located block). Comparing to the conventional method [7], our method outperformed maximally 0.832dB and 0.179dB for QCIF and CIF, respectively, in terms of BDPSNR.

  • Satsuma dwarf virus (SDV) or Citrus mosaic sadwavirus (CiMV) were not consistently detected in RTPCR assay with the primer sets based on gene of Japan isolates. SDV and CiMV isolates were distinctively divided into two groups based on phylogenetic analysis of PP2 gene cloned from 22 Korean isolates, and the Korean CiMV and SDV isolates shared 95.5-96.2% and 97.1-97.7% sequence identity with Japanese isolate, respectively. We developed PP2-1 primer set based on the PP2 gene sequence of Korean isolates to simultaneously and effectively detect SDV and CiMV. And CTLV-2013 and CTV-po primer sets were newly designed for detection of Citrus tatter leaf virus (CTLV) and Citrus tristeza virus (CTV), respectively. Using these primer sets, a new multiplex PCR assay was developed as a means to simultaneously detect 4 citrus viruses, CTV, CTLV, SDV, and CiMV. The degree of detection by the multiplex PCR were consistent with those of uniplex RT-PCR for detection of each of the viruses. Therefore, the new multiplex PCR provides an efficient method for detecting 4 citrus viruses, which will help diagnose many citrus plants at the same time. We verified that 35.2% and 72.1% of 775 trees in 155 orchards were infected with SDV or CiMV (SDV/CiMV) and CTV by the multiplex-PCR assay, respectively, and CTLV was not detected in any of the trees tested.

  • The Cucurbitaceae are a plant family that consist of over a hundred genera, the most important of which are squash, pumpkin, zucchini, some gourds, cucumber and watermelon. These are among the top imported seeds in Korea. At the time of their import, the Squash mosaic virus (SqMV), the Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) and the Kyuri green mottle mosaic virus (KGMMV) are designated as regulated viruses for quarantine in Korea. This study was conducted to develop specific primer sets for easy and rapid detection of SqMV, CGMMV and KGMMV. RT-PCR with the nested PCR primer sets and modified positive control plasmids were capable of highly sensitive detection and verification of such viruses. In addition, developed diagnostic PCR systems applied to quarantine sites detected 47 cases of SqMV, 67 cases of CGMMV and 17 cases of KGMMV between 2010 and the first half of 2014.

  • Tobamoviruses are the major viral pathogens of tomato and bell pepper. The preliminary results showed that Acibenzolar-Smethyl(ASM; S-methylbenzo(1,2,3) thiadiazole-7-carbothiate) pre-treatment to tomato and tobacco plants reduces the concentration of Tomato mosaic tobamovirus(ToMV) and Tobacco mosaic tobamovirus(TMV) in tomato and bell pepper seedlings, respectively. Pre-treatment of the indicator plant(Nicotiana glutinosa) with the ASM followed by challenge inoculation with tobamoviruses produced a reduced number and size of local lesions(67 and 79% protection over control to TMV and ToMV inoculation, respectively). In order to understand the mechanism of resistance the gene expression profiles of antiviral genes was examined. RT-PCR products showed higher expression of two viral resistance genes viz., alternative oxidase(AOX) and RNA dependent RNA polymerase(RdRp) in the upper leaves of the ASM-treated tomato plants challenge inoculation with ToMV. Further, the viral concentration was also quantified in the upper leaves by reverse transcription PCR using specific primer for movement protein of ToMV, as well as ELISA by using antisera against tobamoviruses. The results provided additional evidence that ASM pre-treatment reduced the viral movement to upper leaves. The results suggest that expressions of viral resistance genes in the host are the key component in the resistance against ToMV in the inducer-treated tomato plants.

  • Radiation Therapy has been used in the treatment of breast cancer for over 80 years. Technically, it should include a part or all of such areas as chest wall or breast, axilla, internam mammary nodes and supraclavicular nodes. The purpose of this study is treated breast cancer patient to use 6 MV, 10 MV with bolus so that we observe changing of skin dose and evaluate those usefulness. Using woman's phantom, after CT simulate scanning, Through RTP system to make treatment plan, select three any place. And then, we measure that dose rate. After moving the phantom to linac, we put for TLD to three point same as RTP system which we put on the phantom. We exposed 6 MV, 10 MV with bolus and without so that it is measured dose by TLD device(4000 Harshaw). As a reult expose 6 MV,10 MV, it differences 10%, 15% according to bolus and withoout bolus where lateral point from RAO, LPO beam, other one is 20% where the furthest from both beams. To use bolus in the hospital is material to include closely part at skin among tissue of breast cancer. Acquired skin dose from RTP system is uncertainity. So it has to test another system likely TLD or other dosimetry system. Also exposed field of breast cancer is included inhomogeneity such as lung, bone and so on. Therefore it has to be accomplished a dose calculating of inhomogeneity part from treatment plan.

  • Monte Carlo simulations were used to assess dose enhancement effects for 60-, 90-, 120-, and 150-kV X-rays, and for 6- and 15-MV X-rays. The MCNPX code was used for a computer simulation of the ICRU slab phantom, and gold, gadolinium, and iron oxide (Fe2O3) were employed as dose enhancement agents. In consideration of the buildup region of the incident energy, agent concentrations of 5, 10, 15, and 20 mg/g were inserted on the surface of the phantom at a depth of 5 cm. Based on baseline values obtained in the absence of dose enhancement agents, a quantitative analysis was performed by evaluating depth-dependent changes in the absorbed energy and the dose enhancement factor (DEF). A higher concentration of dose enhancement agents led to a greater dose enhancement effect with iron oxide, gadolinium, and gold in descending order. For kilovoltage (kV) X-rays, as the incident energy was decreased and as the energy became closer to the ionization potential of the atoms in the enhancement agent, the dose enhancement effect increased. In the megavoltage (MV) X-ray range, dose enhancement was higher at 6 MV compared with 15 MV. However, the overall dose enhancements were significantly lower compared to the results obtained with kV X-rays.

  • A filamentous virus was isolated from taro (Colocasia esculenta Schott) showing mosaic and chlorotic feather-ing symptoms in Chuncheon, Gangwon province in 2002. Based on ELISA, its appearance in electron microscope, serological relationships, and RT-PCR using specific primer and nucleotide sequence analysis of the CP gene, the isolated virus was identified as Dasheen mosaic virus (DsMV) and designated as Korean isolated (DsMV-Kr). DsMV was not serologically related to Zantedeschia mosaic virus (ZaMV), which has been reported to infect an Araceae plants. Since the coat protein revealed electrophoretic heterogeneity, about 42 kDa, 39 kDa and 31 kDa by SDS-PAGE, an improved purification method was established for the production of antisera against DsMV-Kr. The purification method used in this study may be effectively applied to the purification of other filamentous viruses.

  • After the introduction of fuzzy sets by Zadeh [8], there have been a number of generalizations of fundamental concept. The notion of intuitionistic fuzzy sets introduced by Atanassov is one among them. An intuitionistic fuzzy set is also called a bifuzzy set according to [5]. In this paper, we apply the concept of a bifuzzy set to (implicative) ideals in pseudo MV-algebras. The notion of a bifuzzy (implicative) ideal of a pseudo MV-algebra is introduced, and some related properties are investigated. Conditions for a bifuzzy set to be a bifuzzy ideal are given, and characterizations of a bifuzzy (implicative) ideal are provided. Using a family of ideals, bifuzzy ideals are established.

  • Two potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) cultivars were transformed by Agrobacterium tumefaciens harboring cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) 35S promoter and $\beta$-glucuronidase (GUS) gene. Expression patterns of the CaMV 35S promoter according to tissue types and developmental stages, and genetic stability of GUS gene were investigated in the clonal progenies of transgenic potatoes. Kanamycin-resistant shoot emerged from tuber disc after 4 weeks of culture, and root was induced 6 weeks after culture on the selection medium. Shooting frequency of cvs. Superior and Dejima were 43% and 27%, respectively. Mature transformants and their clonal progenies showed no phenotypical abnormality. GUS activity was expressed primarily at parenchymatous cells of phloem tissue around the vascular cambium in the stem and root, and higher activity was found at the apical meristem of shoot, root and adventious shoot bud. GUS activity was higher at tubers of young explants than at stored tubers. These facts indicate that expression level of the CaMV 35S promoter differed according to tissue types and developmental stages of the organs. The GUS gene was stably inherited to each clonal progeny and normally expressed.

  • This paper statistically analyzes the time required for each failure cause and describes a diagnostic method for 159 reports of failure analysis of MV cables that occurred in the distribution system of KEPCO over the past 18 years. In addition, the manufacturer's failure rate compared to 100C-km was calculated using 381 cases of MV cable deterioration failure between 2008 and 2020. It is hoped that this paper will help those in charge of maintaining underground facilities at the business office to use the failure rate to prioritize facility diagnosis.
