Event-Driven Real-Time Simulation Based On The RM Scheduling and Lock-free Shared Objects

  • The Constructive Battle Simulation Model is very important to the recent military training for the substitution of the field training. However, real battlefield systems operate under real-time conditions, they are inherently distributed, concurrent and dynamic. In order to reflect these properties by the computer-based simulation systems which represent real world processes, we have been developing constructive simulation model for several years. Conventionally, scheduling and resource allocation activities which have timing constraints, we elaborated on these issues and developed the simulation system on commercially available hardware and operating system with lock-free resource allocation scheme and rate monotonic scheduling.

  • In this research, we port the RT-Linux to MVME 5100 board which is driven by VxWorks or Vertex until now. And, we developed the data logging modules by using the RT-Linux. This module gathers two different scan timing data from plant and sends this data to the host controller with real time.

  • A gasoline injector rig which can measure cumulative injected fuel mass under a vehicle driving condition was developed. The measurement system consists of an engine control unit (ECU), data acquisition (DAQ) and injected fuel collection system using loadcells. By supplying reconstructed sensor signals which simulate the real vehicle's sensor signals to the ECU, the ECU drives injectors as if they were driven in the vehicle. The vehicle's performance was computer simulated by using $GT-Suite^{(R)}$ software based on both engine part load performance and automatic transmission shift map. Throttle valve position, engine and vehicle speed, air mass flow rate et al. were computer simulated. The used vehicle driving pattern for the simulation was FTP-75 mode. For reconstructing the real vehicle sensor signals which are correspondent to the $GT-Suite^{(R)}$ simulated vehicle's performance, the DAQ systems were used. The injected fuel was collected with mess cylinders. The collected fuel mass in the mess cylinder with elapsed time after starting FTP-75 driving mode was measured using loadcells. The developed method shows highly improved performance in fast timing and accuracy of the cumulative injected fuel mass measurement under the vehicle driven condition.

  • 본 고에서는 임베디드 시스템을 위한 새로운 이벤트 중심의 실시간 시스템의 디자인의 최적화에 대한 연구를 논하고자 한다. 이를 위해서는 대단위의 분산처리시스템을 만족하기 위한 종료시한 초과 처리기의 구현이 필수적이며, 이때 실시간 시스템에서의 타이밍을 조절하고 계측할 수 있는 종료시 한이 사용되어야 한다. 이러한 타이밍의 요소들은 보통 모델과 실제 시스템사이의 인터페이스에서 동작하는데, 여기서 실시간 시스템의 디자인을 위한 다양한 그래픽 언어들이 종료시한을 효과적으로 처리하도록 제고한다. 이 연구를 통하여 사용자수준에서의 임베디드 시스템을 위한 종료시한 초과 처리와 함께, RonRT라는 툴을 이용한 최적화된 종료시한 초과 처리기를 증명해 보이고자한다.

새로운 부가 힘을 사용한 Quadratic Programming 기반의 표준셀 배치 (Quadratic Programming Based Standard-cell Placement with New Additional Force)

  • 본 논문은 quadratic programming(QP) 기반의 표준셀 배치에 대하여 다룬다. 본 논문은 QP 기반의 배치에서 발생하는 셀겹침을 제거하고 균등한 배치를 얻기 위하여 새로운 모델의 부가 힘을 제안한다 부가 힘(additional force)이란, 셀 사이의 연결과는 관계없이 배치영역 내의 셀의 분포 밀도에 의해 받게되는 힘을 의미한다. 본 논문에서는 부가 힘을 가상 고정셀(dummy fixed cell)에 의해 발생되는 힘으로 모델화하여 그것을 이용한 개략배치 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 배치방법에 의한 최종 배치결과를 TimberWolf v7.0과 Itools vl.4와 비교하였다. 제안된 배치기는 시간지연을 고려하지 않은 경우, 배선거리에서 TimberWolf v7.0에 비하여 평균 7.5% 향상된 결과를 얻었다. 시간지연을 고려했을 경우, 배선거리에서 Timberwolf v7.0에 비하여 평균 5.0% 향상된 결과를 얻었다. 그리고 Itools vl.4에는 비교할만한 결과를 얻었다.

Relation between Earthward magnetotail flow and low-latitude Pi2 pulsations

  • It has been suggested that oscillatory earthward bursty bulk flows (BBFs) in the magnetotail are driving Pi2 oscillations on the ground. However, only a few studies examined the BBF-driven Pi2 model. The goal of this study is to establish the relation between BBFs and Pi2s. In order to examine BBF-drive model, we will conduct the timing analysis between BBFs and Pi2s for the intervals during which both Pi2 and BBF are present. In our study BBFs are identified with earthward flow speeds up to 200 km/s from THEMIS probes with a geocentric distance between 7 and 12 RE in the nightside magnetosphere for the interval from January 2008 to March 2008. Pi2 pulsations are identified at three low/mid-latitude ground stations having different local times; Bohyun (L = 1.35, LT ~ UT +9 hr), Hermanus (L = 1.83, LT ~ UT +2 hr) and Carson city (L = 2.00, LT ~ UT -2 hr). It is found that ~28% of BBFs have onset timing nearly identical to Pi2 onset. To investigate whether there is high similarity in the waveform between BBF and Pi2 oscillations, the coherence analysis is applied to the time series of BBF and Pi2 events. We found that there is no high coherence between BBF and Pi2 oscillations. Thus our observations suggest that low-latitude Pi2 oscillations are not directly driven by earthward flow bursts.

예측정확도 향상 전략을 통한 예측기반 병렬 게이트수준 타이밍 시뮬레이션의 성능 개선 (Performance Improvement of Prediction-Based Parallel Gate-Level Timing Simulation Using Prediction Accuracy Enhancement Strategy)

  • 본 논문에서는 예측기반 병렬 이벤트구동 게이트수준 타이밍 시뮬레이션의 성능 개선을 위한 효율적인 예측정확도 향상 전략을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 병렬 이벤트구동 로컬시뮬레이션들의 입력값과 출력값에 대한 예측을 이중으로 예측할 뿐만 아니라, 특별한 상황에서는 동적으로 예측할 수 있게 한다. 이중 예측은 첫번째 예측이 틀린 경우에 두번째 정적 예측 데이터로써 새로운 예측을 시도하게 되며, 동적 예측은 실제의 병렬 시뮬레이션 실행 과정 도중에 동적으로 축적되어진 지금까지의 시뮬레이션 결과를 예측 데이터로 활용하는 것이다. 제안된 두가지의 예측정확도 향상 기법은 병렬 시뮬레이션의 성능 향상의 제약 요소인 동기 오버헤드 및 통신 오버헤드를 크게 감소시킨다. 이 두가지 중요한 예측정확도 향상 방법을 통하여 6개의 디자인들에 대한 예측기반 병렬 이벤트구동 게이트수준 타이밍 시뮬레이션이 기존 통상적 방식의 상용 병렬 멀티-코어 시뮬레이션에 비하여 약 5배의 시뮬레이션 성능이 향상됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

LOW FUEL CONSUMPTION AND LOW EMISSIONS - ELECTROMECHANICAL VALVE TRAIN IN VEHICLE OPERATION

  • The electromechanical valve train (EMV) technology allows for a reduction in fuel consumption while operating under a stoichiometric air-fuel-ratio and preserves the ability to use conventional exhaust gas aftertreatment technology with a 3-way-catalyst. Compared with an engine with a camshaft-driven valve train, the variable valve timing concept makes possible an additional optimization of cold start, warm-up and transient operation. In contrast with the conventionally throttled engine, optimized control of load and in-cylinder gas movement can be used for each individual cylinder and engine cycle. A load control strategy using a "Late Intake Valve Open" (LIO) provides a reduction in start-up HC emissions of approximately 60%. Due to reduced wall-wetting, the LIO control strategy improves the transition from start to idle. "Late Exhaust Valve Open" (LEO) timing during the exhaust stroke leads to exhaust gas afterburning and, thereby, results in high exhaust gas temperatures and low HC emissions. Vehicle investigations have demonstrated an improved accuracy of the air-fuel-ratio during transient operation. Results in the New European Driving Cycle have confirmed a reduction in fuel consumption of more than 15% while meeting EURO IV emission limits.

초전도 마이크로 프로세서개발을 위한 RSFQ ALU 회로의 타이밍 분석 (Timing analysis of RSFQ ALU circuit for the development of superconductive microprocessor)

  • We have constructed an RSFQ 4-bit Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) in a pipelined structure. An ALU is a core element of a computer processor that performs arithmetic and logic operation on the operands in computer instruction words. We have simulated the circuit by using Josephson circuit simulation tools. We used simulation tools of XIC, $WRspice^{TM}$, and Julia. To make the circuit work faster, we used a forward clocking scheme. This required a careful design of timing between clock and data pulses in ALU. The RSFQ 1-bit block of ALU used in constructing the 4-bit ALU was consisted of three DC current driven SFQ switches and a half-adder. By commutating output ports of the half adder, we could produce AND, OR, XOR, or ADD functions. The circuit size of the 4-bit ALU when fabricated was 3 mm x 1.5 mm, fitting in a 5 mm x 5mm chip. The fabricated 4-bit ALU operated correctly at 5 GHz clock frequency. The chip was tested at the liquid-helium temperature.

압전구동 능동형 체크밸브를 이용한 고출력 마이크로펌프 (A High Power Micropump Using Active Check Valves Driven by Piezoelectric Actuators)

  • In this paper, a novel high power micropump using active check valves in place of conventional passive check valves employed at the inlet and outlet ports is presented. It actively controls open/close motion of check valves using piezoelectric actuator for expansion/contraction of pump chamber. A prototype micropump having an effective size of $17mm{\times}8mm{\times}11mm$ is fabricated. Frequency-dependent flow rate characteristics, bi-directional flow characteristics and load characteristics are experimentally investigated using a timing control method for valve closing motion. From the obtained experimental results, it is ascertained that optimal values of the phase shift compared to the voltage to drive pump chamber are $15^{\circ}$ for inlet check valve and $195^{\circ}$ for outlet. Based on the obtained results, a sheet-type active shuttle valve that has a unified valve-body for inlet and outlet check valves is proposed. A micropump with an effective size of $10mm{\times}10mm{\times}10mm$ is fabricated and the basic characteristics are experimentally investigated.
