  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a small group collaboration learning program through MBTI on nursing professional self-concept and career maturity of nursing college students. Method: A randomized control pre-post test experimental research design was used. There were 30 sophomore nursing students in the experimental group and 30 in the control group randomly assigned and randomly selected from the nursing program of T University in Daegu, Korea. The program through MBTI was developed by Kwon (2002) using a program by Shim and Kim (1997) as treatment. The experimental group received the program through MBTI for 30 hours (2 times a week for 15 weeks) while the control group received no treatment except a series of tests. Measures were the MBTI test, nursing professional self-concept scale, and career maturity scale. The data were analyzed with SPSS Win 17.0 program, chi-square test, and t-test. Result: The experimental group which received the program through MBTI had a higher score of nursing professional self-concept and career maturity change than the control group. Conclusion: A small group collaboration learning program through MBTI was effective in increasing nursing professional self-concept and career maturity of nursing college students.

  • This article starts with a review of the e-self directed learning, future time perspective and decision making, especially in relation to the career myths. In particular, we empirically analyzed the factors affecting the future time perspective and the decision making on the characteristics of career myths(e.g. relatedness of the test myths, the supreme myth and the family myths). Hence the main purpose of this article is to suggest an empirical model explaining how these factors affect e-self directed learning to future time perspective and decision making. Furthermore, we suggested an expanded model about future time perspective, decision making and especially in relation to the career myths. We founded that the e-self directed learning significantly affect the future time perspective and the decision making, also the future time perspective affect the test myths and family myths except the supreme myths and the decision making significantly affect the career myths(i.e., the test myths, the supreme myth, the family myths).

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the educational effects of career guidance classes, which are now included in regular course offerings by universities. To this end, the self-efficacy of college students regarding career decisions and their degree of career maturity was measured as effect variables. The subjects of the study included 33 sophomores who took 15 weeks of career guidance classes provided by four-year universities. Pretest-posttest design and the paired t-test were conducted for verifying the differences before and after taking career guidance courses. According to the results of the analysis, first, university students' self-efficacy in career decision-making was higher after taking the career guidance courses, indicating a statistically significant difference. Second, the t-value for the difference before and after taking the career guidance courses was indicating that there was a slight statistically significant improvement. These results are meaningful in that they proved that career guidance courses in higher education had the educational effects of improving self-efficacy in career path decisions and the career maturity of college students.

  • This study examined the effects of perceived career barriers and attribution style on career preparation behaviors of female college students' and the moderating effects of attribution style between career barriers and career preparation behaviors. For this purpose, career barrier test, preparation behavior, and attribution style test were conducted on 485 female college students. The collected data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 23.0. The findings are as follows. First, career perceived barriers by female college students had a negative effect on career preparation behaviors. Second, the more internal and controllable the attribution, the more active the career behaviors. Third, there was no moderating effect of attribution style between career barriers and career preparation behavior. Based on the above findings, implications for career education and career counseling for female college students, limitations of the study, and directions for further research were discussed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with career maturity among Korean high school students. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional design was adopted using secondary data from the 2012 Korean Welfare Panel Study (KoWePS). The participants were 496 high school students who completed the supplemental survey for children, which included items on career maturity, self-esteem, study stress, teacher attachment, relationship with parents, peer attachment, depression and anxiety. Descriptive statistics, the chi-square-test, the t-test, and a decision tree were used for data analysis. Results: The decision tree identified five final nodes predicting career maturity after forcing self-esteem as the first variable. The highest predicted rate of high career maturity was associated with high self-esteem, experience of career counseling, and high teacher attachment. The lowest predicted rate of high career maturity was associated with low self-esteem and low attachment to friends. Conclusion: Factors influencing career maturity were varied by levels of self-esteem in Korean high school students. Thus, it is necessary to develop different approaches to enhance career maturity according to levels of self-esteem.

  • In this study, we investigated how satisfaction with on-board training had an effect on career motivation of the trainees. For this purpose, satisfaction for on-board training and career motivation were used as variables. Satisfaction for on-board training were classified into education, environment and operation, and then measurement items were composed. Career motivation consisted of career identity, career insight and career resilience. To establish and test nine hypotheses, a questionnaire survey was conducted by 57 trainees who participated in the Gyeongsang National University on-board sailing training in 2021. To analyze the questionnaire responses, frequency analysis, factor analysis, multiple regression analysis and paired sample t-test were used. As a result of factor analysis, six factors for satisfaction for on-board training were derived. Among the factors, it was analyzed that satisfaction with assignments, the satisfaction with accommodation, and the satisfaction with the adequate condition of facilities and equipment had a significant effect on career motivation. In addition, it was found that career motivation significantly increased through on-board training as a result of comparing the difference between the averages of career motivation before and after on-board training.

The career coaching program consisted of 10 sessions of combined individual coaching, small group coaching and group coaching. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, a t-test, ${\chi}^2$ test, and paired t-test with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. After receiving the career coaching program, a difference was observed in career decision making self efficacy (t=4.99, p<0.001), self-leadership (t=5.08, p<0.001), and employment-stress (t=5.08, p<0.001) of the experimental group. The results of this study indicate that the career coaching program was effective at increasing career decision making self efficacy and self-leadership, as well as decreasing employment-stress in nursing students.

The career-related stress was negatively correlated with commitment to a career choice (r=-.731, p<.001) and career decision self-efficacy(r=-.449, p<.001). The influencing factors of career-related stress were grade(${\beta}$=.99, p<.017) and commitment to a career choice(${\beta}$=-.707, p<.001). This study concludes that it is necessary to develop education program to improve commitment to a career choice and career decision self-efficacy.

  • This study aims to test the influence of employee competency and career management on career commitment in Indonesia. The study uses the cross-sectional data of regional government employees collected from February to April 2020. Regression and structural equation modeling are employed. The results base on the effect of employee competency and career management on career commitment in Indonesia are in line with the existing theory (i.e., Bandura's Career Theory). Employee competency has a significant positive influence on career management and career commitment, which shows that regional government employees with high competency generate effective career management, and in turn career commitment increased. Regional governments with their career management program should formulate human resources management practice policy (e.g., career support, training, career development program, and orientation programs) in order to increase their competency. The positive effect of employee competency on career management is because of the effective training and career development program. The positive influence of career management on career commitment is due to the regional government providing an attractive career program, thus, employees' career commitment improved. The positive influence of employee competency on career commitment via career management is implemented by regional government support to improve the career management program.

The extent of the career satisfaction differ according to age(F=3.60, p=.030), marital status(t=2.42, p=.017), current position(F=6.61, p=.002), total clinical career(F=3.36, p=.023), and work unit(t=0.95, p=.029). The influencing factors in career satisfaction of clinical nurses were organizational career management, career plateau and individual career planning. $R^2=.415$. Organizational career management was the highest significant predictor of career satisfaction(${\beta}=.325$). Conclusion: Factors influencing career satisfaction were organizational career management, career plateau and individual career planning. Thus a program for career development of organization is needed.
