Stakeholders' Opinion on the Desired Characteristics of Nursing School Graduates and Factors Concerning Nursing Curriculum Development in Thailand

  • Effective higher educational management in undergraduate nursing programs is an important issue from the viewpoint of stakeholders. This qualitative research aimed to examine the characteristics of nursing students and curriculum development of undergraduate nursing education from the opinions of Boromarajonani College of Nursing Saraburi, Thailand stakeholders. The population included 4 groups: 1) the alumni who have graduated within the past 5 years and currently work in primary, secondary, and tertiary care units, 2) the supervisors and colleagues of the alumni, 3) nursing lecturers, and 4) the current nursing students. The respondents who are the alumni, nursing lecturers, and current nursing student were selected using a purposive sampling, for the supervisors and colleagues were selected using snowball techniques. Semi-structured interview questions were used for data collection. Group discussions were conducted until saturation on 55 key informants. The qualitative data was analyzed using content analysis. Results showed the viewpoints of stakeholders on the characteristics of future nurse graduates were comprised of four elements: knowledge that meets standards; essential skills for self-development and lifelong learning process; good morals and professional ethics in providing nursing care; and nurse competencies in teamwork, communication, language, research, management, IT, life skills, and global literacy. The viewpoints on the development of the nursing curriculum focus on four elements: the learner, teaching and learning, course content, and instructor tasks. For learners, the admission criteria should include a minimum not only of knowledge, but also positive attitude, science, and art skills, since the nursing profession is both a science and the art of caring. Teaching and learning elements should be authentic, including exposure to real situations, an integrated network, and activities that improve nursing care. Course content was comprised of an updated curriculum, humanized nursing care, student center, theory and practice with moral integration, case-based study, critical thinking, multidisciplinary work, and love for the nursing profession. Instructor tasks are to elicit student ideas, provide opportunities to learn, support infrastructure, support technology use, and extra-curricular activities to develop the competencies of nursing students. Recommendations were that the curriculum administration should review the selection process of student candidates and instructional management to achieve expected outcomes of nursing characteristics in the future. The nurse lecturer should provide authentic and integrated instruction, decrease lecturing, cultivate a lifelong learning process, and sustain the nursing characteristics.

국내 원자력발전소 인적오류 저감을 위한 Crew Resource Management 교육훈련체계 개발 (Development of a Crew Resource Management Training Program for Reduction of Human Errors in APR-1400 Nuclear Power Plant)

  • The nuclear power industry in the world has recognized the importance of integrating non-technical and team skills training with the technical training given to its control room operators to reduce human errors since the Three Mile Island and Chernobyl accidents. The Nuclear power plant (NPP) industry in Korea has been also making efforts to reduce the human errors which largely have contributed to 120 nuclear reactor trips from the year 2001 to 2006. The Crew Resource Management (CRM) training was one of the efforts to reduce the human errors in the nuclear power industry. The CRM was developed as a response to new insights into the causes of aircraft accidents which followed from the introduction of flight recorders and cockpit voice recorders into modern jet aircraft. The CRM first became widely used in the commercial airline industry, but military aviation, shipboard crews, medical and surgical teams, offshore oil crews, and other high-consequence, high-risk, time-critical industry teams soon followed. This study aims to develop a CRM training program that helps to improve plant performance by reducing the number of reactor trips caused by the operators' errors in Korean NPP. The program is; firstly, based on the work we conducted to develop a human factors training from the applications to the Nuclear Power Plant; secondly, based on a number of guidelines from the current practicable literature; thirdly, focused on team skills, such as leadership, situational awareness, teamwork, and communication, which have been widely known to be critical for improving the operational performance and reducing human errors in Korean NPPs; lastly, similar to the event-based training approach that many researchers have applied in other domains: aircraft, medical operations, railroads, and offshore oilrigs. We conducted an experiment to test effectiveness of the CRM training program in a condition of simulated control room also. We found that the program made the operators' attitudes and behaviors be improved positively from the experimental results. The more implications of the finding were discussed further in detail.

특성화고 미래인재전형 담당교사들의 역량모델 연구 (Development of the Competency Model of Specialized Vocational High School Teachers as Admission Officers)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 특성화고 미래인재전형 담당교사들의 역량모델을 개발하는 것이다. 미래인재전형은 특성화고의 특별전형 중 하나로, 교과 성적과 상관없이 취업 및 창업의지, 소질과 적성을 가진 학생들을 선발하기 위해 2016년 서울시 소재 특성화고에 도입되었다. 본 연구는 미래인재전형 담당교사들의 역량모델을 개발하기 위해 특성화고 교사 191명에 대한 설문조사를 실시, 요인분석을 실시하고 고경력자와 일반 경력자의 응답을 비교 분석하였다. 본 연구결과로 나타난 특성화고 미래인재전형 담당교사의 핵심역량은 3개 역량군, 14개 역량으로 나타났다 : 1) 공통 역량군은 입학담당자로서 직무를 수행하는 데 기본적으로 필요한 역량으로 (1)입학전형 담당자로서의 책임감, (2)평가자로서의 윤리성, (3)의사소통 역량, (4)팀워크 역량을 포함한다. 2) 기획 역량군은 미래인재전형 선발에 적합한 모든 전략과 세부 계획을 설계하는데 필요한 역량으로 (5)특성화고 입학전형에 대한 이해력, (6)인재상에 따른 평가 준거 및 요소추출 역량, (7)면접 문항 개발 역량, (8)평가 기준 개발 및 지침 이해 역량, (9)평가자간 신뢰도 제고 역량 등이다. 3) 실행 역량군은 성공적인 미래 인재 선발에 적용하고 실천할 수 있는 역량으로 (10)면접 진행 역량, (11)면접 답변에 대한 실시간 평가 역량, (12)평가결과를 객관화, 수치화하는 역력, (13)평가결과에 대한 통합적 해석 역량, (14)평가 결과에 대한 의사결정 역량이 포함된다.

PBL 접목한 문화콘텐츠 기획의 교수학습 평가 요소 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation Factors of Teaching Learning in the Planning of Cultural Contents by Using PBL)

  • 본 연구는 문화콘텐츠기획의 이해 강의를 통해 PBL(Problem Based Learnign)을 위한 교수 및 학습 방법 도입의 제고와 이를 효과적으로 평가하기 위한 평가요소에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 문화와 문화콘텐츠 그리고 콘텐츠기획으로 학습자들에게 하나의 문화콘텐츠가 완성하기까지의 전 과정에서 스토리텔링이 반영되도록하기 위한 충분한 주도적 학습과 문제 중심 학습의 실용적인 교육방법론을 접목하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 교육현장과 실무, 상황에 따라 유기적으로 팀워크와 협력을 잘 할 수 있도록 교수법에 대한 역할은 충실해야 한다. 수업을 듣는 학생들에게 수요를 충족시키고, 이를 설문을 통하여 반영하며 현실 문제를 적용하고, 수업 전 과정을 습득하게 하였다. 수업을 통해 문화콘텐츠를 기획하고 결과물을 완성하기 까지 학습자들은 서로 협력해야 했으며, 창의적인 아이디어로부터 마지막 결과물이 완성되기까지 팀워크에서 스스로 평가와 동료를 평가를 실시하였다. 그 결과를 함께 공유하고 학생 스스로에게 필요한 PBL평가 요소를 조사할 수 있었고, PBL평가방법에 대한 선행연구와 설문 조사를 통해 문화콘텐츠기획의 이해 과목의 평가요소를 도출해 낼 수 있었다. 도출한 평가요소는 기본통계와 워드클라우드분석, AHP분석을 사용하여 평가요소간의 우선순위를 확인해볼 수 있었다. 도출된 평가요소는 소통능력, 기본지식, 추론과정, 전문성, 평가기술이었다. 본 글을 통해 문화콘텐츠기획의 이해과목을 문제중심학습 수업으로 이끌고, 학생들에게 익숙하고 원활한 수업이 될 수 있도록 유도할 수 있었다.

학교경영컨설턴트의 역량 분석 : 전문가와 예비컨설턴트의 인식을 중심으로 (An Analysis on the Competency of School Management Consultants : The Perceptions of Professional and Prospective Consultants)

  • 이 연구는 학교경영컨설팅을 수행하는 컨설턴트가 갖추어야 하는 역량에 대하여 전문가와 예비컨설턴트의 인식을 중심으로 분석함으로써 학교경영컨설턴트의 역량 강화와 학교컨설팅 연구에 대한 시사점을 도출하고자 수행되었다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 전문가와 예비컨설턴트를 대상으로 역량 중요도와 역량 보유도를 조사하였다. 연구 결과, 학교경영컨설턴트가 갖추어야 하는 주요 역량은 '학교경영컨설팅의 배경 개념 원리', '학교경영컨설팅의 과정방법', '학교경영의 내용', '경청과 공감', '의사소통', '문제해결', '팀워크와 협력', '대인관계', '진정성', '헌신'으로 분석되었다. 전문가와 예비컨설턴트가 인식하는 학교 경영컨설턴트 역량의 중요도 인식에는 차이가 있었고, 예비컨설턴트가 인식하는 학교경영컨설턴트 역량의 중요도와 보유도는 컨설팅 경험을 통하여 변화를 보였다. 이 연구의 결과는 학교경영컨설턴트의 교육과 자격에 반영할 수 있고,학교경영컨설팅의 '학습성' 원리를 확인하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

학습성과 향상을 위한 보봇 이용 공학설계입문 운영사례 (A Case Study of Introduction to Engineering Design Course using Boe-Bot for Improving Course Outcomes)

  • 본 논문에서는 공학설계입문 교과목에서 공학설계에 대한 흥미를 높이면서 교과목 학습 성과를 높일 수 있는 방안에 대하여 연구하였다. 기존의 교재 내용 중심 강의에서 벗어나 본 교과목의 학습성과인 PO3에 해당하는 설계능력과 PO6의 팀웍, PO7의 의사소통 능력을 높일 수 있도록 학습성과 중심으로 주별 강의 내용을 재설계하였다. 그리고 학습성과별 평가도구를 개발하였고, 평가도구별 측정기준(Rubrics)를 정의하였다. 또한 교과목 학습성과의 달성목표를 정하고 결과를 분석하였다. 교과목 학습성과의 향상과 더불어 설계입문 교과목에 대한 흥미와 만족감을 유발하기 위해서 보봇(Boe-Bot)로봇을 이용한 설계 프로젝트를 진행하였다. 학습성과 평가및 강의 평가를 통하여 이전 강의에 비해 학습성과 향상과 더불어 설계에 흥미가 높아졌음을 확인하였다.

임상간호현장에서의 실행연구 여정 (A Journey to Action Research in a Clinical Nursing Context)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of Action Research (AR) approach in nursing. Methods: Participants were 64 perioperative nurses recruited from C hospital in Gwangju, Korea. The nurses were engaged in the project through 2 cycles of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. A mixed-methods design was used to examine changes in participants and their knowledge management practice. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 program and qualitative reflection data underwent content analysis. Results: During the project, participants developed standardized pre-operative checklists and opened an Internet Cafe to better manage their perioperative nursing information. At the end of the project, there was a significant increase in nurses' knowledge management (p=.015) and the rate of surgical material prescription errors decreased from 8.0% to 2.9%. Core AR project team members' teamwork skills and organizational commitment increased significantly (p=.040, p=.301, respectively). The main themes that emerged from the qualitative data were learning how to solve problems in practice, facilitating team activities through motivation, barriers of large participation, and rewarded efforts and inflated expectations. Conclusion: The AR project contributed to empowering participants to solve local problems. AR is a useful methodology to promote changes in practices and research participants.

정보이용능력 교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 대학구성원간 협력방안 연구 (A Study on the Campus-wide Partnership for the Development of information Literacy Instruction Program)

  • 정보기술의 급격한 발전은 이용 가능한 정보량의 급증 뿐 만 아니라 정보의 형태에 있어서도 다양화를 가져왔다. 정보이용능력은 정보를 검색하고, 분석하고 이용하는데 필요한 기술이다. 이는 대학교육의 핵심 목표이자 도서관 교육의 새로운 경향으로 인식되고 있다. 그러나 급증하는 정보이용능력에 관한 관심에도 불구하고, 교육 프로그램이나 교수-사서간의 협력에 관한 논의는 부족한 실정이다. 도서관 교육이 교과과정의 일부가 되기 위해서는 대학구성원간의 긴밀한 협력이 반드시 필요하다. 본 연구는 외국 대학도서관에서 채택하고 있는 정보이용능력 교육 프로그램을 개관하고, 대학구성원간 협력에 있어 성공사례를 분석해보았다. 또한 이를 바탕으로 우리나라 대학에서 정보이용능력 교육의 시행에 필요한 절차의 개요를 제시해보았다

의학 직업전문성의 특성과 실천 원리 (The Attributes and Practical Principle of Medical Professionalism)

  • It is the most important thing at present for physicians to posses the qualification of medical professionalism. A lot of medical schools have made all-out efforts to develop leaders of medicine, who will be able to meet the needs of medical professionalism in this complex medical environment. The purpose of this study is to review the cognitive base of medical professionalism leading the curriculum development of medical professionalism. The discussion of medical professionalism started in the 20th century. During the 1960s, there were attempts to reshape the concepts and attributes of medical professionalism. The government began to intervene in the autonomy of physician and the self regulation policy of medical society in 1970s. Physician may be asked to play as a healer and professional (what?) during their medical practice. The fundamental role of healer such as care, compassion, honesty, integrity, confidentiality, ethical behaviors, and respect with patients were nothing fresh to tell even though the age was changed. The attributes of professional which are physician's autonomy, self regulation, teamwork, and responsibility to society has been changed dramatically over the past five decades. In general, medical educators agreed that professionalism is demonstrated through a foundation of clinical competence, communication skills, and ethical and legal understanding, upon which is built application of the principles of professionalism: excellence, accountability, altruism, and humanism. If physicians fail to show professionalism in society, they will confront the crisis which can be under the government control. The only way to keep their autonomy is to practice medical professionalism. So far today, medical schools have laid more stress on competence than value standards in educational systems and it was restricted for medical students to learn the value standards for medical practice. To understand and practice the medical professionalism, it is the most realistic way to solve the complicated medical problems.

문제중심학습과 신업체 현장실습 연계를 통한 효과적인 PLM 교육에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Problem-Based Learning with Industry Co-operative Program for Effective PLM Education)

  • Generally, a PLM education program in university consists of lectures of theory, software lab and software development raining as an advanced subject. Most industries want more than these, such as practical problem solving capabilities, teamwork skills and engineering communications including human relationship, rhetoric, technical writing, presentation and etc. Problem-Based Learning is a problem-stimulated and student-centered teaming method, and an innovative education strategy for collaborative and self-directed learning by applying real world problems. Education paradigm changes from "teaching" to "learning" accomplished by team working, and students are encouraged to develop, present, explain and defense their ideas, suggestions or solutions of a problem, and the "cooperative teaming" proceeds spontaneously during team operations. Co-operative education program is an into-grated academic model and a structured educational program combining classroom learning with productive work experience in a field related to a student's academic or career goals. Based on the partnership between academic institutions and industries, students are engaged in real and productive "work" in the industry, in contrast with merely observing. In this paper, PBL with Co-op program is suggested as an effective approach for PLM education, and we made and operated a PBL-based education course with industry co-op program. The Co-op education in industry accompanied with the PBL course in university can improve practical problem solving capabilities of students, including modeling and management of P3R(Product, Process, resource and Plant) using commercial PLM software tools. By the result, we found this to be an effective strategy for helping students, professors and industries succeed in engineering education, especially PLM area.
