We investigated the middle school students' perception and needs for the Education of Korean Traditional foods and culture in their educational curriculum. This study was carried out by using a self-administered questionnaire and 600 middle school students in Gyeonggi province were participated. Most of subjects took the Education of Korean Traditional foods and culture as a part of Technology and Home Economics Education. They recognized that this lecture is necessary and effective, since it is of great help to their life. However, lecture was descriptively given by teacher and not actively participated by students. Therefore, students requested for more practical methods of teaching and learning. They also desired that the education should comprise what will be helpful in a real life. These results suggested that current teaching and learning methods should be corrected and complemented in such a way as to reflect relevant contents and learners' demands which are useful in a real life, so that the Education of Korean Traditional foods and culture may be conducted through middle school subjects of Technology and Home Economics Education in an effective way at school.

  • This dissertation aims to analyze various safety accidents taking place during physical education class according to physical education teacher's value orientation, to identify teacher's value orientation that can minimize safety accidents, and to provide basic materials for safe and smooth class management. For this purpose, data have been collected from 261 physical education teachers at some middle and high schools in G City in Kyung-Ki Province and Busan Metropolitan City. The materials were treated as follows: The variables on demographic characteristics of physical education teachers are determined by t-test ; The analysis of one-way ANOVA and relationship between value orientation and safety accident prevention activities was conducted through Pearson's linear correlation analysis and multiple regression; The analysis of the relationship between value orientation and actual conditions of safety accidents was conducted through logistic regression. First, there is almost no awareness difference of physical education teachers' value orientation according to demographical variables. The value orientation physical education teachers consider to be the most important is, however, mainly 'mastery of disciplinary lesson.' There is a statistically significant difference in safety accident prevention activities according to demographical variables. Teachers' focuses in class contents showed a significant difference according to teaching experience and working area, while the dependency on facility has a significant difference according to teaching experience and school type. Second, there is no correlation between physical education teacher's value orientation and safety accident prevention activities because there is virtually no statistically significant difference between them. It means that safety accident prevention activities are not related with on which teachers place emphasis among mastery of disciplinary lesson, social reconstruction, self-realization, ecological integration and value orientation on learning process. Third, the analysis of safety accident prevention activities according to physical education teachers' value orientation revealed that the lower value orientation in social reconstruction is, the more safety accidents teachers experience. It is also found that crashes among students, ball games and leg injuries are inter-related with social reconstruction in value orientation, over-motivation and unskilled motor function ; athletic sports with value orientation on learning process and safety prevention training ; unskilled motor functions with value orientation in ecological integration and disobedience to teacher's directions ; winter accidents with mastery of disciplinary lesson in value orientation. In conclusion, the research indicates that physical education teacher's value orientation according to demographical variables didn't show any significant difference, while one according to safety accident prevention activities showed significant difference. Besides, physical education teachers' value orientation is not related to safety accident prevention activities, but the relationship between value orientation and actual conditions of safety accidents showed correlations according to each variable. Especially, teachers with lower value orientation in social reconstruction experienced more safety accidents. Therefore, physical education teachers can manage physical education class more safely with more emphasis on value orientation in social reconstruction.

  • In this study, we analyzed the characteristics of science academic achievement by multiple culture and North Korean migrant students types, percentage of correct answer and discrimination per items per groups, and contents domains using quantitative and qualitative method in the National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA). As a results of analysis, the degree of science academic achievement of the students from multiple culture and North Korean is much lower than that of the general students. Also, the science academic achievement of the students from multiple culture and North Korean migrant is different from the general students. Especially, science academic achievement of the immigrated students and the North Korean migrant students was lowest. The analysis of items that the difference of the percentage of correct answer was large showed that the students from multiple culture and North Korean migrant were equally weak to it in all contents domains, but that the students from international marriage family born in country were weak in some areas. Therefore, the appropriate the teaching and learning method and the educational support is needed considering the group situation, so the educational implications are discussed.

Putting together preceding researches related to the concept and structure of creativity character through the theoretical approach, the in-depth interview and open survey were conducted targeting 70 specialists in education, education engineering, consultation meeting, and researchers' meeting about creativity character of college students. In the results, as creativity character for college students, creativity was classified into cognitive creativity and affective creativity while character was classified into moral character, social character, and emotional character. Especially, the creativity character of college students emphasized the importance of character more than creativity. Through such results, it aims to suggest a new perspective on creativity character of college students, and moreover to provide basic data to set up the research direction to develop a tool to measure creativity character of college students for follow-up researches. Also, it is considered to establish the theoretical, empirical foundation contributing to the establishment of teaching-learning method and education engineering qualitatively enhanced in the site of college.

  • The Korean history textbook is a basic teaching material for learning history. Students learn the past and also understand history through Korean history textbooks. The Korean history textbooks are comprised of educational materials arousing students' interest. What is helpful to education in the visual form is photo materials. As visual data, such photo materials play roles not only in arousing students' interest more than texts filled with writings, but also in making students experience history of the time indirectly in more objective form. Since such photo materials are playing essential roles in Korean history textbooks, if photos with errors are used, it can create huge confusion. This study analyzed the reliability and suitability of photo materials in eight Korean history textbooks of high school, depending on each type of photo. Then it suggested the measures of composing photo materials in Korean history textbooks revised in the future. The future textbooks will contain more amount of photo materials with the higher weight of photo materials.

  • The purpose of this study was examine the effects of STEAM(Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-mathematics) activities on young children's scientific process skill ability and problem solving ability. Subjects were 34 five-year-old young children from S and H child care centers located in G city. Subjects were divided into an experimental(n=17) and a control group(n=17). The experimental group took part in the STEAM activities during 8 weeks, while the control group took part in the traditional science activities. The procedure for this study consisted of a pre-study, a pre-test, the treatment, and a post-test schedule. The results of this study were as follows: First, the experimental group showed significantly higher score than the control group in total scientific process skill ability. Second, the experimental group showed significantly higher score than the control group in total problem solving ability. These findings suggest that the experience of STEAM activities for young children can be effective teaching-learning methods for young children's scientific process skill ability and problem solving ability.
