After measuring science teaching efficacy belief of 109 teachers from nine elementary schools, three teachers who received the high score and three teachers who received the low score were selected from each 5th and 6th grade. Science process skills and scientific attitudes of 331 students who were in the selected 12 teachers' classes were measured. The results of this study were as follows; First, there were significant differences on the elementary school teachers' science teaching efficacy belief according to teacher's gender and career. The men's average score was clearly higher than women's average score on personal science teaching efficacy in science teaching efficacy belief according to teacher's gender. There was a obvious difference between the group of more than six-year less than ten-year and the group of more than fifteen-year less than twenty-year, the group of more than twenty-year on science teaching outcome expectancy in science teaching efficacy belief according to teacher's career. Second, there was not a evident difference on the elementary school students' science process skill according to the level of the elementary school teachers' science teaching efficacy. Third, there was a distinct difference on the elementary school students' scientific attitude according to the elementary school teachers' science teaching efficacy. There was a significant difference on the openness and the endurance in each scientific attitude. The level of science teaching efficacy belief in the elementary school teachers had few effects on the elementary school students' science process skill, on the other hand the level of science teaching efficacy belief in the elementary school teachers had an positive effect on the elementary school students' scientific attitude.

  • The ultimate goal of career guidance is to help medical students develop a career plan that matches their personal characteristics, allows them to train in their desired subspecialty, and helps them to adapt well to medical practice after graduation. Gachon Medical School has designed a longitudinal career guidance program called GLORI (Gachon Longitudinal Orientation and Career Development), which is based on the outcome of each phase. The program consists of regular courses and portfolio-based career guidance from a mentor professor. In phase 2 (basic medical science), the "Career Seminar" course was developed. This course focuses on self-understanding through a psychological inventory, exploration of postgraduate career paths, and interviews with professors in specialties of interest. In phase 3 (the integration of basic and clinical science), the "Exploring Nonclinical Career Options" course was introduced. This course presents perspectives from doctors who have followed various pioneering career trajectories, including biomedical engineering, medical journalism, writing, public health, health care administration, the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, and other areas. All teaching methods were designed to encourage student participation. The assessment methods are assignment-based, including self-reflective reports and presentations. In addition, a portfolio-based career guidance program is implemented in phases 3 and 4 (clinical clerkship). It is expected that this case study will serve as a practical example for developing comprehensive career guidance programs for medical schools.

To achieve this purpose, this study used the instruments of CBAM, including stages of concern questionnarie. The results of this study was as follows. Firstly, most teachers were in 0 stage, which meant they had little concern on open inquiry in science instruction. Secondly, the teachers who had teaching career of less than or 10 years were no more interested in open inquiry than teachers who had teaching career of 11-20 years. Thirdly, the training experience and teaching experience of open inquiry didn't show a statistically significant difference. Based on these results, this study suggested that we need educational programs and supporting strategies to heighten concerns and enthusiasm of teachers and pre-service teachers on open inquiry in science instruction.

  • This paper explores how unequally successful mathematics practices were constructed in the two elementary mathematics classrooms. The interview data that pertain to the two teachers' personal reflections on the influences on their professional development were used as a source of inquiry to identify the underlying factors that might account for the differences and the similarities in implementing reform ideals in teaching mathematics. This affords not only exploration of the challenges of moving teaching practices toward student-centered approaches but also insight of the processes of developing mathematics teaching practices through teachers\`own career paths.

  • This study examined the association among practical teaching competence (PTC) and teaching efficacy (TE), and explored the mediation effects of theoretical teaching competence (TTC) between the PTC and TE of Practical Arts (Technology and Home Economics Education) teachers. Data were collected from the 301 survey responses completed by elementary, middle, and high school teachers. All teachers showed high levels of PTC, TTC, and TE. Elementary school teachers perceived higher PTC than middle and high school teachers. PTC, TTC, TE showed significant effect in regards to teacher's age and teaching career. Using multiple regression analysis, this study found that TTC fully mediated PTC and TE of elementary school teachers. For middle and high school teachers, there was a partial mediation effect of TTC in the relationship between PTC and TE. This study suggests that teacher education programs should develop a program that can enhance teaching efficacy by cultivating TTC and support teachers who want to strengthen competence, and more practical opportunities to practice teaching.
