A Study on Authentication Protocol for Secure RFID Tag (RFID Tag 보안을 위한 인증 프로토콜에 관한 연구)

  • Firstly, this dissertation suggests the tag ID transfer method using two-dimensional arrangement. Secondly, provide better and stable security system compare to existing one by transferring tag; ID using established two-dimensional arrangement. Thirdly, provide operating module, which possible to descramble two-dimensional arrangement, with a character set when descrambling in a tag and a server. Lastly, suggest safe key transfer using a character set and two-dimensional arrangement. In order to embody suggested system and assess, transferred two-dimensional arrangement several times to carry out the experiment. Confirmed that it is impossible for suggested system to decode key patterns compare to existing RFID systems.

  • RFID is applied in various industry area. The purpose of RFID system is authentication of objects. After Tag's certification, RFID system start to process to be wanted. A RFID electric motor recognizes Tag's action and tails. The application of this system is very wide. For example, a cart in shopping Mall follows customer with a proper Tag. Customer may be very convenient if the cart follows customer autonomously as recognizing the direction of Tag. In this parer, we studied about RFID system that follow objects with a Tag. Finally, we experimented and analysed the proposed system, with Tag, Reader, host computer and electric motion motors.

  • RFID systems are being studied and developed in the area of the industry and marketplace. Recently RFID systems are core element of the ubiquitous technologies in individual life and industry. However, RFID systems often cause some serious problems such as violation of privacy and information security because their contactless devices communicate each other by radio frequency In this paper, we propose multiple objects RFID tag scheme including tag structure and authentication protocol. The proposed RFID tag structure maintains several object IDs of different applications in a tag memory. The tag structure allows those applications to access object IDs simultaneously. The authentication protocol for multiple objects tag is designed ta overcome the problems of security and privacy. The protocol has robustness against various attacks in low cost RFID systems. We evaluate the efficiency of proposed scheme and compare security of our scheme with several traditional schemes.

Enhanced RFID Mutual Authentication Protocol on Efficient Supply Chain Management (효율적인 공급망 관리를 위한 강화된 RFID 상호 인증 프로토콜)

  • Chen et al. proposed a RFID authentication protocol for anti-counterfeiting and privacy protection. A feasible security mechanism for anti-counterfeiting and privacy protection was proposed using XOR and random number shifting operations to enhance RFID tag's security providing a low cost. However, their authentication protocol has some drawbacks and security problems because they did not consider the surrounding environments. We conduct analysis on the protocol and identify problematic areas for improvement of the research. We also provide enhanced authentication and update scheme based on the comment for efficient supply chain management. The proposed protocol was analyzed and compared with typical XOR based RFID authentication protocols and it was confirmed that our protocol has high safety and low communication cost.

  • RFID is method used on wireless system. However, this mechanism is not used for authentication and security. Therefore, it is very vulnerable to attacks such as dropping attacks and traffic attacks. the RFID Tags are of the limited nature due to environment factors and there is greater constraints in designing authentication protocol. If we do not RFID to secure corporate information and product all the information will be exposed. The attacker will break into the RFID system and stop the distribution system. So, this paper proposes a new authentication protocol which provides not only unlimited access to Tag&Reader and connection between Tag and Reader bet also provides authentication mechanism by defining the key distribution.

  • Recently, the ultra-lightweight authentication RFID protocol that can actually implement on the RFID Tag is one among authentication protocols getting a concern, but recently many problems were clarified of the feature becase of the protocol which doesn't use the security algorithm. In this paper, we analyzed the problem of the ultra-lightweight authentication protocols and propose the design of ultra-lightweight RFID authentic ation protocols improving the index processing techniques. Because of improving the index processing technique in the method sending the Server authentication message to the authenticated tag, the proposed protocol is strong against the active attack which Li presents. Besides, the proposed protocol has the buffer storage of the keys and index and is strong against the asynchronous attack.

Design of Security-Enhanced RFID Authentication Protocol Based on AES Cipher Algorithm (AES 암호 알고리듬 기반 보안성이 강화된 RFID 인증 프로토콜 설계)

  • This paper proposes the design of a security-enhanced RFID authentication protocol which meets the privacy protection for tag bearers. The protocol which uses AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) cipher algorithm is based on a three-way challenge response authentication scheme. In addition, three different types of protocol packet formats are also presented by extending the ISO/IEC 18000-3 standard for realizing the security-enhanced authentication mechanism in RFID system environment. Through the comparison of security, it was shown that the proposed scheme has better performance in user data confidentiality, Man-in-the-middle replay attack, and replay attack, and forgery resistance, compared with conventional some protocols. In order to validate the proposed protocol, a digital Codec of RFID tag is also designed based on the protocol. This Codec has been described in Verilog HDL and also synthesized using Xilinx Virtex XCV400E device.

  • Recently, Chein et al proposed the ultralightweight strong authentication and strong integrity (SASI)protocol, where the tag requrires only simple bitwise operations. Since the tag does not support random number generator to generate a challenge nonce, an attacker can replay old messages and impersonate reader. However, all of the previous ultralightweight authentication schemes are vlunerable to various attacks: de-synk, eavesdropping, impersonating, tracking, DoS, disclosure etc. we analyze the problems of previous proposed ultrlightweight protocols, to overcome these security problems by using PRNG on the tag. Therefore, in this paper we propose a new lightweight RFID mutual authentication protocol that provides random number generator and bitwise operations, a security and an efficiency of the proposed schme analyze.

  • The RFID system has the security problem of location tracking and user privacy. In order to solve this problem, the cryptographic access method using hash function is difficult to in real applications. Because there is a limit of computing and storage capacity of Tag, but the safety is proved. The lightweight authentication methods like HB and LMAP guarantee the high efficiency, but the safety is not enough to use. In this paper, we use the AES for RFID Authentication, and solve the problem of using fixed key with key change step by step. The symmetric keys of the tag and server are changed by the random number generated by tag, reader and server successively. This could prevent the key exposure. As a result, the output of the tag and reader always changes. These key changes could make it possible to prevent eavesdropping, replay attack, location tracking and spoofing.

  • RFID, a non-contact wireless identification technology is being noticed as a technology to alternate barcode system in distribution industry and general industry. Despite of merit of RFID, there are issues to be solved for practical use. One of them, which are most important, is resolution of user's information protection. RFID system without security function bears risk exposing personal data and user's privacy. In this paper, we propose mutual authentication protocol for RFID system in order to solve this security issue. This study aimed to protect user's privacy by providing dynamic ID for tag through authentication protocol safe from security threats. Information being transmitted between backend, reader and tag has no direct connection with ID of tag, and it conducts authentication process using one-way hash function, which prevents attacker's obtaining of tag information using information being transmitted.
