  • Let $k$ be a field containing the field $\mathbb{Q}$ of rational numbers and let $R=k[x_{ij}{\mid}1{\leq}i{\leq}m,\;1{\leq}j{\leq}n]$ be the polynomial ring over a field $k$ with indeterminates $x_{ij}$. Let $I_t(X)$ be the determinantal ideal generated by the $t$-minors of an $m{\times}n$ matrix $X=(x_{ij})$. Eagon and Hochster proved that $I_t(X)$ is a perfect ideal of grade $(m-t+1)(n-t+1)$. We give a structure theorem for a class of determinantal ideals of grade 3. This gives us a characterization that $I_t(X)$ has grade 3 if and only if $n=m+2$ and $I_t(X)$ has the minimal free resolution $\mathbb{F}$ such that the second dierential map of $\mathbb{F}$ is a matrix defined by complete matrices of grade $n+2$.

  • Let M be a finite commutative nilpotent algebra over a perfect field k of prime characteristic p and let $M^p$ be the sub-algebra of M generated by $x^p$, $x{\in}M$. Eggert[3] conjectures that $dim_kM{\geq}pdim_kM^p$. In this paper, we show that the conjecture holds for $M=R^+/I$, where $R=k[X_1,\;X_2,\;{\cdots},\;X_t]$ is a polynomial ring with indeterminates $X_1,\;X_2,\;{\cdots},\;X_t$ over k and $R^+$ is the maximal ideal of R generated by $X_1,\;X_2,{\cdots},\;X_t$ and I is a monomial ideal of R containing $X_1^{n_1+1},\;X_2^{n_2+1},\;{\cdots},\;X_t^{n_t+1}$ ($n_i{\geq}0$ for all i).

  • Let (R, m) be a commutative Noetherian local domain, M a non-zero finitely generated R-module of dimension n > 0 and I be an ideal of R. In this paper it is shown that if $x_1,{\ldots },x_t$ ($1{\leq}t{\leq}n$) be a sub-set of a system of parameters for M, then the R-module $H^t_{(x_1,{\ldots },x_t)}$(R) is faithful, i.e., Ann $H^t_{(x_1,{\ldots },x_t)}$(R) = 0. Also, it is shown that, if $H^i_I$ (R) = 0 for all i > dim R - dim R/I, then the R-module $H^{dimR-dimR/I}_I(R)$ is faithful. These results provide some partially affirmative answers to the Lynch's conjecture in [10]. Moreover, for an ideal I of an arbitrary Noetherian ring R, we calculate the annihilator of the top local cohomology module $H^1_I(M)$, when $H^i_I(M)=0$ for all integers i > 1. Also, for such ideals we show that the finitely generated R-algebra $D_I(R)$ is a flat R-algebra.

  • The membership of the generalized local cohomology modules $H_a^i$(M,N) of two R-modules M and N with respect to an ideal a in certain Serre subcategories of the category of modules is studied from below ($i<t$). Furthermore, the behaviour of the $n$th graded component $H_a^i(M,N)_n$ of the generalized local cohomology modules with respect to an ideal containing the irrelevant ideal as $n{\rightarrow}-{\infty}$ is investigated by using the above result, in certain graded situations.

  • In this paper we will show that the followings ; (1) Let R be a regular local ring of dimension n. Then $A_{n-2}$(R) = 0. (2) Let R be a regular local ring of dimension n and I be an ideal in R of height 3 such that R/I is a Gorenstein ring. Then [I] = 0 in $A_{n-3}$(R). (3) Let R = V[[ $X_1$, $X_2$, …, $X_{5}$ ]]/(p+ $X_1$$^{t1}$ + $X_2$$^{t2}$ + $X_3$$^{t3}$ + $X_4$$^2$+ $X_{5}$ $^2$/), where p $\neq$2, $t_1$, $t_2$, $t_3$ are arbitrary positive integers and V is a complete discrete valuation ring with (p) = mv. Assume that R/m is algebraically closed. Then all the Chow group for R is 0 except the last Chow group.group.oup.

  • Let (R, m) be a 2-dimensional regular local ring with algebraically closed residue field R/m. Let K be the quotient field of R and v be a prime divisor of R, i.e., a valuation of K which is birationally dominating R and residually transcendental over R. Zariski showed that there are finitely many simple v-ideals $m=P_0\;{\supset}\;P_1\;{\supset}\;{\cdotS}\;{\supset}\;P_t=P$ and all the other v-ideals are uniquely factored into a product of those simple ones. It then was also shown by Lipman that the predecessor of the smallest simple v-ideal P is either simple (P is free) or the product of two simple v-ideals (P is satellite), that the sequence of v-ideals between the maximal ideal and the smallest simple v-ideal P is saturated, and that the v-value of the maximal ideal is the m-adic order of P. Let m = (x, y) and denote the v-value difference |v(x) - v(y)| by $n_v$. In this paper, if the m-adic order of P is 2, we show that $O(P_i)\;=\;1\;for\;1\;{\leq}\;i\; {\leq}\;{\lceil}\;{\frac{b+1}{2}}{\rceil}\;and\;O(P_i)\;=2\;for\;{\lceil}\;\frac{b+3}{2}\rceil\;{\leq}\;i\;\leq\;t,\;where\;b=n_v$. We also show that $n_w\;=\;n_v$ when w is the prime divisor associated to a simple v-ideal $Q\;{\supset}\;P$ of order 2 and that w(R) = v(R) as well.

  • In this paper we study the structure of closed weakly dense ideals in Privalov spaces $N^p$ (1 < p < $\infty$) of holomorphic functions on the disk $\mathbb{D}$ : |z| < 1. The space $N^p$ with the topology given by Stoll's metric [21] becomes an F-algebra. N. Mochizuki [16] proved that a closed ideal in $N^p$ is a principal ideal generated by an inner function. Consequently, a closed subspace E of $N^p$ is invariant under multiplication by z if and only if it has the form $IN^p$ for some inner function I. We prove that if $\cal{M}$ is a closed ideal in $N^p$ that is dense in the weak topology of $N^p$, then $\cal{M}$ is generated by a singular inner function. On the other hand, if $S_{\mu}$ is a singular inner function whose associated singular measure $\mu$ has the modulus of continuity $O(t^{(p-1)/p})$, then we prove that the ideal $S_{\mu}N^p$ is weakly dense in $N^p$. Consequently, for such singular inner function $S_{\mu}$, the quotient space $N^p/S_{\mu}N^p$ is an F-space with trivial dual, and hence $N^p$ does not have the separation property.

  • Let (R, m) be a 2-dimensional regular local ring with algebraically closed residue field R/m. Let K be the quotient field of R and $\upsilon$ be a prime divisor of R, i.e., a valuation of K which is birationally dominating R and residually transcendental over R. Zariski showed that there are finitely many simple $\upsilon$-ideals $m\;=\;P_0\;{\supset}\;P_1\;{\supset}\;{\cdots}\;{\supset}\;P_t\;=\;P$ and all the other $\upsilon$-ideals are uniquely factored into a product of those simple ones [17]. Lipman further showed that the predecessor of the smallest simple $\upsilon$-ideal P is either simple or the product of two simple $\upsilon$-ideals. The simple integrally closed ideal P is said to be free for the former and satellite for the later. In this paper we describe the sequence of simple $\upsilon$-ideals when P is satellite of order 3 in terms of the invariant $b_{\upsilon}\;=\;|\upsilon(x)\;-\;\upsilon(y)|$, where $\upsilon$ is the prime divisor associated to P and m = (x, y). Denote $b_{\upsilon}$ by b and let b = 3k + 1 for k = 0, 1, 2. Let $n_i$ be the number of nonmaximal simple $\upsilon$-ideals of order i for i = 1, 2, 3. We show that the numbers $n_{\upsilon}$ = ($n_1$, $n_2$, $n_3$) = (${\lceil}\frac{b+1}{3}{\rceil}$, 1, 1) and that the rank of P is ${\lceil}\frac{b+7}{3}{\rceil}$ = k + 3. We then describe all the $\upsilon$-ideals from m to P as products of those simple $\upsilon$-ideals. In particular, we find the conductor ideal and the $\upsilon$-predecessor of the given ideal P in cases of b = 1, 2 and for b = 3k + 1, 3k + 2, 3k for $k\;{\geq}\;1$. We also find the value semigroup $\upsilon(R)$ of a satellite simple valuation ideal P of order 3 in terms of $b_{\upsilon}$.

  • Let R be a commutative Noetherian (not necessarily local) ring, I an ideal of R and M a finitely generated R-module. In this paper, by computing the local cohomology modules and Ext-modules via the injective resolution of M, we proved that, if for an integer t > 0, dim$_RH_I^i(M){\leq}k$ for ${\forall}i$ < t, then $$\displaystyle\bigcup_{i=0}^{j}(Ass_RH_I^i(M))_{{\geq}k}=\displaystyle\bigcup_{i=0}^{j}(Ass_RExt_R^i(R/I^n,M))_{{\geq}k}$$ for ${\forall}j{\leq}t$ and ${\forall}n$ >0. This shows that${\bigcup}_{n>0}(Ass_RExt_R^i(R/I^n,M))_{{\geq}k}$ is a finite set for ${\forall}i{\leq}t$. Also, we prove that $\displaystyle\bigcup_{i=1}^{r}(Ass_RM/(x_1^{n_1},x_2^{n_2},{\ldots},x_i^{n_i})M)_{{\geq}k}=\displaystyle\bigcup_{i=1}^{r}(Ass_RM/(x_1,x_2,{\ldots},x_i)M)_{{\geq}k}$ if $x_1,x_2,{\ldots},x_r$ is M-sequences in dimension > k and $n_1,n_2,{\ldots},n_r$ are some positive integers. Here, for a subset T of Spec(R), set $T_{{\geq}i}=\{{p{\in}T{\mid}dimR/p{\geq}i}\}$.
