  • The mathematical method was developed and numerical analyses were carried out with various parameters to provide substantial data for optimal design and operation of urban utility systems. The composition of systems and their specifications, such as co-generation system, heat pump system, incineration system and other heating and cooling system could be obtained through these analyses for various resource and energy requirements in urban area. As results the system constituents and operating characteristics, and their economic performances such as the value of objective function, initial and an operating costs were discussed for various load patterns. The effective system design method and the excepted effects of the several unused energy recovery systems were also briefly discussed with the variation of the buildings and facilities species and their capacities.

  • The problems of mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filtering design fer continuous and discrete time linear systems with time delay are investigated. The main purpose is to design a stable mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filter which minimizes the H$_2$Performance measure satisfying a prescribed H$_{\infty}$ norm bound on the closed loop system in continuous-time case and discrete-time case, respectively. The sufficient conditions of existence of filter, the mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filter design method, and the upper bound of performance measure are proposed by LMI(linear matrix inequality) techniques in terms of all finding variables. Also, we present optimization problems in order to get the optimal mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filter in continuous and discrete time case, respectively.

  • This study investigates the direct displacement based design (DDBD) approach for different types of reinforced concrete structural systems including single moment-resisting, dual wall-frame and dual steel-braced systems. In this methodology, the displacement profile is calculated and the equivalent single degree of freedom system is then modeled considering the damping characteristics of each member. Having calculated the effective period and secant stiffness of the structure, the base shear is obtained, based on which the design process can be carried out. For each system three frames are designed using DDBD approach. The frames are then analyzed using nonlinear time-history analysis with 7 earthquake accelerograms and the damage index is investigated through lateral drift profile of the models. Results of the analyses and comparison of the nonlinear time-history analysis results indicate efficiency of the DDBD approach for different reinforced concrete structural systems.

  • In this paper, we present a reduced-order observer for a class of nonlinear systems based on the input output linearization. While the most results in the literature presented full-order nonlinear observer, we proposed a procedure for the design of reduced-order observer far nonlinear systems that are not necessarily observable. Assuming that there exists a global observer fer internal dynamics and that certain functions are globally Lipschitz, we can design a global reduced-order observer An illustrative example is included that demonstrate the design procedure of the proposed reduced-order observer.

  • A design method of a T-S fuzzy model based reduced order nonlinear unknown input observer(NUIO) is presented. The fuzzy NUIO is designed based on the parallel distributed compensation(PDC) concept. It consists of a number of the linear UIOs, each of which is designed for each local linear model in the T-S fuzzy model of a class of nonlinear systems. The fuzzy NUIO provides not only the state estimates insensitive to the unknown inputs, for example, disturbances and faults etc., but also the estimates of the unknown inputs. Therefore, It can be employed in the state feedback control and disturbance rejection control of a class of nonlinear systems with unknown disturbances. It also applied to the robust residual generation for the fault detection and isolation systems and to the design of fault tolerant control systems. As an example, the NUIO is applied to an inverted pendulum system to show the state and disturbance estimation performance and to illustrate the fuzzy reduced order NUIO design method.

  • This paper describes a new method for the design of adaptive model-following control systems. This design concept is developed using the theory of slide mode. Authors present new results on the sliding control methodology to achieve accurate tracking for a class of multi-input multi-output, time-varying systems in the presence of parameter variations and disturbances. This algorithm can be easily applied to the multivariable control systems and obtained a smoother control signal in comparison to variable structure model following control systems. The design technique is easy and the control structure is simple. The design requires little computational effort. The control system is less sensitive to plant parameter variations and noise disturbances.

  • Observer design for the nonlinear systems is known to be difficult in general. This paper suggests a feedback GA-based model predictive observer for the observable systems. Feedback concept makes on-line design possible for the cases including observer design, where GA is implemented repeatedly every time instant. The effectiveness of our observer is shown by simulation.

  • This paper describes the design parameters for permanent magnet actuator(PMA). Recently, a PMA is great attention and increased in used. However, it needs a technique for applying design parameters in order to satisfy characteristics of PMA. In this paper, presented the design parameters for PMA that has both a mutual relation and a consideration for load.

  • The principle of matching is a new framework for control systems design that requires the matching between the control system and the environment (the source of exogenous inputs). The principle is especially useful for the design of the critical control systems where the responses of the control systems should be kept below the prescribed values. The design problem is reduced to find controller satisfying inequality constraints. However, conventional optimization techniques do not possess structural model selection ability and designers are required to select appropriate controller model. We propose to use a genetic algorithm to find an appropriate controller satisfying the matching conditions. The proposed genetic algorithm ...

  • As of these, the exterior design of the public transportation systems, especially electric multiple, tends to mimic advanced country's design rather than design of car shape reflecting cultural and spiritual background. However, in the new transportation system, the design which satisfies the transportation demand must be changed into the design which creates transportation demand. In this respect, this research focuses on the factor's embodiment which is perceived by Korean passenger sympathetic to cultural and spiritual needs. The results of this research are Korean AGT design on rubber tire AGT, steel wheel AGT, LM AGT system and environmental design related to AGT systems.
