SDH 기반의 동기식 네트워크 시스템 구현 (Design of Synchronous Network System based on SDH)

  • In this paper, we implemented a SDH synchronous network system based on ITU-T recommendation G.707 - Network node interface for the synchronous digital archy(SDH). For the system, we used signal processing SDH ASIC, and designed a FPGA_Control chip for various signal control and a FPGA_Alignment cllip for data alignment using YHDL(Very high speed integrated circuit Hardware Description Language). For system monitoring, an operation system was developed using ANSI C and executed in CPU (Motorola MPC-860). The system was evaluated by using ANT-20 for data transmission error defection, jitter detection, pointer chocking, and overhead determination.

Comparison of FPGA-based Direct Torque Controllers for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

  • This paper compares two types of direct torque controllers for permanent magnet synchronous motors(PMSMs). These controllers both use a single-chip FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) but have differing hardware configurations. One of the controllers was constructed by programming a soft-core CPU and hardware logic circuits written in VHDL(Very high speed IC Hardware Description Language), while the other was constructed of only hardware logic circuits. The characteristics of these two controllers were compared in this paper. The results show the controller constructed of only hardware logic circuits was able to shorten the control period and it was able to suppress the low torque ripple.

함수적 속성을 가지는 협업 지원 시각언어 (A Visual Language supporting Collaboration with Functional Attributes)

  • 본 논문에서는 함수적 속성을 가지는 협업 지원 시각언어를 제안한다. 제안한 시각언어는 객체 아이콘과 연산자들로 구성되는 시각 문장의 집합이다. 객체 아이콘은 협업에 참여하는 사용자를 의미하고 연산자는 사용자간 상호작용 시점에 따른 협업 관계를 의미한다. 시각 문장은 함수적 속성에 따라 연산되며, 연산 결과에 따라 다양한 협업을 지원한다. 함수적 속성은 시각 문장에서 다양한 연산 순서를 지원함으로서 협업 관계의 융통성을 제공한다. 또한, 동기 및 비동기 협업을 함께 표현함으로써 기존 시각언어보다 효율적인 협업을 지원한다. 그리고 시각 문장의 함수적 속성은 $\lambda$수식으로 분석한다.

스마트그리드를 위한 다채널 동기 및 비동기 통신용 IC 설계 (The Design of Multi-channel Synchronous and Asynchronous Communication IC for the Smart Grid)

  • In this paper, the IC(Integrated Circuit) for multi-channel synchronous communication was designed by using FPGA and VHDL language. The existing chips for synchronous communication that has been used commercially are composed for one to two channels. Therefore, when communication system with three channels or more is made, the cost becomes high and it becomes complicated for communication system to be realized and also has very little buffer, load that is placed into Microprocessor increases heavily in case of high speed communication or transmission of high-capacity data. The designed IC was improved the function and performance of communication system and reduced costs by designing 8 synchronous communication channels with only one IC, and it has the size of transmitter/receiver buffer with 1024 bytes respectively and consequently high speed communication became possible. It was designed with a communication signal of a form various encoding. To detect errors of communications, the CRC-ITU-T logic and channel MUX logic was designed with hardware logics so that the malfunction can be prevented and errors can be detected more easily and input/output port regarding each communication channel can be used flexibly and consequently the reliability of system was improved. In order to show the performance of designed IC, the test was conducted successfully in Quartus simulation and experiment and the excellence was compared with the 85C3016VSC of ZILOG company that are used widely as chips for synchronous communication.

과제 중심 학습에서 어휘 능력의 구성요소와 평가 (Vocabulary assessment based on construct definition in task-based language learning)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose an efficient vocabulary assessment model in task-based language learning and to verify the viability of this assessment model. Bachman and Palmer (1996) pointed out the fact that many language tests focus on just one of the areas of language knowledge. However, researchers suggested that it is necessary to acknowledge the needs of several analytic scales, which can provide separate ratings for different components of the language ability to be tested. Although there were many studies which tried to evaluate the various aspects of vocabulary ability, most of them measured only one or two factors. Based on previous research, this study proposed an assessment model of general construct of vocabulary ability and tried to measure vocabulary ability in four separate areas. The subjects were two classes of university level Korean EFL students. They participated in small group discussion via synchronous CMC. One class used a lexically focused task, which was proposed by Kim and Jeong (2006) and the other class used a non-lexically focused task. The results showed that the students with a lexically focused task significantly outperformed those with a non-lexically focused task in overall vocabulary ability as well as four subdivisions of vocabulary ability. In conclusion, the assessment model of separate ratings is a viable measure of vocabulary ability and this can provide elaborate interpretation of vocabulary ability.

동기화된 협동을 지원하기 위한 능동형 웹 서버 설계 (A Design of the Active Web Server Supporting Synchronous Collaboration in the Web-Based Groupware Systems)

  • The web-based groupware systems hold many possibilities for system developers and users. Especially, web-based group collaborative systems are emerging as enterprise-wide information systems. Since data in group collaborative systems are apt to be shared among multiple concurrent users and modified simutaneously by them, the web-based group collaborative systems must support synchronous collaboration in order to provide users with synchronized and consistent views of shared data. However, current web technologies have limitations in supporting this, largely because the existing Hypertext Transfer Protocol(HTTP) is unidirectional and does not allow web servers to send messages to their web browsers without first receiving requests from them. This paper proposes an active web server that can overcome such limitations and facilitate synchronous collaboration in web-based group collaborative systems. To accomplish such goals, the active web server manages dependency relationships beween shared data and web browsers referencing them and actively propagates changing details of the shared data to all web browsers referencing them. And, this paper examines usefulness and effectiveness of the active web server to apply it to the ball-bearing design example of concurrent engineering design systems. The prototype system of the active web server is developed on a commercial Object-oriented Database Management System(0DBMS) called OBJECTSTERE using the C++ programming language.

Interactional Modifications in Text-based Chats between Korean and Japanese Students

  • This study investigates the types of interactional modifications employed by Japanese and Korean university students during text-based chats. In particular, this study focuses on the role of a network-based medium on the use of interactional modifications, which have been claimed to facilitate interlanguage development. The results show that students use a variety of features of interactional modifications. The most used strategies were the use of paralinguistic features, framing, overt indication of understanding/agreement, and clarification checks, which reveals inconsistent results with findings from research on the negotiation of meaning in face-to-face interaction. Results suggest that the computer-mediated communication (CMC) environment requires the above mentioned strategies and students are able to adapt to this new context by employing alternative strategies. The majority of negotiations were generated by content and lexical items either to resolve communication problems or to better manage interactions, and very few negotiations occurred in terms of grammar. The findings suggest that text-based synchronous chats can be an effective tool for promoting interactive competence, but their effectiveness on grammatical development is uncertain.

  • The complex sensorless control scheme is not practical for use in the field of home appliance systems because it is not economical. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce a simplified sensorless control scheme that is composed of least calculation to estimate the rotor position. This paper presents the principle of the rotor position estimation with comparison of the estimated flux linkage and reference flux linkage. In order to verify the feasibility of the control scheme, ACSL is used for the simulation and TI DSP TMS320F240 is used for the experiment.

Discourse Socialization in Synchronous Computer-Mediated Communication

  • This paper, based on a qualitative ethnographic study among college of education students, examines the online interactional processes surrounding academic discourse socialization. Data for this paper come from a larger study of an academic classroom community of graduate students and their instructor. In this study, I looked into the ways computer-mediated communication (CMC) contexts factor into graduate students' academic literacy experience in a graduate classroom, therein enculturating them into their new academic community. I focus on cases of nonnative graduate students in a content course in the department of educational psychology at a large southwestern university in the U.S. I explore the agency of the focal participants in terms of the roles they played in the classroom discourse highlighting the dialectical and interactional perspective of academic discourse socialization. This paper focused on the construction of varied participant roles of the focal students. It further examines student reactions and responses to these constructions during synchronous CMC activity.
