OFDM system has a disadvantage of sensitiveness about the effect of the frequency offset caused by the discord of oscillators in transmitter and receiver. The frequency offset can be divided into integral part and decimal part. Although the frequency offset of integral part do not effect orthogonality between subcarriers, it makes the bit error probability become to 0.5 because of circular transient among transmitted data symbols. This paper proposes a new estimation scheme of the frequency offset of integral part by Maximum Likelihood (ML) demanding only one training symbol in multipath fading channel environment. This proposed scheme not only can reduce the number of training symbol but do not increase the complexity and it shows the better performance by simulation.
In this paper, we propose an alternative carrier phase independent timing recovery method for VSB receivers. The Gardner algorithm may not estimate a timing offset in VSB systems when the residual carrier phase offset is contained in the signal. We use the conjugate multiplication of received signals for cancelling out the carrier phase offset. Then Gardner algorithm is employed for extracting the spectral line. The proposed method generates a consistent timing error even in the presence of the carrier phase offset.
In this paper, we proposed the frequency offset compensation algorithm and tracking algorithm which could improve the accumulated phase error for HDR-WPAN system. The proposed frequency offset compensation technique estimated each sample phase error by autocorrelation characteristics of CAZAC sequence, estimated phase error multiple each sample in a symbol, and finally compensated for the frequency offset. After frequency offset compensation using two steps, coarse and fine frequency offset, tracking algorithm have to use to compensate for the accumulated phase error. Because there is no pilot symbol in payload, more phase rotation occurred in received signal constellations due to the accumulated phase error as the payload length increase. Tracking algorithm compensates for a cumulative phase error ${\theta}$ between payload data.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm to improve the precision of initial carrier-frequency offset estimation for multiband-OFDM (MB-OFDM) UWB system which is considering the quantization-noise effect. In the general OFDM system, the two adjacent and repeated preamble symbols are used for the initial carrier-frequency synchronization while the performance of the frequency-offset estimation is bounded by quantization effect generated from analog-to-digital conversion at the receiver. This paper proposes a method in which one-symbol interval between two adjacent preamble symbols for the initial frequency synchronization is extended to multiple-symbol interval between non-adjacent symbols in an extent that phase ambiguity does not occur. In this paper, we also present '6' as optimal multiple symbol interval for the MB-OFDM system with 30 preamble symbols on 3-band hopping and with 4-bit A/D conversion at the receiver. Under the channel environments for the MB-OFDM UWB system, the simulation results show that the proposed estimation algorithm can achieve the initial estimation in offset precision less than 5 ppm.

In this paper we describe the design of symbol timing and carrier synchronization algorithms for burst receiver. The demodulator consists of digital down converter, matched filter and synchronization circuits. For symbol timing recovery we use modified Gardner algorithm. And we use decision directed method for carrier phase recovery. For the sake of performance analysis, we compare simulation results with the board implemented by FPGA which is APEX20KE series chip for Alter. The performance results show it works quite well up to the condition that a frequency offset equal to 0.1% of symbol rate.

In this paper, We stduy addtional consideration and method to treat carrier frquency offset on defined system parameter & requirements in IALA G1139, previous studied consecutively. We studied the method to treat carrier frequency offset by extending length of training symbol and by differential modulation. This study will publish and argue in IALA ENAV22. We will decide a method to treat carrier frequency offset from result of IALA ENAV22.

In this Paper, a concept of virtual smart antenna (SA) is introduced for orthogonal Sequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based cellular systems with a frequency reuse factor equal to 1. The OFDM-based cellular system is robust to multipath channels but has a disadvantage that the intercell interference (ICI) caused by adjacent base stations is large at the edge of a cell. In this paper, after deriving the symbol timing offset estimation scheme for the OFDM signal received from multiple base stations in a quasi-static fading channel, the ICI cancellation method based on virtual smart antenna is proposed using the steering vector formed by the symbol timing offset of the desired signal and interference signals.
This paper has been studied the design of 16-QAM demodulator used in broadband wireless local loop subscriber station. In B-WLL systems, transmission signal experience the inter symbol interference(ISI) due to multipath, frequency offset of RF/IF local oscillator and phase offset. In this paper, we discuss the effective data recovery algorithm for 16-QAM demodulator to compensate the distorted signal from ISI, frequency offset and phase offset.
This paper investigates the multifarious nature of the long-term evolution (LTE) scheme and that of the modified LTE scheme for symbol timing synchronization (STS). This investigation allows us to propose a new replica correlation-based STS scheme to overcome the inherent weaknesses of the other two schemes. The proposed STS signal combines a gold sequence and a half sine wave in the time domain, whereas conventional STS signals specify either binary sequences or complex sequences in the time domain or in the frequency domain. In the proposed scheme, a sufficient correlation property is realized by the gold sequence, and robustness against the frequency offset (FO) is achieved through the sine wave. Compared to the existing LTE-related schemes, the proposed scheme can better achieve immunity to FO and reduction in detector complexity, as well as a low peak-to-average power ratio and a low detection error rate. Performance evaluations through analysis and simulation are provided in the paper to demonstrate these attributes.

This paper proposes a new concept of a signal constellation of the recently introduced half-symbol-rate-carrier phase-shift keying (HSRC-PSK) modulations for bandwidth-efficient high speed data communications. Since the HSRC-PSK modulations contain different symbol energies representing the same bit sequences due to the loss of orthogonality of their HSRC signals, it is very hard to represent the symbol using the conventional signal constellation. To resolve the problem, two different energies are assigned to represent one symbol for the HSRC offset quadrature phase shift keying (OQPSK) modulation. Similarly, the different energies exist to display the different symbol for HSRC minimum shift keying (MSK) modulation. With the proposed signal space representation, HSRC-PSK symbol can easily be shown with a two-dimensional scatter plot which provides helpful information of evaluating HSRC-PSK signal's quality.
