The Relationship of Organizational Culture and Organizational Effectiveness at the General Hospital (종합병원에서 조직문화와 조직유효성과의 관계)

  • Objectives: Organizational culture has beer important in field of organizational behavior research for the past decade. Although there has been a growing interest in the organizational culture and organizational effectiveness, there is few research in health care field. This study was carried out to investigate the relationship of organizational culture and organizational effectiveness at general hospital. Methods: Data was collected by self-administrated questionares. Organizational cultures were measured by using Likert scale. A general hospital in Kyunggi-Do was selected and survey was conducted to 675 workers. Data was analyzed with computer package, PC-SPSS. Results: There were four types of organizational culture in this hospital consensual culture, developmental culture, hierarchical culture, rational culture. Many workers recognized their culture as rational culture and developmental culture. This finding showed that the hospital had both human related and task related climate. There were some differences in recognition of sub-organizational culture by occupational group, but perceived organizational culture was in accordance with sub-organizational culture in general. Multiple regression analysis and multiple logistic regression analysis were conducted to find the relationship of organizational culture and organizational effectiveness. As a result, developmental culture showed a strong relationship with organizational commitment and job-satisfaction. Conclusions: These results showed that types of organizational culture were significantly related to organizational effectiveness and understanding the existing culture is essential to develope their organizational effectiveness.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the organizational culture atpreschool institutes and management styles on job satisfaction levels among teachers. For this study, 256 teachers responded to questionnaires dealing with the following topics: the organization culture and the management styles of administrators at schools they work in and job satisfaction. The results were as follows: First, there was a significant positive correlation between organizational culture and job satisfaction. Second, there was a significant positive correlation between several sub-factors of job satisfaction and management styles. Third, in multiple regression analysis of variables, innovativeness in the organizational culturehad the most significant influence on job satisfaction. Also sub-factors of organizational culture and management styles of administrators that influenced teachers'job satisfaction ratings included collegiality, supervisory support, physical settings, reward systemsand task-centered management styles.

  • The research was conducted on 238 marine sports participants by clarifying the relationship among self-efficacy, sociality, and organization culture, to eliminate the organizational(home, school, club, workplace, etc.) culture maladjustment phenomenon which is caused by personal stress, the lack of physical activity, and the lack of sociality due to the rapid change of modern society and enhance sociality, adjustment to society and the lack of creativity due to the rigid hierarchy and contribute to organization culture through marine sports among sports which we enjoy with nature. Firstly, according to general self-efficacy, and social characteristics of the organizational culture and the gender differences in higher than women in all sub-variables of the sub-factors of self-efficacy and self-regulation, sociability, organizational culture, sub-culture and develop cultural factors agreed man showed that in the sub-factors of organization culture showed that the development of high culture and hierarchical culture in the age of 20s. Secondly, in terms of the effect of self-efficacy of marine sports participants on sociality, it is found that self-regulation and level of difficulty positively influence on the culture of agreement, the culture of development and the culture of hierarchy. Lastly, in terms of the effect of self-efficacy of marine sports participants on organizational culture, it is shown that self-regulation has positive influence on the culture of agreement, the culture of development and the culture of hierarchy.

A Study on Relations between Dental Technicians' Organizational Culture and Job Satisfaction (치과기공사의 조직문화와 직무만족도간의 관계연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate relations between the organizational culture and job satisfaction of ordinary dental technicians who are serving at dental laboratories. Findings of the study are summarized as follows. Ordinary dental technicians' job satisfaction as a whole was measured 3.40 in average score. In detail, those dental technicians were highest in satisfaction about their work, followed by their work conditions, organizational relations and occupation itself in order, but showed some dissatisfaction in terms of their self-realization. Regarding relations between the organizational culture and job satisfaction of ordinary dental technicians, the former was found significantly affecting the latter. Those dental technicians' job satisfaction was being most positively influenced by innovation-orientation as one of their organizational culture styles, followed by task-orientation. In regard to relations between sub-areas of the satisfaction and styles of the culture, ordinary dental technicians' organizational relations were being significantly, positively affected by such styles of their organizational culture as relation-orientation and task-orientation. Those technicians' occupational satisfaction, self-realization and work conditions were being strongly influenced by one of their organizational culture styles, that is, innovation-orientation. Originary dental technicians' work satisfaction was not being significantly affected by any of the organizational culture styles. The more relation- or task-orienting ordinary dental technicians were in organizational culture, the stronger their organizational relations were. The more innovation-orienting ordinary dental technicians were in organizational culture, the more those dental technicians' satisfaction regarding their occupation, self-realization and work conditions is likely to positively change. These findings indicate that ordinary dental technicians are even more orienting both relation and task in organizational culture, while being afraid of innovation and that their organizational culture as a whole is somewhat strict hierarchically.

The Effect of Organizational Culture of Large Construction Companies on Emotional Commitment through Organizational Trust (건설대기업의 조직문화가 정서적 몰입에 미치는 영향 : 조직신뢰의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to research the impact of the organizational culture of large construction companies on emotional commitment through organizational trust targeting the headquarters and field workers of domestics. Applied the significance sampling method, and the number of samples used in the final analysis was 201, and statistical analysis used the SPSS 20.0 program for the input data processing. As a result of the analysis, first, in the group of the sub-factors of organizational culture recognized by members of large construction companies, rational culture, development culture, and consensus culture had a significant positive (+) effect on emotional commitment, but hierarchical culture was not significant. Second, development culture, consensus culture, and hierarchical culture were found a significant positive (+) effect on organizational trust, but rational culture was not found to be significant. Third, organizational trust was found a significant positive (+) effect on emotional commitment. Fourth, organizational trust has been shown to mediate the relationship between organizational culture and emotional commitment. This suggests that organizational culture that aiming flexibility & change value rather than stability & control value for organizational members can have a positive effect on emotional commitment.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of self-leadership of Korean aircraft mechanics on organizational effectiveness and to investigate whether safety culture has mediating effect. The theory of leadership, which has emerged since the 1940s, has been an important and key research issue in the social sciences for the last decade and has evolved as a brand-new theory through the theory of characteristics, the theory of behavior, and the theory of situation. The new leadership theory has been extended to charismatic leadership, transformative leadership, empowerment leadership, super leadership, and self-leadership of organizational members as a new flow leadership. On the other hand, there was a precedent study on the relationship between leadership and safety culture, and this study started with interest in the relationship between self-leadership, safety culture and organizational effectiveness. As a result, safety culture has been proved to play an moderating variable in the relationship between self-leadership of Korean aircraft mechanics and organizational effectiveness. Especially, among the sub-factors of the self-leadership, self-goal setting, self-reward, and natural reward have been shown to affect organizational effectiveness in combination with the sub-factors of the safety culture, learning culture and flexible culture.

Perceived Organizational Culture and Psychological Empowerment of Employees in Casino Companies (카지노 종사자의 조직문화 인식과 심리적 임파워먼트)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to verify a role of organizational culture as antecedents to influence psychological empowerment of organizational members, focusing on service workers of casino companies. Therefore, this study sought to examine the question of each clan, adhocracy, market, and hierarchy culture that the workers perceive to influence their psychological empowerment. Thus, the current study examined the relationship between organizational culture and the psychological empowerment by empirical analysis. Research design, data, and methodology - This study chose four domestic casino companies that are run only for foreigners. Using an offline survey, it analyzed the questionnaire data of the 249 surveys collected from employees working in the sales and service sectors. Independent variables were four types of organizational culture: clan, adhocracy, market, and hierarchy. Dependent variables were four subcategories of psychological empowerment: meaning, competence, self-determination, and impact. As research methods, the study applied descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis, using SPSS 21.0 statistical program. Results - Among the organizational culture types, the clan and adhocracy cultures, which emphasize flexibility and autonomy, were relatively more important for the psychological empowerment of workers than the hierarchy and market cultures. Clan culture was the most important factor in terms of meaning and competence, and adhocracy culture was the most important factor in self-determination and impact. However, the hierarchy and market cultures that pursue control and stability were also cultural types that positively affected psychological empowerment of the workers. Hierarchy culture showed positive effects on meaning, competence, and impact except self-determination, and market culture had positive effect only on competency. Conclusions - The study found that organizational culture is an important predictor of psychological empowerment of the employees in casino companies and that important organizational culture types may be different for each sub-factor of psychological empowerment. It suggests that casino companies have to try to recognize and secure diverse organizational culture in order to activate psychological empowerment of their employees because they can provide quality service for customers. Therefore, it is necessary to create a harmonious and balanced culture between promoting flexible and autonomous organizational atmosphere, and stably controlling and operating the organization.

A Study on the Influence of the Organizational Culture of Korean Network Marketing Companies on Customer Orientation and Service Orientation (한국형 네트워크 마케팅 기업의 조직문화가 고객 지향성과 서비스지향성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to confirm the influence of the types of organizational culture perceived by members of Korean network companies on customer orientation and service orientation. Therefore, the results of the valid survey for the final 165 among the results of 204 applicants for about two weeks from September 7th to 25th, 2020 using the SSP 24.0 and AMOS 24.0 statistical package programs showed the following results. First, as a result of the analysis of the impact of organizational culture on customer orientation, the sub-factors of the organizational culture, such as relationship-oriented culture, innovation-oriented culture, hierarchical-oriented culture, and task-oriented culture types, all had a positive (+) effect on customer-oriented. It was analyzed as crazy. In other words, it can be seen that the organizational culture has a statistically significant impact on customer orientation in that it gives positive meaning through a comprehensive operation rather than a single substructure. Second, as a result of analyzing the effect of organizational culture on service orientation, organizational culture showed positive (+) influence on service orientation. In other words, it was analyzed that relational orientation, innovation orientation, hierarchical orientation, and task orientation, which are sub-constituent factors of organizational culture, act as positive factors for service orientation.

Clinical Nurses' Experience of Positive Organizational Culture (임상간호사가 경험한 긍정적인 간호조직문화)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to explore clinical nurses' experience of positive organizational culture in order to provide data for effective strategies of acquisition and retention of competent nurses. Methods: In this qualitative study, interviews with four focus groups of four to six nurses, 19 in total, were held. Compositional factors in groups included clinical experience, age, work place, and position. Interviews proceeded until data were saturated. Results: Fifteen sub-themes, categorized into six themes, emerged. Positive organizational culture themes included "Helping nurses to be organization members", "Allowing nurses to communicate with one another", "Helping nurses take an initiative to lead organization", "Having competent leader take charge of organization", "Enabling nurses to achieve organizational changes", and "Leading nurses to accomplish organizational performance." Conclusion: Results indicate that positive organizational culture is related to increases in occupational satisfaction and decreases in turnover through supportive organizational culture which makes it possible to reinvest expenses required for training new members to promoting quality growth in the organization and the prestige of professional nurses. In order to improve occupational satisfaction and sustained growth in nurses, it is necessary to provide nurses with positive work environments and require members to make active efforts leading to strategic changes.

  • Investigations into family-friendly company culture have been carried out for various companies and conglomerates. But there has never been such investigation for police organization, so this investigation is intended to see the effect on organizational commitment and job performance of the organization culture that makes use of family-friendly program for the police organization. To this end, how the internal factors of family-friendly organization culture affects organization commitment and job performance is empirically analyzed with structural equation modeling. And it is found that family-friendly program has significant effect on organizational life and welfare, and the welfare, in return, is found to have significant effect on job performance.
