  • Background: This study attempted to apply resin infiltrant (RI) as a method to maintain the effect of tooth bleaching treatment and compared it with fluoride varnish (FV) or artificial saliva to evaluate the effect. Methods: Sixty healthy lozenge specimens were classified into five groups. Group 1 was the negative control group, and discoloration was induced after artificial saliva treatment of the tooth specimen (G1S+C). Group 2 was a positive control group, in which pigmentation was induced after bleaching treatment and artificial saliva treatment (G2 B+S+C). Coloration was induced in group 3 (experimental group 1) after bleaching treatment and artificial saliva treatment, followed by application of fluorine varnish (G3B+FV+S+C). Coloration was induced in Group 4 (experimental group 2) after applying RI after bleaching treatment and artificial saliva treatment (G4B+RI+S+C). Pigmentation was induced in group 5 (experimental group 3) after bleaching treatment and artificial saliva treatment, followed by acid treatment (etching) and treatment with RI (G5B+E+RI+S+C). Coffee and wine were used to induce discoloration. The lightness value (L*) of the CIE L*a*b* color system was obtained by image analysis. Kruskal-Wallis H analysis was performed for the mean difference in L* values by group. Results: When coloration was induced with coffee, there was no significant difference in L* value between artificial saliva (G2 B+S+C), FV (G3B+FV+S+C), and RI (G4B+RI+S+C, G5B+E+RI+S+C) groups. There was no significant difference in L* values between the artificial saliva (G2 B+S+C), FV (G3B+FV+S+C), and RI (G4B+RI+S+C, G5B+E+RI+S+C) groups, even in the case of wine induced coloration. Conclusion: It was confirmed that artificial saliva or RI treatment had similar effects to the FV previously used to maintain the effect of tooth bleaching treatment.

  • Let G = (V, E) be a graph. Consider the group S3. Let g : V (G) → S3 be a function. For each edge xy assign the label 1 if ${\lceil}{\frac{o(g(x))+o(g(y))}{2}}{\rceil}$ is odd or 0 otherwise. g is a group S3 mean cordial labeling if |vg(i) - vg(j)| ≤ 1 and |eg(0) - eg(1)| ≤ 1, where vg(i) and eg(y)denote the number of vertices labeled with an element i and number of edges labeled with y (y = 0, 1). The graph G with group S3 mean cordial labeling is called group S3 mean cordial graph. In this paper, we discuss group S3 mean cordial labeling for star related graphs.

  • Let G = (V (G), E(G)) be a graph and let g : V (G) → S3 be a function. For each edge xy assign the label r where r is the remainder when o(g(x)) is divided by o(g(y)) or o(g(y)) is divided by o(g(x)) according as o(g(x)) ≥ o(g(y)) or o(g(y)) ≥ o(g(x)). The function g is called a group S3 cordial remainder labeling of G if |vg(i)-vg(j)| ≤ 1 and |eg(1)-eg(0)| ≤ 1, where vg(j) denotes the number of vertices labeled with j and eg(i) denotes the number of edges labeled with i (i = 0, 1). A graph G which admits a group S3 cordial remainder labeling is called a group S3 cordial remainder graph. In this paper, we prove that subdivision of graphs admit a group S3 cordial remainder labeling.

  • Hydrogen gas (H2) which is odorless, colorless is attracting attention as a renewable energy source in varions applications but its leakage can lead to disastrous disasters, such as inflammable, explosive, and narcotic disasters at high concentrations. Therefore, it is necessary to develop H2 gas sensor with high performance. In this paper, we confirmed that H2 gas detection ability of SnO2 based H2 gas sensor along with thermal treatment effect of SnO2. Proposed SnO2 based H2 gas sensor is fabricated by MEMS technologies such as photolithgraphy, sputtering and lift-off process, etc. Deposited SnO2 thin films are thermally treated in various thermal treatement temperature in range of 500-900 ℃ and their H2 gas detection ability is estimatied by measuring output current of H2 gas sensor. Based on experimental results, fabricated H2 gas sensor with SnO2 thin film which is thermally treated at 700 ℃ has a superior H2 gas detection ability, and it can be expected to utilize at the practical applications.

  • Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of calcium (Ca) levels in weanling pigs (Landrace × Yorkshire × Duroc). In experiment 1, one hundred and eighty weanling pigs were randomly allotted to one of the three treatments. The treatments were low (Ca 0.60% in phase 1 and 0.50% in phase 2), standard (Ca 0.72% in phase 1 and 0.66% in phase 2), and high (Ca 0.84% in phase 1 and 0.72% in phase 2). In experiment 2, hundred and forty weanling pigs were randomly assigned to one of four treatments differing in Ca levels (high and low) and sources (CaCl2 and CaCO3) in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. There were 10 pigs per replicate in both experiments, with 6 replicates in each treatment, and they were conducted in two phases (phase 1, days 0-14; phase 2, days 15-28). In experiment 1, body weight (BW), average daily gain (ADG), and growth to feed ratio (G/F) increased as the Ca level decreased (p < 0.05). P digestibility was higher in the low-Ca diet group than in the high-Ca diet group (p <0.05). In experiment 2, the final BW, ADG, and G/F increased in the CaCl2 diet group compared with the case in the CaCO3 diet group (p < 0.05). The digestibility of crude protein (CP), Ca, and P was higher in the CaCl2 diet group than in the CaCO3 diet group (p < 0.05). Cl- levels were higher in the CaCl2 diet group than in the CaCO3 diet group (p < 0.05). The bicarbonate (HCO3-), base excess (BE), and electrolyte balance (EB) levels were lower in the CaCl2 diet group than in the CaCO3 diet group (p < 0.05). Hematocrit increased as the Ca level decreased (p < 0.05). The HCO3- interacted with the Ca sources and thus, affected the Ca levels (p < 0.05). Bone ash, Ca, and P were downregulated in the low-Ca diet group compared with the case in the high-Ca diet group. Overall, the low dietary Ca supplementation led to greater growth performance. Furthermore, CaCl2 appeared to be a better Ca source than CaCO3 because of the greater digestibility of CP, Ca, and P, and improved EB.

  • In this study, a PbS quantum dots (QDs)-based H2 gas sensor with a Pd electrode was proposed. QDs have a size of several nanometers, and they can exhibit a high surface area when forming a thin film. In particular, the NH2 present in the ligand of PbS QDs and H2 gas are combined to form NH3+, subsequently the electrical characteristics of the QDs change. In addition to the resistance change owing to the reaction between Pd and H2 gas, the resistance change owing to the reaction between the NH2 of PbS QDs and H2 gas increases the current signal at the sensor output, which can produce a high output signal for the same concentration of H2 gas. Using the XRD and absorbance properties, the synthesis and particle size of the synthesized PbS QDs were analyzed. Using PbS QDs, the sensitivity was significantly improved by 44%. In addition, the proposed H2 gas sensor has high selectivity because it has low reactivity with heterogeneous gases such as C2H2, CO2, and CH4.

  • The current study investigated how Saccharomyces cerevisiae ameliorates the adverse effects of aflatoxin on in vitro rumen fermentation. In this study, five groups (T1: Control [basal feed]; T2: T1 + 300 ppb aflatoxin B1 [AFB1] and T3, T4, and T5: T2 with 0.05, 0.1, and 0.2% of S. cerevisiae, respectively) were prepared and incubated in vitro. The results revealed that truly degradable dry matter (TDDM), gas production (GP), microbial biomass production (MBP), truly degradable organic matter (TDOM), partitioning factor (PF), total volatile fatty acids (TVFA), acetate (A), propionate (P) and butyrate (B) values in the control group (T1) were higher (p < 0.05) than those of the AFB1 fed group (T2). The A : P ratio in the control group (T1) was reduced (p < 0.05) when compared to that of the T2 group. The TDDM, TDOM, GP, TVFA, A, P, and B values of T3, T4, and T5 improved with the increasing levels of S. cerevisiae; however, the values of group T5 were lower (p < 0.05) than that of the control. The values of MBP, A : P ratio and PF in group T5 were statistically similar to that of the control. It was concluded that the inclusion of S. cerevisiae (0.05 to 0.20%) to the AFB1 (300 ppb) contaminated feed partially to completely ameliorated the adverse effects of AFB1 on the in vitro rumen fermentation parameters.

  • Let LK denote the hypothetical automorphic Langlands group of a number field K. In our recent study, we briefly introduced a certain unconditional non-commutative topological group ${\mathfrak{W}}{\mathfrak{A}}{\frac{\varphi}{K}}$, called the Weil-Arthur idèle group of K, which, assuming the existence of LK, comes equipped with a natural topological group homomorphism $NR{\frac{\varphi}{K}^{Langlands}}$ : ${\mathfrak{W}}{\mathfrak{A}}{\frac{\varphi}{K}}$ → LK that we called the "Langlands form" of the global nonabelian norm-residue symbol of K. In this work, we present a detailed construction of ${\mathfrak{W}}{\mathfrak{A}}{\frac{\varphi}{K}}$ and $NR{\frac{\varphi}{K}^{Langlands}}$ : ${\mathfrak{W}}{\mathfrak{A}}{\frac{\varphi}{K}}$ → LK, and discuss their basic properties.

  • This study aimed to assess the effects of exogenous hydrogen sulfide (H2S) on abdominal aorta coarctation (AAC) induced myocardial fibrosis (MF) and autophagy in rats. Forty-four Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group, AAC group, AAC + H2S group, and H2S control group. After a model of rats with AAC was built surgically, AAC + H2S group and H2S group were injected intraperitoneally with H2S (100 µmol/kg) daily. The rats in the control group and the AAC group were injected with the same amount of PBS. We observed that H2S can improve left ventricular function and the deposition of myocardial collagen fibers, inhibit pyroptosis, down-regulate the expression of P-eif2α in myocardial tissue, and inhibit cell autophagy by activating the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT1 signaling pathway (p < 0.05). In addition, angiotensin II (1 µM) H9c2 cardiomyocytes were injured in vitro experiments, and it was also observed that pyroptosis was inhibited after H2S (400 µmol/kg) intervention, the expression of P-eif2α in cardiomyocytes was significantly down-regulated, and the PI3K/AKT1 signaling pathway was activated at the same time. Therefore, increasing the expression of P-eif2α reverses the activation of the PI3K/AKT1 signaling pathway by H2S. In conclusion, these findings suggest that exogenous H2S can ameliorate MF in rats with AAC by inhibiting pyroptosis, and the mechanism may be associated with inhibiting the phosphorylation of eif2α and activating the PI3K/AKT1 signaling pathway to inhibit excessive cell autophagy.

  • [Purpose] The study aimed to determine the effects of bone-specific physical activity on body composition, bone mineral density (BMD), and health-related physical fitness in middle-aged women. [Methods] One hundred eighty-six middle-aged women aged 31-49 years participated in this study. The subjects were divided into tertile groups according to the level of physical activity (low-score group, n=62; middle-score group, n=62; high-score group, n=62). Bone-specific physical activity participation was assessed using the bone-specific physical activity questionnaire. Body composition and BMD were measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Health-related physical fitness test included isometric muscle strength (grip strength), muscular endurance (sit-ups), flexibility (sit and reach), and cardiorespiratory fitness (maximal oxygen uptake [VO2max]). [Results] The high-score group had a significantly higher fat-free mass (p=.045, partial eta-squared value[ηp2]=.033) than the middle- and low-score groups, whereas the high-score group had significantly lower percent body fat (p=.005, ηp2=.056) than the other two groups. Whole-body BMD (p=.034, ηp2=.036) and lumbar BMD (p=.003, ηp2=.060) were significantly higher in the high-score group than in the low-score group. The high-score group performed significantly better for grip strength (p=.0001, ηp2=.101), sit-ups (p=.0001, ηp2=.108), and VO2max (p=.0001, ηp2=.092) than the other two groups. [Conclusion] The present study suggests that bone-specific physical activity could be useful in improving body composition, BMD, and health-related physical fitness in middle-aged women, significantly enhancing their BMD and health conditions.
