  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships which may exist between interpersonal relationships, depression, anxiety, and self-acceptance. This study also examines whether self-acceptance has any moderating effects on the relationships between interpersonal relationships, depression, and anxiety. The subjects of this study consisted of 400 high school students and the study focused on reporting their levels of interpersonal relationships, depression, anxiety, and self acceptance. The results indicate that depression and anxiety are negatively related to interpersonal relationships and self-acceptance. Interpersonal relationships are positively related to self acceptance. In other words, the more negative the interpersonal relationships, the greater the levels of depression and anxiety. The results also indicate that self-acceptance functions as a protective factor for high school students who have problems with depression and anxiety in their interpersonal relationships.

  • This study uncovered ambiguity and inconsistency of the semantic relationships of the existing thesaurus by analyzing the concept relationships of AGROVOC and proposed the concept relationships of ontology in partially overcoming these limitations. By the results of analyzing the concept relationships, the study proposed conceptual model as most important part of conecept relationships of ontology and semantically developed concept relationship types. These relationships partially can perform inferences and must be useful for information knowledge system based on more exact semantic relationships. Also the study found out new relationship types and they will be useful for extension of the concept relationships of existing thesaurus. And these relationship types showed that they were useful for the existing thesaurus as Legal Thesaurus.

  • This study examined the effects of maternal parenting behavior, relationships with friends, and relationships with teachers on the subjective well-being of children in late childhood. A total of 299 fifth and sixth grade students at elementary school (141 boys and 158 girls) participated in this study. The subjects completed questionnaires on maternal parenting behavior, relationships with friends, relationships with teachers, and their subjective well-being. The data were analyzed by means of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results are as follows. First, maternal parenting behavior was found to have a direct effect on children's subjective well-being. Second, maternal parenting behavior was seen to have an indirect effect on children's subjective well-being through their relationships with friends. Third, maternal parenting behavior was found to have an indirect effect on children's subjective well-being through their relationships with their teachers. The findings from this study suggest that relationships factors established in both family and school need to be considered together in order to explain children's subjective well-being. In addition, this study emphasizes the relative importance of maternal parenting behavior in improving the subjective well-being of school-aged children, as compared to the relationships with both their friends and their teachers at school.

This study investigated the connection between preschool teachers' personality traits and their relationships at workplace. The participants were two hundred and eighty two teachers in 55 preschools and asked to answer the survey questionnaires. Two research questions were investigated; (1) are there correlations between preschool teachers' personality traits and their relationships at workplace? (2) do preschool teachers' personality traits affect their relationships at workplace? The results showed that preschool teachers' personality traits were correlated with their relationships at workplace; neuroticism showed a negative correlation while the other four (extraversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness) showed positive correlations with relationships at workplace. In addition, preschool teachers' personality traits had effects on their relationships at workplace in overall. Especially, neuroticism, agreeableness, and conscientiousness were revealed as significantly influencing personality traits on preschool teachers' relationships at workplace.

  • This study investigated the relationships between parental marital conflict, attachment to parents and peer relationships. The mediating role of attachment to parents was also explored in the relationship between parental marital conflict and peer relationships. Two hundred eighty four 8th graders participated in this study. The participants answered questionnaires regarding parental marital conflict, attachment to parents, qualify of their friendship, and attachment to peers. The main results of the study are as follows: First, adolescents who perceived a higher level of parental marital conflict reported less positive feelings and more negative feelings toward their friends. They also reported lower peer attachment, and tended to perceive their friendship functions negative. Second, adolescents who showed stronger attachment to their parents reported more positive feelings and less negative feelings toward their friends. They reported higher peer attachment, and perceived friendship functions positively. Third, adolescents who perceived a higher level of parental marital conflict showed weaker attachment to their parents. Finally, attachment to fathers and mothers mediated the association between parental marital conflict and peer relationships. In other words, parental marital conflict had an indirect effect on peer relationships. The results suggest that attachment to fathers and mothers that resulted from parental marital conflict played an important role in determining peer relationships among adolescents, rather than the existence of the parental marital conflict itself.

  • Both knowledge management and BSC practices are in its inception in the tourism field, and the study explores the relationships between knowledge and BSC perspectives using correlations and path analysis. The purpose of this study was to explore the casual relationships among tourist destination knowledge and BSC performance perspectives. The study model added knowledge perspectives to the usual BSC model (with customer, growth and learning, internal process, and financial perspectives), in addition to the modification of the financial perspectives to economic, socio-cultual and physical impact. The study found out that knowledge supports learning and growth perspectives greatly, and less extent, internal processes and customer perspectives. Learning and growth affects internal processes and customer perspectives. Internal process supports customer perspectives. Both customer and, less extent, internal process have impact on the final results. The final analysis results were different by destination type. The study concludes with recommendations for further studies including rational BSC model for tourist destinations and relationships between BSC performance indicators.

  • Indexes, especially subject indexes, are major tools for information retrieval. To enhance the retrieval effectiveness of subject indexes, the semantic and syntactic relationships of indexing languages are very important elements. This paper examines the afore-mentioned relationships, based on purely the syntax and semantics of Korean language. The outlines of this study are as follows: 1. The characteristics and usages of controlled vocabularies, particularly subject headings lists and thesaury, are reviewed. 2. The semantic relationships, such as equivalence, hierarchical and associative relationships, are defined, and their categories are investigated in detail. Accordingly, the usages of 'See' and 'See also' references are suggested circumstantially. 3. The syntactic relationships are also examined. Particularly, for the syntactic relationships of multiword indexing terms, two kinds of subject entry formats are compared. Since it is more rational for subject headings organized by the principle of context-dependency, the two-fine entry format is recommended for subject indexes. 4. Computerized production techniques of 'See' and 'See also' reference for the semantic relationships of indexing terms are presented. 5. Computerized production techniques of subject indexes representing the syntactic relationships of indexing terms are also presented.
