  • The purpose of this study was to measure the dose distribution from the moving phantom for the respiratory motion. The phantom for TLD measurement was designed and built for this study based on the multiple plates for placing TLD and film. The TLDs may be inserted at 3 mm intervals in each TLD plate. For the measurements, TLD plate was inserted into the phantom at 1.5 cm ($d_{max}$) depth, and phantom was allowed to move in SI directions in the range of 1 to 2 cm with 0.5 cm interval for 6 MV X-ray beams. Penumbra and FWHM were measured at both moving state and compared stationary. It was found that penumbra increased 0.71 cm at stationary and 2.10 cm at moving state in 2 cm movement, and that FWHM are 7.52 cm for stationary state and 7.02 cm for moving state (2 cm movement). In this study, film was used to compared with TLD results of measurements and simitar results were observed. Therefore, it is expected that TLD moving phantom may be useful for the treatment of tumors that move due to the respiratory motion.

  • The purpose of the present study is to investigate the microstructural effect on the R-curve behavior in three aluminas with different grain size distributions by analyzing the bridging stress distribution. The crack opening displacement (COD) according to the distance behind the stationary crack tip was measured using an in situ SEM fracture method. The measured COD values in the fine-grained alumina agreed well with Wiederhorn's sollution while they deviated from Wiederhorn's solution in the two coarse-grained aluminas because of the increase of the crack closure due to the grain interface bridging in the crack wake. A numerical fitting procedure was conducted by the introduction of the power-law relation and the current theoretical model together with the measured COD's in order to obtain the bridging stress distribution. The results indicated that the bridging stress function and the R-curve computed by the current model were consistent with those computed by the power-law relation providing a reliable evidence for the bridging stress analysis of the current model. The strain-softening exponent in the power-law relation n, was calculated to be in the range from 2 to 3 and was closely related to the grain size distribution. Thus it was concluded from the current theoretical model that the grain size distribution affected greatly the bridging stress distribution thereby resulting in the quantitative analysis of microfracture of polycrystalline aluminas through correlating the local-fracture-cont-rolling microstructure.

  • We consider an M/G/1 feedback retrial queue with Bernoulli schedule in which after being served each customer either joins the retrial group again or departs the system permanently. Using the supplementary variable method, we obtain the joint generating function of the numbers of customers in two groups.

  • Under a continuous-review inventory system, the inventory position process was proved to be asymptotically independent of the general renewal demand processes, when the two processes form an asymptotic unimodel joint distribution. The analytical technique implemented through this work seems to be more like general, and so the periodic-review system can be similarly investigated. In conclusion, the results may be evaluated to direct to the analytical analyses of some inventory systems which have been treated under some restrictions on demand processes.

  • We consider the threshold autoregressive moving average(TARMA) process and find a sufficient condition for strict stationarity of the proces. Given region for stationarity of TARMA(p,q) model is the same as that of TAR(p) model given by Chan and Tong(1985), which shows that the moving average part of TARMA(p,q) process does not affect the stationarity of the process. We find also a sufficient condition for the existence of kth moments(k$\geq$1) of the process with respect to the stationary distribution.

  • Lagged regressor models with general stationary errors independent of the regressors are considered. The regressor process is unstable having characteristic roots on the unit circle. If the order of the lag matches the number of roots on the unit circle, the ordinary least squares estimator (OLSE) is asymptotically efficient in that it has the same limiting distribution as the generalized least squares estimator (GLSE) under the same normalization. This result extends the well-known result of Grenander and Rosenblatt (1957) for asymptotic efficiency of the OLSE in deterministic polynomial and/or trigonometric regressor models to a class of models with stochastic regressors.

  • The stationarity is one of the most important properties of a time series. We propose robust sign tests for seasonal autoregressive processes to determine whether or not a time series is stationary. The proposed tests are robust to the outliers and the heteroscedastic errors, and they have an exact binomial null distribution regardless of the period of seasonality and types of median adjustments. A Monte-Carlo simulation shows that the sign test is locally more powerful than the tests based on ordinary least squares estimator (OLSE) for heavy-tailed and/or heteroscedastic error distributions.

  • The assumption that the spatiotemporal distribution of rainfall has stationarity for a long period is not realistic due to frequent unusual weather phenomena. Based on the understanding of the situation, this paper investigates the effects of it to hydraulic structures especially dams and deals measures for it.

  • In M/G/1 retrial queueing system with two types of customers and feedback, we derived the joint generating function of the number of customers in two groups by using the supplementary variable method. It is shown that our results are consistent with those already known in the literature when ${\delta}_k\;=\;0(k\;=\;1,\;2),\;{\lambda}_1\;=\;0\;or\;{\lambda}_2\;=\;0$.

  • A model for a system whose deteriorating rate depends on the state is introduced. A repairman arrives according to Poisson process and increases the state of the system by the random amount if the state is below a threshold. If the system fails at arrival of the repairman it is assumed that the system is replaced by new one. The stationary distribution function of the state of the system and the expected life length of the system are deduced.
