  • The characteristics of heat transfer in a two-dimensional channel obstructed by a square rod is investigated by a turbulence model. The computation is made for the six cases of different rod positions between channel walls. To analyze the wall heat transfer, the heat flux of channel walls is set as a constant value and the $k-{\epsilon}-f_{\mu}$ model is employed. Downstream the square rod, the flow recirculation region appear and they are varied by the rod position. The enhancement of the turbulent heat transfer to the wall is induced by the flow instability using a square rod. The averaged heat transfer rate is maximized at a specific rod position. Finally, the effects of square rod on unsteady flows are scrutinized with the frequency analysis.

  • This letter considers the channel estimation for two-way relay MIMO OFDM systems. A least square (LS) channel estimation algorithm under block-based training is proposed. The mean square error (MSE) of the LS channel estimate is computed, and the optimal training sequences with respect to this MSE are derived. Some numerical examples are presented to evaluate the performance of the proposed channel estimation method.

  • In this paper, the new channel estimation was proposed that have the low complexity and high performance using Fuzzy inference method uses recently from various field for estimation about uncertainty in channel estimation of OFDM. Proposed method is channel estimation performance improve, calculation and interpolation for statistics character of channel using the pilot before LS channel estimation by Fuzzy inference method. Simulation result in QPSK proposed channel estimation method shows the enhancement of 5.5dB compared to the LS channel estimation and the deterioration of 1.3dB compared to the MMSE channel estimation in mean square error point $10^{-3}$. symbol error rate shows similarity performance the MMSE $10^{-1.96}$, proposed channel estimation $10^{-1.93}$ and enhancement of $10^{-0.35}$ compared to the LS channel estimation in signal to noise ratio point 20dB.

  • In this paper, we propose a pilot based channel estimation technique in two-way relay networks. We propose to transmit a pilot symbol together with the data symbol during transmission. In absence of Channel State Information (CSI), destination uses the pilot symbol to estimate the channel. In this system, the relay amplifies the pilot and the data symbol then forward them to the destination using amplify and forward (AF) protocol. We assume that the relay gain is fixed, so the relay does not need to estimate the channel, the destination only estimate the channel. We apply well-known Least-square (LS) and minimum mean-square error (MMSE) channel estimation methods to estimate the channel.

  • Based on some flaws occurred for implementing a public key cryptosystem in the embedded security device, many side-channel attacks to extract the secret private key have been tried. In spite of the fact that the cryptographic exponentiation is basically composed of a sequence of multiplications and squarings, a new Square Always exponentiation algorithm was recently presented as a countermeasure against side-channel attacks based on trading multiplications for squarings. In this paper, we propose Known Power Collision Analysis and modified Doubling attacks to break the Right-to-Left Square Always exponentiation algorithm which is known resistant to the existing side-channel attacks. And we also present a Collision-based Combined Attack which is a combinational method of fault attack and power collision analysis. Furthermore, we verify that the Square Always algorithm is vulnerable to the proposed side-channel attacks using computer simulation.

  • Underwater communication (UWC) is widely used in coastal surveillance and early warning systems. Precise channel estimation is vital for efficient and reliable UWC. The sparse direct-adaptive filtering algorithms have become popular in UWC. Herein, we present an improved adaptive convex-combination method for the identification of sparse structures using a reweighted normalized leastmean-square (RNLMS) algorithm. Moreover, to make RNLMS algorithm independent of the reweighted l1-norm parameter, a modified sparsity-aware adaptive zero-attracting RNLMS (AZA-RNLMS) algorithm is introduced to ensure accurate modeling. In addition, we present a quantitative analysis of this algorithm to evaluate the convergence speed and accuracy. Furthermore, we derive an excess mean-square-error expression that proves that the AZA-RNLMS algorithm performs better for the harsh underwater channel. The measured data from the experimental channel of SPACE08 is used for simulation, and results are presented to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm. The simulation results confirm that the proposed algorithm for underwater channel estimation performs better than the earlier schemes.

  • The local heat transfer and pressure drop of developed turbulent flows in the smooth convergent/divergent channels with rectangular and square cross-sectional areas along the axial distance have been investigated experimentally. The measurement was conducted within the range of Reynolds numbers from 15,000 to 89,000. The channel hydraulic diameter ratios of 0.67 and 1.49 in the rectangular channel with 2 inclined walls and the ratios 0.75 and 1.33 in the square channel with 4 inclined walls are considered. The comparison showed that among the four channels the square divergent channel has the highest thermal performance at the identical mass flow rate, at the identical pumping power, and at the static pressure drop.

  • The pilot assisted channel frequency response (CFR) estimation schemes for an OFDM-based system with virtual subcarriers are analyzed under the assumption that pilot symbols are located according to a comb-type pattern in the OFDM block. In particular, as the minimum mean square error (MMSE) based scheme aiming to directly predict the channel impulse response and the MMSE based scheme aiming to suppress the leakage have not been clearly compared, by proving that the mean square errors (MSEs) of the latter scheme is always larger than that of the former scheme, this paper shows that the former scheme is superior to the latter scheme. Moreover, the impact of the number of pilots on the performances of the MMSE and least-square based channel estimation schemes are investigated. The performance analyses of the presented schemes are confirmed by computer simulation.

  • Surface modifications like rib-roughening and displaced insert devices like the twisted tape are commonly used in applications such as compact heat exchangers and cooling systems. In this paper, regionally averaged heat transfer distributions in square channels with twisted tape inserts and with twisted tape inserts plus interrupted ribs are respectively investigated. The square ribs are arranged to follow the trace of the twisted tape and along the flow direction defined as axial interrupted ribs. Each wall of the square channel is composed of isolated aluminum sections. Regionally averaged Nusselt number and channel averaged Nusselt number in turbulent air flows are presented for Reynold numbers from 8,900 to 29,000. We have obtained the following conclusions from the experimental study: 1) The local Nusselt number in the two-sided heated case is higher than that in the four-sided heated condition. 2) In the 4 heating wall channel with twisted tape inserts, Nusselt number based on bottom wall temperature is enhanced by 1.2 - 1.6 times if adding the axial interrupted ribs on the bottom wall only. 3) The twisted tape with interrupted ribs under the two-sided heating condition produces the highest heat transfer coefficient.
