It is well known that GPS technique can be used for high accuracy leveling positioning if a precise geoid model is available to use at a surveying point. In this study, KOGD2003 geoid model was developed in and around Korean peninsula and this geoid model could be achieved by combining GPS/leveling data with the formerly developed KOGD2002. To this end, the software for orthometric height obtaining and geodetic datum transformation has been implemented with the visual C++ language, what we called GPS-GeoL v.1.0. In order to evaluate the performance and the accuracy of the software, GPS field tests were carried out in the Korean second-order leveling network over Chollabukdo area. Results of the tests have shown that the mean value of the differences between outputs of the software developed in this research and officially announced orthometric heights by NGII (National Geographic Information Institute) was 0.0221 m and also those of RMS was 0.0332 m. Therefore, it was possible to conclude that the KOGD2003 and GPS-GeoL v.1.0 software could be used to determine orthometric heights for civil construction field applications with cm-level accuracy.
This study presents a method for level ice-structure interaction analysis to estimate the fatigue damage of arctic structures by applying plate theory to the behavior of level ice. The boundary element method (BEM), which incurs a lower computational cost than the finite element method (FEM), was introduced to solve the plate bending problem. The BEM formulation was performed by applying the BEM to plate theory. Finally, to check the validity of the proposed method, the BEM results and FEM results obtained using the ABAQUS commercial software were compared. The response results of the BEM analysis agreed well with those of the FEM analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, the BEM approach is considered to be very powerful in level ice-structure interaction analysis for estimating level ice-induced fatigue damage. Further work is being conducted to perform level ice fracture analysis based on the stress field calculated using the boundary element method.
Recently, several open source codes for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) have been introduced and are spreading fast. Our group has chosen the OpenFOAM as a platform to develop our own in-house code. In this brief review, we would like to share the information on the codes and what we have experienced so far. We introduce several features of OpenFOAM, which include the performance compared with commercial packages, estimation for current user population, and our own prospect for future improvement in performance and growth in user population. In addition, we briefly introduce our experience gained in embedding the level set method into the OpenFOAM.
Computer Integrated Manufacturing(CIM) is a growing technology as a solution for the total automation of a manufacturing system. However, the implementation in the shop floor is extremely difficult due to many reasons. Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) is usually considered as a solution for the shop floor automation. One of the difficulties in FMS is the communications problem. Since various machinaries with different communications protocols are included, applying a unified scheme is almost impossible. Therefore, a systematic approach is a key point to solve the communication problem. A cell is defined as an automation unit where closely related for a job reside together. A cell is a messenger between upper level computers and lower level machine equipment. In this research, the functions of the cell are defined to have more capabilities than conventional cell since a cell can be often a total manufacturing system in a small to medium sized factory. The cell conducts communications with different machines through the communications schemes established here. A set of software system has been developed according to the defined communications. The software has been tested for a simulation and real experiments for proof.
As the demands of manufacturing automation is increasing, lots of efforts are devoted to the applications of Computer Integrated Manufacturing(CIM) concept in manufacturing shop floor. A workstation is a computer which controls differnet machines in the low level of factory(shop floor). A workstation can be utilized efficiently to enhance the coopetative work of machines. A scheduler is a component program in a workstation and it controls the operation of machines according to a fixed plan. A scheme for the scheduler has been developed for selected machines and software has been made. The fixed plan is stored in a schedule file which keeps machine names, communications methods, information for communications and time for the usages, etc. The scheduler carries out its role by the information in the schedule file. Although the developed software has some Iimitations, the test results show that the scheduler can be applied easily to the automation of the low level of factory.
With the popularity of smart device, mobile applications are playing more and more important role in people's daily life, these applications stores various information which greatly facilitate the user's daily life. However due to the frequent transmission of data in the network also increases the risk of data leakage, more and more developers began to focus on how to protect user data. Current mainstream development models include Native development, Web development and Hybrid development. Hybrid development is based on JavaScript and HTML5, it has a cross platform advantages similar to Web Apps and a good user experience similar to Native Apps. In this paper according to the features of Hybrid applications, we proposed a security scheme in Hybrid development model implements message-level data encryption to protect user information. And through the performance evaluation we found that in some scenario the proposed security scheme has a better performance.
The demand for automatic manufacturing systems is increasing. One of the crucial obstacles to the Flexible Manufacturing System(FMS) is the lack of excellent strategies for efficient operations. The aim of this research is constructing an automaton scheme in the low level of factories where various machineries are involved. An operating strategy is established for an automation unit named as a cell which resides between the upper level computers and manufacturing shop floor. The cell is defined to fit into the total manufacturing system. The defined cell has more functions than conventional cells. A scheduling scheme is adopted for the shop floor operations. A set of software has been developed and tested through simulations and shop floor experiments.
