This study examined the impact of social support and job-related tension on burnout of social workers in public sector. A participant of 300 social workers in public sector were recruited from Inchen city and completed the questionnaires during August, 2011. Data were entered into simple regression and hierarchical multiple regression analyses. First, women had a little higher mean score of burnout than men. However, this was not a statistically significant difference. Job Classification and year of work experiences were very important predictors for burn-out of social workers in public sector. Second, there was a strong positive relationship between job-related tension and burnout. Third, there was a strong negative relationship between social support and burnout. As the perception about social support by social workers increased, the level of burnout tended to decrease. Finally, the set of analyses examined the impact of social support after controlling for effects of demographic variables and job-related tension. Perceived social support, job-related tension made a significant contribution in burnout. The results of this research study provide several implications for social work practices. More research is needed regarding the effects of social support and job-related tension on burnout of social workers in public sector. For social works in public sector, supervision from supervisors appeared to have a protective effect against social workers' burnout.

This study identified the recovery factors from the grief of business failures of serial entrepreneurs and analyzed Shepherd's(2003) three areas: loss orientation, restoration orientation, and dual process. To this end, individual in-depth interviews were conducted with 12 small business serial entrepreneurs who challenged re-startup to identify the attributes of recovery factors that were not identified with quantitative data. As a result of the study, first, recovery factors were investigated in three areas: individual orientation, family orientation, and network orientation. It was found to help improve recovery in nine categories: self-esteem, persistence, personal competence, hobbies, self-confidence, family support, networks, religion, and social support. Second, recovery obstacle factors were investigated in three areas: psychological, economic, and environmental factors. Nine categories including family, health, social network, business partner, competitor, partner, fund, external environment, and government policy were found to persist negative emotions. • This study examines the effects of social network support types on the subjective satisfaction of life for elderly people focused on the impact of voluntary and present oriented social network type represented by hobby club vs. non voluntary and past oriented social network type for example alumni association in Korean society respectively. According to the advanced studies figured out by preceding researchers, most of social networks had a good and positive effects on the elderly people's subjective satisfaction of life. However, this study tried to classify the social networks by type such as starting time to make relationship among members and voluntary or non voluntary for participation to the networks. As a result of this study, voluntary and present oriented social network represented by hobby club has a very positive relationship with Korean elderly people's subjective satisfaction of life while non voluntary and past oriented social network as alumni association has no relationship with elderly people's subjective satisfaction of life. Therefore, government policies and budget should be concentrated on encouraging or supporting voluntary and present oriented social networks such as hobby club, voluntary agency etc. rather than non voluntary and past oriented social networks so as to maximize the effect for increasing Korean elderly people's subjective satisfaction of life.

  • As Social Welfare Service Act was revised in 2011 and its enforcement decree was revised in 2012, the function of local social welfare center was classified into 3 functions such as case control function, service supply function and local society systematization function. Therefore, from 2013, local social welfare center faces the assignment to establish its status as a core subjectivity of local social welfare while maintaining function, role, business, program, service and organization system required for local social welfare center. Currently, there are internal and external limit factors for local social welfare center to perform its original function. The external limit factors are competition with similar organization, diversification of welfare desire depending on social change, insufficient service network construction and lack of partnership between private sector and government. The internal limit factors are lack of local social organization's ability, program issue, insufficient resource, insufficient manpower, etc. In order for local social welfare center to overcome the limit factor and establish the core status for improving the life quality of resident, it should concentrate its ability on local society systematization, construct human & material support network related to local social welfare, minimize social education program and simple relief project gradually, suggest the reasonable direction for village to nurture resident organization, develop the program based on the research on local resident's desire and create the partnership between private sector and government.

  • Based on social capital theory, this study investigated the influence of the start-up founder's social competence on the start-up's access to funding sources and performance through the mediating role of the type of social network. This study aimed to examine two types of social networks empirically (i.e., personal networks and business networks) as social capital in analyzing the effect of the founder's social competence and social capital on the method of accessing funding sources. A self-report questionnaire was administered to 252 South Korean start-up founders whose businesses are based in South Korea. Path analysis and mediation effect analysis were performed by structural equation modeling(SEM) using STATA 16.1. This study examined the full mediating effect of the founder's social competence on his/her personal and business networks, respectively, and how the effect leads to different methods to approach funding sources. This is the first study in South Korea to analyze empirically how social competence has contrasting effects on personal and business networks as well as how each type of network varies in its influence on the method founders use to attract investment. This study is also significant in that it proposed a new methodology by utilizing the position generator as the measure of personal and business networks to analyze social networks in detail. The analyses of 252 survey data collected over a period of six months will be a valuable resource that may provide researchers, founders, investors, and other stakeholders in the start-up ecosystem with meaningful implications.
