  • This paper presents an LMI-based method to design an integral sliding mode controller for an uncertain system with a polytopic model. The uncertain system under consideration may have mismatched parameter uncertainties in the state matrix as well as in the input matrix. Using LMIs we derive an existence condition of a sliding surface. And we give a switching feedback control law.

  • This paper presents a sliding mode observer and Controller far the state estimation and the dynamic stabilization of the magnetic levitation systems. The proposed striding mode observer is constructed by means of Lyapunov stability theorem to decrease the observer error, and the sliding rode controller is designed by a linear combination of the equivalent and nonlinear control input for the estimated states. The feasibilities of the suggested design method are illustrated with the simulation results.

  • This paper presents an LMI-based method to design an adaptive sliding mode controller for a class of uncertain systems. In terms of LMIs an existence condition of a sliding surface is derived. And an adaptive switching feedback control law to guarantee the asymptotic stability as well as to estimate the norm bound of disturbances is proposed. Finally, a numerical design example for controlling a overhead crane model is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Robust control for DC motor is needed according to the highest precision of industrial automation. However, when a motor control system has an effect of load disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system. Generally, it is known that sliding mode controller has robustness. But, after it is assumed that we known the disturbance uncertainty, sliding mode controller is designed. Thereafter, if we are not known th disturbance uncertainty then controller design is difficult. As a method solving this problem, in this paper, Expert sliding mode control method for motor control system is presented. The proposed controller can eliminate load disturbance effectively. The effectiveness of the control scheme is verified by simulation results.

  • It is important to understand the trajectory of structure in launching process because of the short time of launching process may result in unexpected accidents or damage to structures. The high risk of structural failure is not avoidable without the fully comprehension of changing forces in launching procedure. The commercial software can evaluate the motion of launching event in calm water condition but there is the limitation of research application because of the programmed commercial software. The launching process of the spar hull is suggested with stage concept that is divided into 10 stages in time domain. A force equilibrium diagram is derived for each stage where the changes of force vector and motion characteristics take place. In particular, the effects of changes in buoyancy and drag force due to the progressive submergence of the spar hull are taken into account by means of a touch length concept. The results contained in this paper provide the valuable information of the trajectory motion evaluation with suggested methods in spar launching process with sliding barge. Furthermore, the presented stage concept and touch length concept will provide basic knowledge for understanding launching process and help to develop further research area for launching analysis.

  • Robust control for DC motor is needed according to the highest precision of industrial automation. However, when a motor control system has an effect of load disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system. The sliding mode control has robustness, but the discontinuous control law in sliding mode control with robustness leads to undesirable chattering in practice. As a method solving this problem, in this paper, neural network sliding mod control method for motor control system is presented. The proposed controller effectively can eliminate load disturbance without chattering. The effectiveness of the control scheme is verified by simulation results.

  • Purpose: "Building energy design standard" is used to limit the thermal transmittance of building in Korea. However, it only covers the insulation standard for each appropriate elements of a building, not the thermal performance of Junction thermal bridge of windows and doors installed in wall. Therefore in this study, we have evaluated the thermal performance of Junction thermal bridge depending on installation method and position of windows and provide it as design data. Method: We analyzed heat transfer of 4-Track sliding window and tilt & turn triple glazed window that are placed in the first class category on window energy efficiency rating using Window 7.4 and Therm 7.4. Result : First, linear thermal transmittance of 4-Track sliding window differs by 2.2 times or more depending of installation method and location. It is higher than the linear thermal transmittance, 0.01W/mK, proposed by Passivhaus. Second, linear thermal transmittance of Tilt & turn triple glazed window differs by 7.7 times or more depending of installation method and location. The average linear thermal transmittance was less than 0.01W /mK when windows were installed on the internal wall insulation by the fixed hardware attachment method. Third, the thermal losses of a window caused by a junction thermal bridge are inversely proportional to the window area and converge gradually as the area increased.

  • A control alogorithm using sliding mode and neural network for Buck type DC-DC converter is presented. Also, we conform a rightness the proposal method by comparing a theoretical values and experimental values obtained from experiment using DSP(digital signal processor). Performance comparisons made with the general hysteresis controller clearly bring out the superior performance of the proposal neural network controller. This paper will be applied to other power conversion system using the proposal neural network controller.

  • In 1980, 154kV OF cable was installed at the Cheong-Pyeong pumped-storage power station. Effective head of this pumped-storage station is 250m between upper and lower re-servior and length of cable route is 750m. However, several failures have happened owing to steep slope during the operation. 154 kV XLPE cable was applied for this power station to eliminate a lack of stability on account of steep slope and successfully installed in 1991. Meanwhile, installation procedure brings about many problem to be solved. In this paper, we describe the counter measure of cable sliding phenomena caused by heat shrinkage as well as the method of installation of cable under the steep slope condition. And hereafter, we think this paper will be a good reference to design and installation of 154kV XLPE cables in steep slope turnnel at urban areas.

  • For better understanding of carbon cycle dynamics of an agro-ecosystem, an accurate assessment of seasonal and daily $CO_2$ flux is essential to understand the relationship between various environmental factors and crop productivity. We developed the automatic sliding canopy chamber (ASCC) system that measured continuous net ecosystem productivity (NEP) over whole growing season under the natural meteorological rhythm. The ASCC was composed of two main parts which were sliding part for measuring NEP, and automatic opening and closing chamber (AOCC) for measuring soil respiration (SR) on the soil surface. The ASCC was developed by using open flow method for measuring soil $CO_2$ efflux. The disturbance of natural meteorological condition was minimized by opening the base frames. In the field test with barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), NEP was calculated at $140mg\;CO_2\;m^{-2}h^{-1}$ on a clear day using continuous data and eliminated the possibility of overestimate about 16% using one hour data during the day time. Unlike other small scale chamber system, installation on cropping-field made it possible to take any modifications which might be caused by natural environmental condition.
