  • In this paper, the design method of sliding mode control (SMC) system for SISO linear system is discussed. First, we consider the similarity between the design method of sliding mode hyper plane using the strict positive realness and the characteristics of zeros of feedback system and the design method of simple adaptive control. Based on such a consideration, we propose the new design method of SMC system using parallel dynamic compensator. As a result, SMC system can be constructed only with the derivative of output signal for controlled plant. The performance of SMC system designed by proposed method is confirmed through the numerical example.

  • This paper presents motion control of the precision stage composed of the piezoelectric actuator and flexible hinges. The stage shows approximately 27% overshoot when the stage was applied to 30V square wave input voltage. Also, the stage shows nonlinear response characteristics including hysteresis. This paper proposes feedback control technique to suppress the phenomenon of hysteresis and overshoot using the sliding mode control scheme with the integrator. Also, this paper suggests the method that searches important parameters of sliding mode control and observer using Genetic Algorithm. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm, experimental validations are performed.

Adaptive sliding mode observer of the motor stator coordinate system using the voltage equations of the rotor flux components are observed. Lyapunov function of the induction motor speed is estimated by the relationship further. In order to establish such a control scheme based on the way conventional PI controller and sliding mode observer annexing characteristics of the system through simulation and experiment were compared. Analyzed and compared according to the results presented confirmed the usefulness of the system.

  • A new semi-continuous sliding mode control is proposed for electromagnetic suspension systems. The control input is derived from the reaching law and the Lyapunov stability criteria, which is composed of continuous terms and low switching term. It has a low switching gain and chattering fee characteristics. It is shown by the computer simulation that the proposed control has good tracking performance and robustness compared with the classical sliding mode control.

  • The objective of this paper is to design and implement sliding mode control scheme for an actuation system using BLDC motor. Since the dynamic characteristics of this system with unknown disturbance and parameter variations are very complicated and highly nonlinear, the conventional linear control approaches may not guarantee satisfactory control performances. In order to improve the dynamic performances of this system, a model following sliding mode control(MFSMC) with perturbation estimation approach is designed and implemented. It eliminates the conventional requirements for the knowledge of uncertainty upper boundary. The effectiveness of this control approach is verified by comparison with a PID control through a series of simulation and experimental studies.

  • The sliding-mode control technique could make a system unstable which external disturbance and uncertainty exists in. This paper suggests a robust sliding-mode control algorithm which can be applied to a linear system with parameter uncertainties. To reduce the chattering effect, the whole system is comprised of using a state variable in which the state's estimated value is added. The condition of estimated state results from state observer. The proposed control algorithm uses the optimal feedback controller following the dynamic system equation which consists of a state variable resulting from its own state variable, controller input, estimated state variable. Through comparison with the time optimal control algorithm using simulation, the suggested algorithm shows the improved stability and robustness while it manifests the fast tracking characteristics.

  • A new robust sliding mode controller is formulated for the tip position control of a single-link flexible manipulator with parameter variations. After establishing the plant model characterized by a noncollocated uncertain control system, a sliding surface which guarantees stable sliding mode motion is synthesized in an optimal manner. The surface is then modified to adapt arbitrarily given initial conditions. A discontinuous control law associated with the modified surface is designed by restricting that velocity state variables are not available from direct sensor measurements. Using the proposed control law favorable system responses are accomplished through shortening the reaching phase of state trajectory without increasing maximum control torque as well as undesirable chattering. Furthermore, a low sensitiveness to uncertainties is obtained from inherent salient properties of the proposed control system. Computer simulations are undertaken in order to demonstrate these superior control performance characteristics to be accrued from the proposed methodology.

  • A new scheme for sliding-mode control (SMC) of DC-DC converters with a constant switching frequency is proposed. The scheme is based on the averaging model and the output signal of the controller is $d^+$ or $d^-$ instead of the on or off signal of a direct sliding-mode (SM) controller or the continuous signal d = $u_{eq}$ of an indirect SM controller. Two approaches using the new scheme are also proposed and the design procedures for a buck converter are given in detail. The first approach called constant $d^+$ and $d^-$ SMC is simple, cost effective and dynamically fast. In order to improve the dynamic characteristics of the reaching phase and to alleviate chattering, the second approach called reaching law SMC is also presented. Analyses and simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed scheme.

Especially non-working days of steel erection work is about 58 days, it is influenced deleteriously to estimating uncertain construction duration. To solve this problem, Construction Factory(CF) and sliding roof system installed CF's upper side are developed in korea recently. This study is proposed the design of sliding roof system through assess relation of requirements and technical characteristics using Quality Function Deployment(QFD). The basis data for applying QFD is collected from literature reviews and questionnaires/interviews targeting system developer, experts and researchers.

  • Magnetic bearing is an attractive device in precision engineering field because of its non-contacting nature and controllability of its dynamic characteristics. This paper provides a method of designing a sliding mode control for an active magnetic hearing(AMB) system which is used to support the elevation axis of a target tracking sight instead of mechanical bearings to eliminate the effect of mechanical friction. In such system, the axis should be levitated and supported within a predetermined air gap while AMB is excited by base motion. Experimental results showed that the sliding mode control is effective in disturbance rejection than conventional PID-control without any additive measurements.
