Research for solar-powered high altitude long endurance(HALE) UAV was conducted by Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI), and the EAV-3 with 19.5m wing span was developed. For HALE flight, aircraft should be lightly designed. Especially, airframe structure that accounts for a large portion of the total weight of aircraft should be lightweight. In this paper, development process of airframe structure for solar-powered HALE UAV, EAV-3, is described briefly. Domestic developed T-800 grade CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) composite material with high modulus and strength was used to design main load carrying structures. Flightloads analysis that takes into account large structural deformation was carried out. Stress and flutter analyses for airframe structure sizing were conducted. Static strength test for main wing and aircraft ground vibration test were conducted successfully and structural integrity was secured.
Renewable energy hybrid systems look into the process of choosing the finest arrangement of components and their sizing with suitable operation approach to deliver effective, consistent and cost effective energy source. This paper presents hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) solar photovoltaic, downdraft biomass gasifier, and fuel cell based generation system. HRES electrical power to supply the electrical load demand of academic research building sited in $23^{\circ}12^{\prime}N$ latitude and $77^{\circ}24^{\prime}E$ longitude, India. Fuzzy logic programming discover the most effective capital and replacement value on components of HRES. The cause regarding fuzzy logic rule usage on HOMER pro (Hybrid optimization model for multiple energy resources) software program finds the optimum performance of HRES. HRES is designed as well as simulated to average energy demand 56.52 kWh/day with a peak energy demand 4.4 kW. The results shows the fuel cell and battery bank are the most significant modules of the HRES to meet load demand at late night and early morning hours. The total power generation of HRES is 23,794 kWh/year to the supply of the load demand is 20,631 kWh/year with 0% capacity shortage.
In this paper, we investigate the effects of yield randomness for lot-sizing in a multi-stage production system. The practical importance of incorporating yield randomness into production models has been emphasized by many researchers. Yield randomness, especially in semiconductor manufacturing, poses a mojor challenge for production planning and control. The task becomes even more difficult if the demand for final product is uncertain. An attempt to meet the demand with a higher level of confidence forces one to release more input in the fabrication line. This leads to excessive work-in-process (WIP) inventories which cause jobs to spend unpredictably longer time waiting for the machines. The result is that it is more difficult to meet demand with exceptionally long cycle time and puts further pressure to increase the safety stocks. Due to this spiral effect, it is common to find that the capital tied in inventory is the msot significant factor undermining profitability. We propose a policy to determine the quantity to be processed at each stage of a multi-stage production system in which the yield at each stage may be random and may need rework.
The paper deals with strength design of a riser support installed on floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel under various loading conditions - operation, extreme, damaged, one line failure case (OLFC) and installation. The design problem is formulated such that thickness sizing variables are determined by minimizing the weight of a riser support structure subject to stresses constraints. The initial design model is generated based on an actual FPSO riser support specification. The finite element analysis (FEA) is conducted using MSC/NASTRAN, and optimal solutions are obtained via moving least squares method (MLSM) in the context of response surface based approximate optimization. For the meta-modeling of inequality constraint functions of stresses, a constraint-feasible moving least squares method (CF-MLSM) is used in the present study. The method of CF-MLSM, compared to a conventional MLSM, has been shown to ensure the constraint feasibility in a case where the approximate optimization process is employed. The optimization results present improved design performances under various riser operating conditions.
When designing protective clothing, there are something to be considered such as physiological feature of human body, acting range not to restrict physical activity, and effectiveness of material. Because the primary objective of protective clothing is to protect human body from danger and it is designed through complex designing process not likely general clothing design. However, current evaluation techniques-such as the ISO, the ASTM and the CEN, and KS-provide only the standard to evaluate the primary feature of material (testing, performance requirements, material specification, selection and application, test and care, and so on). There are no standard to evaluate influence for the human body while protective clothing put on. Especially, in Korea, there is KS to evaluate protective clothing, but it is partially translated version from ISO because of lack of core technology about this field. However, developed countries recognize it is new competitive means in the time of Global Standards and they are competing to make their own standard to global standard for the protective clothing. Therefore, it can be great opportunity for Korean clothing and textile industry to revitalize if focusing on research and development for protective clothing design based on physical activity of human body, fit evaluation technique and sizing which is currently no global standard for it and developing our standard to global standard.
Steam generator (SG) tubes are expanded inside tubesheet holes by using explosive or hydraulic methods to be fixed in a tubesheet. In the tube expansion process, it is important to minimize the crevice gap between expanded tube and tube sheet. In this paper, absolute and differential signals are computed by a numerical method for several different locations of tube expansion inside and outside a tubesheet and signal variations due to tubesheet, tube expansion and operating frequencies are observed. Results show that low frequency is good for detecting tubesheet location in both types of signals and high frequency is suitable for sizing of tube diameter as well as the detection of transition region. Also learned is that the absolute signal is good for measuring tube diameter, while the differential signal is good for locating the top of tubesheet and both ends of the transition region. In the case of mingled anomaly with tube expansion and tubesheet, low frequency inspection is found to be useful to analyze the mixed signal.
Along the few nano sizing dimensions of integrated circuit (IC) devices, acceptable interlayer material for design is inevitable. The interlayer which include dielectric, interconnect, barrier etc. needs to achieve not only electrical properties, but also mechanical properties for endure post manufacture process and prolonging life time. For developing intermetallic dielectric (IMD) the mechanical issues with post manufacturing processes were need to be solved. For analyzing specific structural problem and material properties Raman spectroscopy was performed for various researches in Si semiconductor based materials. As improve of the laser and charge-coupled device (CCD) technology the total effectiveness and reliability was enhanced. For thin film as IMD developed material could be analyzed by Raman spectroscopy, and diverse researches of developing method to analyze thin layer were comprehended. Also In-situ analysis of Raman spectroscopy is introduced for material forming research.

The spray-induced mixing characteristics and thermal decomposition of aqueous urea solution into ammonia have been studied to design optimum sizes and geometries of the mixing chamber in SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. The cold flow tests about the urea-injection nozzle were performed to clarify the parameters of spray mixing characteristics such as mean diameter and velocity of drops and spray width determined from the interactions between incoming air and injected drops. Discrete particle model in Fluent code was adopted to simulate spray-induced mixing process and the experimental results on the spray characteristics were used as input data of numerical calculations. The simulation results on the spray-induced mixing were verified by comparing the spray width extracted from the digital images with the simulated Particle tracks of injected drops. The single kinetic model was adopted to predict thermal decomposition of urea solution into ammonia and solved simultaneously along with the verified spray model. The hot air generator was designed to match the flow rate and temperature of the exhaust gas of the real engines The measured ammonia productions in the hot air generator were compared with the numerical predictions and the comparison results showed good agreements. Finally, we concluded that the design capabilities for sizing optimum mixing chamber were established.

The flow ratio in the industrial process is usually accomplished by using PID controller with series type ratio. But always the large overshoot and a long rise time may be achieved from this conventional control. These problems are involved to the inexact flow ratio control. In order to avoid this poor performance. the paper presents a designing of the two controller modes for the flow ratio plants. This proposed controller combine the lookup table technique and the well-known PID controller to obtain the fast response and low overshoot of flow ratio control. The PID controller mode will be operated when the flow ratio reaches the preset value while the lookup table technique mode is applied for initial operation. The data in tile table is calculated by the valve sizing equation and convened to the valve position control signal. The experimental results show that the transient and steady state responses of the control systems using the proposed technique can be efficiently obtained when compared with tile conventional controller.
Pantograph design Process must be considered in terms of stability of aerodynamics and reduction of aeroacoustics. Furthermore pantograph needs to be insensible to severe circumstance condition like typhoon, tunnel, a change of season. In this paper, robust design of panhead sections is conducted based on the Taguchi's design of experiment method. In the aeroacoustic noise analysis, an acoustic analogy using the Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings(FW-H) equation is used to calculate the flow induced sound pressure level in aeroacoustics. From the near-field CFD analysis data, the far-field noise is predicted at the positions of 25 m away from Pantograph. Based on aerodynamic(CFD) and aeroacoustic(FW-H) analysis data, the optimal sizing and Positioning of panhead elements are determined using robust design optimization method. Design parameters such as thickness, length and radius are controllable factors, while outdoor air temperature and atmospheric pressure are considered as uncontrollable factors in the context of Taguchi's approach. A number of CFD simulation and aeroacoustic analysis are performed based on orthogonal arrays. In this paper, two-step optimization method is used as a parameter design procedure. It is executed using signal to noise(S/N) ratio and analysis of means(ANOM) method. So Thus, an optimal level of design parameters Is extracted to minimize the disconnection ration between contact strips and catenary system, and reduce the far-field aeroacoustic noise.
