은 카바메이트 복합체를 이용한 라디칼 중합에 의한 은/폴리스티렌 나노복합체의 제조 (Preparation of Silver/Polystyrene Nanocomposites by Radical Polymerization Using Silver Carbamate Complex)

  • Ag/polystyrene(PS) 나노복합체를 110 $^{\circ}C$의 가열법에 의하여 silver 2-ethylhexylcarbamate(Ag-CB) 복합체의 환원과 동시에 라디칼 중합을 진행하여 제조하였다. 또한, 이러한 전통적인 가열법과는 대조적으로 마이크로파를 조사하여 스티렌 단량체의 중합이 진행됨이 없이 은 나노입자가 잘 분산된 콜로이드 스티렌 용액을 제조할 수 있었다. 이렇게 단지 마이크로파를 조사하여 은 나노입자를 제조하는 방법은 반응기 내의 전체 용액 속에서 균일하고 빠르게 진행되어 매우 입자가 작고 균일한 은 나노콜로이드 용액을 제조할 수 있었다. 또한, 연속적으로 얻어진 은 나노입자를 포함하는 단량체 용액을 라디칼 중합시킴으로써 PS 고분자 매트릭스에 은 나노입자가 잘 분산된 Ag/PS 나노복합체를 얻을 수 있었다. Ag/PS(0.1/100) 나노복합체는 Ag/PS(4.0/100)를 마스터배치로 사용하여 용융-혼합 방법에 의하여 성공적으로 제조할 수 있었으며 그러한 나노복합체를 UV-VIS spectroscopy, TEM, 그리고 XRD를 이용하여 확인하였다.

Unusual Facilitated Olefin Transport through Polymethacrylate/Silver Salt Complexes

  • Silver salt complex membranes with glassy poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) unexpectedly showed higher propylene permeance than those with rubbery poly(butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) where as neat PMMA is much less permeable to propylene than that of neat PBMA. Such unusual facilitated olefin transport has been systematically investigated by changing the side chain length of polymethacrylates (PMAs) from methyl, ethyl to butyl. The ab initio calculation showed almost the same electron densities of the carbonyl oxygens in the three PMAs, expecting very similar intensity of the interaction between carbonyl oxygen and silver ion. However, the interaction intensity decreases with the length of the alkyl side chain: PMMA > PEMA > PBMA according to wide angle X-ray scattering and FT-Raman spectroscopy. The difference in the interaction intensity may arise from the difference in the hydrophilicity of the three PMAs, as confirmed by the contact angle of water, which determines the concentrations of the ionic constituents of silver salts: free ion, contact ion pair and higher order ionic aggregate. However, propylene solubilities and facilitated propylene transport vary with the side chain length significantly even at the same concentration of the free ion, the most active olefin carrier, suggesting possible difference in the prohibition of the molecular access of propylene to silver ion by the side chains: the steric hindrance. Therefore, it may be concluded that both the hydrophilicity and the steric hindrance associated with the side chain length in the three PMAs are of pivotal importance in determining facilitated olefin transport through polymer/silver salt complex membranes.

알코올 용제의 은 나노 잉크 제조와 프린팅 기술의 응용 (Silver nano-ink formulation based on alcohol and its application to inkjet printing)

  • This study was attended to demonstrate synthesis of silver nanoparticles stabilized with polymer and their applicability to printed electronics. Silver nanoparticles were synthesized by reduction of silver nitrate in aqueous solution in the presence of polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as a stabilizer. The ink used here is composed of 50 wt% Ag NP, 15 wt% humectant and then were printed on polyimide film. Particle deposit morphologies were controlled by varying the ink compositions. Printed silver patterns and dots were cured on a convection oven in air at $300^{\circ}C$ for 60 min. The printed patterns show good shape definition and the resistivity of the printed films is about $5{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$.

Selective Coordination of Silver Ions to Poly(styrene-b-(ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene) and its Influence on Morphology and Facilitated Olefin Transport

  • The $\pi$-complex membranes of poly(styrene-b-(ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene) (SEBS) of two silver salts of $AgBF_4$ and $AgCF_3SO_3$ were prepared and tested for the separation of the propylene/propane mixtures. The Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra of these complexes showed that the silver salts were dissolved in SEBS up to a silver mole fraction of 0.14, due to $\pi$-complexation between the aromatic C=C bonds of styrene blocks and silver ions. Above this solubility limit, ion pairs and high-order ionic aggregates began to form, so that silver salts were distributed unselectively in both the EB and PS blocks. The domain size of the PS blocks was enlarged up to this critical concentration with increasing silver concentration without structural transitions, as confirmed by small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS). These structural properties of the SEBS/silver salt complexes may explain the lower separation properties for propylene/propane mixtures compared to poly(styrene-b-butadiene-b-styrene)(SBS)/silver salt complex membranes.

Photocatalytic performance of graphene/Ag/TiO2 hybrid nanocomposites

  • To improve photocatalytic efficiency, graphene/Ag/TiO2 nanotube catalyst was synthesized, and its surface characteristics and photocatalytic activity investigated. For deposition of Ag nanoparticles on the TiO2 nanotubes, a polymer compound containing CH3COOAg/poly(L-lactide) was utilized, and the silver particles were precipitated by reducing the silver ions during the annealing process. Graphene deposition on the Ag/TiO2 nanotubes was achieved using an electrophoretic deposition process. Based on the dye degradation results, it was determined that the photocatalytic efficiency was significantly affected by deposition of silver particles and graphene on the TiO2 catalyst. Highly efficient destruction of the dye was obtained with the new graphene/Ag/TiO2 nanotube photocatalyst. This may be attributed to a synergistic effect of the graphene and Ag nanoparticles on the TiO2 nanotubes.

Effect of Salt on Facilitated Propylene Transport through Crosslinked PVA/Silver Salt Complex Membranes

  • Complex membranes consisting of silver salt ($AgBF_4,\;AgCF_3SO_3,\;AgSbF_6,\;AgNO_3$) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) or crosslinked PVA (CPVA) were prepared and tested for the separation of propylene/propane mixtures. For the tested membranes, the complex membranes containing $AgBF_4$ exhibited the highest separation properties, i.e., approximately 20 GPU ($1 GPU=10^{-6}cm^3 (STP)/(cm^2 sec cmHg)$) and 100 of selectivity at 0.2 of silver mole fraction. The CPVA membranes containing silver salt always showed higher selectivity than PVA membranes, presenting silver ions coordinated to -CHO are more effective than those to -OH groups. The threshold silver concentration of CPVA membranes was lower than that of PVA membranes, which might be due to stronger interaction of silver ions with -CHO than that with -OH. The composition at which the selectivity is the highest did not significantly depend on the crosslinking, but did on the kind of silver salt.

  • 장시간에 걸쳐 약물의 흡수가 일어날 수 있는 고분자 matrix을 개발하고자, 글리세린과 증류수를 혼합 교반 시킨 후, 분자량이 서로 다른 세 종류의 dextran을 각각 첨가하여 용해시켰다. 이 용액에 silver sulfadiazine을 분산시켜 matrix를 제조하였다. 이렇게 제조된 고분자 matrix로부터 약물 방출 양상을 규명하기 위해 인산염 완충용액 중에서 약물의 함유량 변화, dextran의 분자량 변화 및 글리세린의 농도 변화에 영향을 미치는 인자들에 관하여 연구 검토한 바 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 고분자 matrix내의 silver sulfadiazine의 함유량이 증가할수록 약물 방출 지속 시간은 11.2일, 14.0일 및 15.8일로 지연되었다. Dextran의 분자량 변화에 대해서는 약 14.0일로 거의 같은 약물 방출 pattern을 보임으로써 겉보기 방출속도상수 (K)값과의 관계와 일치하는 결과를 얻었다. 그러나 글리세린의 함유량이 증가함에 따라 약물 방출 지속 시간은 각각 18.0일, 17.0일, 14.0일, 13.0일 및 10.0일로 감소하였다.

Dendrite 형상 구리 입자의 무전해 은 도금에 의한 열적 안정성 향상에 관한 연구 (Study on Improvement of Thermal Stability of Dendrite-shape Copper Particles by Electroless Silver Plating)

  • Dendrite 형태의 구리 입자 표면을 은으로 무전해 도금을 하는 과정에서, 치환도금(displacement plating)과 화학 환원도금(reducing electroless plating)을 병용하여 다양한 silver-coated copper (Ag@Cu) 입자들을 제조하였다. Ag@Cu 입자들의 물리화학적 특성은 SEM-EDS, TGA, XPS, XRD 및 BET 등으로 분석하였으며, 환원반응에 의하여 코팅되는 은은 구리 입자 표면에 나노 입자 형태로 형성되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. Ag@Cu 입자들을 에폭시 수지와 복합화하여 도전성 필름을 제조하고 그의 열적 안정성을 평가하였다. 치환 반응과 환원 반응의 차이가 Ag@Cu 필름의 초기 저항 및 열적 안정성에 미치는 영향에 관하여 연구하였다.

Effects of Vertical Alignment of LCs on Rubbed Polymer Surfaces using Low Resistive Transparent Electrodes

  • We investigated the liquid crystal (LC) aligning capabilities and electrooptical characteristics of semi-transparent silver paste electrodes substituting indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes. Experimental results show that a uniform vertical LC alignment and a large pretilt angle were achieved using the semi-transparent silver paste. The vertical alignment mode based on the semi-transparent silver paste electrodes showed appropriate electro-optical characteristics and a high transparency in comparison with that based on the ITO electrodes. These results indicate that the semi-transparent silver paste electrodes of liquid crystal displays could substitute the ITO electrodes.
