Design of Plano-Convex Lens Antenna Fed by Microstrip Patch Considering Integration with Microwave Planar Circuits

  • In this paper, the plano-convex lens antenna fed by a single patch is studied for a microwave remote-traffic monitoring sensor with constraints of small size and low cost. Measurement of an AUT (Antenna Under Test) involves the considerations of a triangular groove for matched layer and metallic shielding effects. A formulation for extracting the parameters of a piano-convex lens antenna, based on geometrical optics, is introduced using Fermat`s principle of the equi-phased ray condition. Teflon ($\varepsilon_{{\gamma}}$/ =2.0) is chosen as a material of a plano-convex lens antenna for adjustment of aberrations on the lens surfaces automatically. A fabricated plano-convex lens shows 3-dB beamwidth of 7.5 degree and side-lobe level of -29 dB with an aperture distribution of the parabolic-squared taper on pedestal. This lens supports easier integration with the planar microwave circuits by using a microstrip single patch as a primary feeder of the lens antenna.feeder of the lens antenna.

  • 현재 매우 빠른 속도로 늘어나고 있는 인터넷 수요를 충족시키기 위하여 새로운 통신 대안이 필요하다. 이런 대안들 중에 하나가 바로 광대역 고속 전력선 통신이다. 전력선 통신은 전력을 전달하는 도체에 신호를 같이 실어 보내는 통신 방법이다. 하지만 전력선을 그대로 사용한다는 단점 때문에 기존의 사용되는 통신 시스템과의 간섭이 발생한다. 이런 간섭을 제거하기 위하여 일반적인 방법으로는 Notch 필터를 주로 사용한다. 반면 다른 방법의 하나로 Wavelet OFDM이 사용된다. 본 논문에서는 Wavelet OFDM에서 사용되는 CMFB구조에 CIC 필터를 적용하여 그 부협의 값을 더욱 낮추어 성능을 높이는 방법을 제안한다.

고속철도 차량의 소음 측정을 위한 마이크로폰 어레이 설계 연구 (Designing a Microphone Array System for Noise Measurements on High-Speed Trains)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속철도 차량의 소음원을 측정 및 분석하는데 활용하기 위한 마이크로폰 어레이를 설계 및 제작하여 그 활용성을 검증하는 연구를 수행하였다. 우선 다수의 마이크로폰에서 측정된 신호를 바탕으로 음원의 위치 및 방사 형태를 구현하는데 널리 사용되고 있는 지연-합 빔형성 방법이 고려되었으며, 빔 패턴에 대한 이론과 가상 음원에 대한 이론이 소개되었다. 또한 고속철도 음원을 도출하기 위한 요구사항에 만족하는 마이크로폰 어레이의 형상을 설계하기 위한 분석을 수행하여 96채널 마이크로폰 어레이 형상을 설계하였다. 설계된 마이크로폰 어레이의 실제 시험을 통해서 성능을 분석하였으며, 300km/h대로 주행하는 고속열차 차량에 적용하여 본 논문에서 구현한 마이크로폰 어레이의 활용가능성을 확인하였다.

Chebyshev 다항식을 이용한 병렬급전 구조를 가진 LMDS 수신용 마이크로스트립 배열 안테나에 관한 연구 (A Study on Microstrip Array Antenna for LMDS Receiver with Corporate Feeding Network using Chebyshev Polynomials)

  • 본 논문에서는 Chebyshev 다항식을 이용한 병렬급전 구조를 가진 LMDS(Local Multipoint Distribution Service) 수신용 마이크로 스트립 배열 안테나를 제안하였다. Chebyshev 다항식을 이용한 병렬 급전 구조 마이크로스트립 배열 안테나의 설계를 위하여 Chebyshev 다항식을 제시하였고, LMDS 수신을 위해 24~26 GHz 주파수 대역 8$\times$8 배열 안테나를 제시된 배열이론에 따라 설계하였다. 제작된 8$\times$8 배열 안테나의 이득은 23.5 dBi, 대역폭 1.2 GHz, 중심 주파수 24.96 GHz, 삽입손실 -29.15 dB의 측정결과를 얻었다.

Creating a Gain Enhancement Technique for a Conical Horn Antenna by Adding a Wire Medium Structure at the Aperture

  • This paper proposes a technique for improving the conventional conical horn antenna for the X-band frequency using metamaterial on a wire medium structure. The main idea of this research is the application of the wire medium metamaterial to the conical horn's aperture for the enhancement of the horn's gain; this is done without changing the antenna's dimensions. The results show that the wire medium structure can increase the gain of a conventional conical horn antenna from approximately 17.7 dB to 20.9 dB (an increase of approximately 3.2 dB). A prototype antenna was fabricated, and its fundamental parameters including its reflection coefficient ($S_{11}$), radiation patterns, and directive gain were measured. The simulated and measured results were very good. The wire medium structure of the proposed antenna improved the radiation pattern, enhanced the directivity, increased the gain, and reduced the side lobe level using a simple integrated wire medium structure.

  • ZnO thin films were deposited on various substrates, such as Si-(111), SiO$_2$(5000 $\AA$ by thermal CVD)/Si-(100), and SiO$_2$(2000 $\AA$ by RF sputtering)/Si-(100). The (002)-orientation, surface morphology and roughness, and electrical resistivity of deposited films were measured and compared in terms of substrate. Surface acoustic wave(SAW) filters with a multilayered configuration of IDT/ZnO/SiO$_2$/Si were also fabricated and the IDT was obtained using a lift-off method. From the frequency-response characteristics of fabricated devices, the insertion loss and side-lobe rejection were estimated. The experimental results showed that the (002)-oriented growth nature of ZnO films, which played a crucial role of determining the characteristic of SAW device, was strong1y dependent upon the SiO$_2$buffer.

  • This study proposes ZnO thin film as a piezoelectric material for SAW (surface acoustic wave) filter. The ZnO thin film with thickness $2.6{\mu}m$ was deposited (0001)-oriented sapphire by RF magnetron sputtering technique. IDTs (inter-digital transducers) electrodes were patterned upon SAW filter mask with solid finger structure unapodized using lift-off method on ZnO piezoelectric thin film. SAW propagation velocity was measured with the center frequency by HP 8753C network analyzer. A fabricated ZnO SAW filter exhibited a high propagation velocity of 5433 $^m/s$ and relatively insertion loss of -53.391dB at $\lambda=80{\mu}m$. The side-lobe attenuation of the center frequency was about 17dB. When the wavelength was $80{\mu}m$ $(\lambda/4=20{\mu}m)$, the center frequency was 67.907 MHz. $k^2$ (electromechanical coupling coefficient) was 15.84 %.

좌측 수상 전폐 적출술에 의한 선양 낭포암 치험 1례 (Surgical Treatment of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma by Left Tracheal Sleeve Pneumonectomy)

  • Adenoid cystic carcinoma usually grows in the trachea or near its bifurcation and causes obstruction of the air way. We recently experienced a 33 year-old male patient who had adenoid cystic carcinoma in the left main bronchus with the chief complaint of productive cough. On the bronchoscopy, the mass obstructed the left main bronchus completely and had nodularity and increased vascularity.The trachea was shifted to the left side and the lower lobe of the left lung was atelectatic on chest X-ray and computed axial tomogram.He underwent left tracheal sleeve pneumonectomy and lymph node dissection through bilateral thoracotomy. At first,we attempted left tracheal sleeve pneumonectomy through the left thoracotomy,however, it was very difficult to perform carinoplastic procedure after sleeve resection of 2.5cm of distal trachea and 1cm of proximal right main bronchus including whole left lung because of poor operative field and difficulty in the anastomosis of the right main bronchus to the distal end of the trachea without tension.Therefore after radical resection of the left lung we made right thoracotomy,through which we could anastomosed the distal trachea and right main bronchus with 4-0 PDS interrupted suture after mobilization of the right hilum without difficulty. The tumor was confirmed to be adenoid cystic carcinoma with metastasis to subcarinal lymph node histopathologically. Postoperative course was uneventful but he needed two bronchoscopic procedure to clear distal airway of the retained bronchial secretion. He was discharged at 14 days after operation with complete recovery.

  • SiO$_2$ 박막형 음향파 도파로와 Hamming 가중결합 구조를 이용하여 1550nm 파장대역에서 동작하는 음향광학형 2${\times}$2 Ti:LiNbO$_3$ 광 삽입/분기 멀티플렉서를 구현하였다 제안된 소자는 두 개의 입ㆍ출력 광도파로, 두 개의 편광모드분리기와 음향광학형 편광모드 변환기로 구성되었다. 제작된 소자의 삽입손실은 -7 ㏈로 측정되었으며, ∼32 ㎽ RF 구동 파워에서 -l9 ㏈ 의 부 모드 레벨이 측정되었다. 삽입/분기 동작 특성을 확인하였으며, 3 ㏈ 통과대역폭과 tuning rate는 ∼l.5 mm, 8.1 nm/MHz 로 각각 측정되었다.

Numerical Study of a Novel Bi-focal Metallic Fresnel Zone Plate Having Shallow Depth-of-field Characteristics

  • We propose a novel bi-focal metallic Fresnel zone plate (MFZP) with shallow depth-of-field (DOF) characteristics. We design the specific annular slit patterns, exploiting the phase-selection-rule method along with the particle swarm optimization algorithm, which we have recently proposed. We numerically investigate the novel characteristics of the bi-focal MFZP in comparison with those of another bi-focal MFZP having equivalent functionality but designed by the conventional multi-zone method. We verify that whilst both bi-focal MFZPs can produce dual focal spots at $15{\mu}m$ and $25{\mu}m$ away from the MFZP plane, the former exhibits characteristics superior to those of the latter from the viewpoint of axial resolution, including the axial side lobe suppression and axial DOF shallowness. We expect the proposed bi-focal MFZP can readily be fabricated with electron-beam evaporation and focused-ion-beam processes and further be exploited for various applications, such as laser micro-machining, optical trapping, biochemical sensing, confocal sensing, etc.
