Noninformative priors for the common location parameter in half-t distributions

  • In this paper, we want to develop objective priors for the common location parameter in two half-t distributions with unequal scale parameters. The half-t distribution is a non-regular class of distribution. One can not develop the reference prior by using the algorithm of Berger of Bernardo (1989). Specially, we derive the reference priors and prove the propriety of joint posterior distribution under the developed priors. Through the simulation study, we show that the proposed reference prior matches the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense.

공동주택 중앙광장의 개방 구조에 따른 지역 공동체의식의 차이 (Difference in the Sense of Community in Open-Structure Central Squares in Apartment Complexes)

  • 본 연구는 도시의 주택 재개발사업으로 인해 점차 해체되고 있는 지역 공동체의식의 회복을 위한 하나의 대안으로, 공동주택 중앙광장의 물리적 입지에 따른 구조적 특성에 주목하고자 한다. 이는 중앙광장이 단순히 공동주택 거주자들만을 위한 내적이고 자기 완결형의 공간으로 기능하는 것이 아니라, 주변지역 주민들과 소통하고 교류하며 지역 공동체의 거점으로 활성화된 열린 공간으로써 그 범위가 확장될 수 있음을 의미하는 것이다. 연구의 가설은 다음과 같다. 공동주택 중앙광장의 물리적 입지에 의한 구조적 특성은 주변 지역에 대한 공동주택 거주자들의 심리적 개방성과 주변지역 거주자들이 갖는 심리적 접근성, 그리고 지역 공동체의식에 각각 영향을 주게된다. 또한 이러한 개방성과 접근성으로 표현되는 심리적 거리는 지역 공동체의식과 상호 밀접한 관계를 형성한다. 연구를 위해 우선 중앙광장이 단지 외부를 향해 열린 정도에 따라 이를 열린 구조와 닫힌 구조로 유형화하였다. 이를 토대로 동일 지역 안의 비슷한 조건을 가진 신림 푸르지오와 방학 대상타운 현대, 그리고 관악 푸르지오와 방학 삼성 래미안 1단지를 대상지로 선정, 각각 공동주택 거주자들과 주변지역 거주자들의 두 개 집단으로 분류한 후 총 여덟개의 집단을 대상으로 설문 조사를 시행하였다. 지역 공동체의식과 심리적 개방성, 심리적 접근성의 측정 등을 실시한 결과 위의 연구 가설들이 모두 성립함을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 열린 구조의 중앙광장에서 지역 공동체의식과 심리적 개방성, 접근성 등이 각각 높게 나타났으며, 심리적 개방성과 접근성이 높은 경우 지역 공동체의식 역시 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 중앙광장의 물리적 입지성과 지역 주민들의 심리적 개방성, 접근성, 지역 공동체의식이 상호 연관관계를 형성하고 있음을 구체적인 대상지를 통해 분석, 검증하였다는 데에 의의를 두며, 향후 실천적인 중앙광장의 계획과 조성을 위한 하나의 이론적 근거가 될 수 있을 것이다.

멀티캐스트 화상회의를 위한 3-D 음향시스템 설계 (Design of a Three Dimensional Audio System for Multicast Conferencing)

  • 다수의 참여자가 존재하는 멀티미디어 화상회의 시스템에서, 참여자의 얼굴은 화상을 통하여 쉽게 구별할 수 있지만, 음성의 경우는 모든 참여자의 음성이 1차원적으로 처리되기 때문에 참여자의 구분이 어렵고 공간적인 실감을 느끼지 못한다. 본 논문에서는 HRTF(Head Realted Transfer Function: 머리전달 함수)와 거리감 재생 기법을 이용한 3-D 음향재현 시스템을 구현하고, 멀티캐스트 화상회의 시스템의 적절한 화자 배치를 연구분석하였다. 고도각과 수평각을 이용한 청취실험결과, 수평각이 고도각에 비하여 양호한 방향감 구별 인지도를 보였으며, 특히 4명의 참여자가 존재하는 화상회의 시스템의 경우 $10^{\circ}$, 90$^{\circ}$, 270$^{\circ}$, 350$^{\circ}$의 HRTF를 이용한 공간배치가 효율적인 것을 확인하였다. 끝으로 5인 이상의 참여자가 존재하는 경우와 현실감의 개선을 위하여 거리감이 이용될 수 있음을 제안한다.

에너지 저감을 위한 사용자 및 위치인식 기술 적용 디밍 조명제어 시스템 연구 (A Study on the User and Location Awareness Technology Applied Dimming Lighting Control System to Save Energy)

  • Although research and technology developments have recently increased to save lighting energy within buildings, such research and technology development are judged to be unsuitable for energy savings since they are limited in the sense that the application of the technology is fragmented. This study proposes a user and location awareness technology applied to dimming lighting control system and verified the effectiveness of energy savings by building a test bed. The results were as follows : 1) This study suggested a user and location awareness technology applied to dimming lighting control system. 2) The system shows 96.6% and 82.8% energy saving rates, respectively, on the basis of one user, compared to an on/off lighting control and the user and location awareness technology applied to on/off lighting control system. 3) The energy consumption of the user and location awareness technology applied to on/off lighting control system and the user and location awareness technology applied to dimming lighting control system increased to 96.6%, 88.3%, and 59.6% and 82.8%, 85.0%, 51.5%, respectively, on the basis of one, two, and three users, compared to the on/off lighting control system. This study confirmed the energy saving performance of the user and location awareness technology applied to the dimming lighting control system through performance evaluation. In this regard, further study needs to be undertaken to evaluate the performance at night time.

RF Power Detector for Location Sensing

  • Recently, RFID has become popular in the field of remote sensing applications. Location awareness is one of the most important keys to deploying RFID for advanced object tracking. Generally, multiple reference RF stations or additional sensors are used for the location sensing with RFID, but, particularly in indoor environments, spatial layout and cost problems limit the applicability of those approaches. In this paper, we propose a novel method for location sensing with active RFID systems not requiring the need for reference stations or additional sensors. The system triangulates the position of RF signal source using the signal pattern of the loop antenna connected to the power detector. The power detector consists of a signal strength detector and a signal analysis unit. The signal analysis unit indicates the signal strength and serial number using the signal from the strength detector, and provides the direction of the signal to the application target. We designed three different signal analysis units depending on the threshold type. The developed system can sense the direction to the transponder located over 10 m away within the maximum error of $5^{\circ}$. It falls within a reasonable range in our normal office environment.

조망 대상 위치에 따른 아파트 단위세대 조망 경관 선호 특성 분석 (Preference Analysis of the View in an Apartment Unit according to the Location of View Target)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristic of each view in an apartment unit in terms of the quality. This study was accomplished by two research methods; the field survey on 181 apartment complexes in Daegu, and the preference evaluation on 24 cases sampled in the sense of its location, i.e. inside or outside of a complex. In the field survey, view targets were categorized into various items such as a building, a road, a mountain, a tree, another apartment, the sky, and so on, and the characteristics of the distance from a viewer to view targets and view of the level in an apartment were analyzed. In the preference evaluation, 24 cases, each one has one of the follows; the natural view, the artificial view, and the combined view of the both, were chosen and those were evaluated by 167 interviewees. As a result, the conclusions from the study were drawn as follows; 1) The view, the combination of buildings, roads, mountains, trees, apartments, and the sky, is usually seen in an apartment unit. 2) The type of view target is more significant to a person than its location. 3) The natural and combined view are preferred to the artificial one. 4) In the case of the same outside view, a person likes the open view more than the somewhat covered one.

Estimation of the half-logistic distribution based on multiply Type I hybrid censored sample

  • In this paper, we consider maximum likelihood estimators of the location and scale parameters for the half-logistic distribution when samples are multiply Type I hybrid censored. The scale parameter is estimated by approximate maximum likelihood estimation methods using two different Taylor series expansion types ($\hat{\sigma}_I$, $\hat{\sigma}_{II}$). We compare the estimators in the sense of the root mean square error (RMSE). The simulation procedure is repeated 10,000 times for the sample size n=20 and 40 and various censored schemes. The approximate MLE of the second type is better than that of the first type in the sense of the RMSE. Further an illustrative example with the real data is presented.

  • In this paper, we derive the approximate maximum likelihood estimators of the scale parameter and location parameter of the exponential distribution based on multiply Type-II censored samples. We compare the proposed estimators in the sense of the mean squared error for various censored samples. We also obtain the approximate maximum likelihood estimator (AMLE) of the reliability function by using the proposed estimators. And then we compare the proposed estimators in the sense of the mean squared error.

광주폴리의 입지 및 공간적 특성에 관한 조사 연구 (A Study on the Location and Spatial Characteristics of Gwangju Folly)

  • Gwangju Metropolitan City has implemented a creative regeneration project of Gwangju Folly in the site of Gwangju-eup Fortress as part of the Gwangju Design Biennale by inviting well-known international architects. This study examined and analyzed the characteristics of location, place, and space through actual survey. The results were as follows. Gwangju Folly were mainly located at the four gates and corners of Gwangju-eup Fortress, main entrances of Asia Culture Complex, and historical places where the May 18 Democratization Movement occurred. The common place of Gwangju Folly was a footpath and common location types were the full location of footpath width and the partial location of footpath width. For the spatial types of Gwangju Folly, the practical type which people can stay was the most common(2/3). In the partial location of footpath width, the type which people take a rest and look out over the surroundings accounted for a half. In the full location of footpath width, the gate type which people pass accounted for 2/5. However, as footpath width was minimum for walking, both partial and full occupation types were narrow in place. It influenced the image of Gwangju Folly. Gwangju Folly did not play as a figure and show architects' intentions clearly because of their narrow locations. Therefore, it is very necessary to make a plan to maintain places so that Gwangju Folly do not have a cramped image and architects' intentions become clear with citizens' cultural competence. Also, urban property which creates the identity and attraction of Gwangju continuously should be settled down through helping citizens recognize the intention and value of artistic works.

Statistical Inference for Peakedness Ordering Between Two Distributions

  • The concept of dispersion is intrinsic to the theory and practice of statistics. A formulation of the concept of dispersion can be obtained by comparing the probability of intervals centered about a location parameter, which is peakedness ordering introduced first by Birnbaum (1948). We consider statistical inference concerning peakedness ordering between two arbitrary distributions. We propose nonparametric maximum likelihood estimator of two distributions under peakedness ordering and a likelihood ratio test for equality of dispersion in the sense of peakedness ordering.
