  • Purpose: The study was to identify the level of Spiritual Health and Fatigue in women with breast cancer according to three treatment phases (post op phase, adjuvant phase, follow up phase). Methods: The research method was a cross-sectional descriptive study. Data were collected from 161 women patients with a diagnosis of breast cancer. Both in-patient and out-patient units from two general hospitals were the source of subjects. The subjects completed two standardized instruments: the "Spiritual Health Scale" developed by Highfield and the "Fatigue Scale" developed and revised by Piper. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, ${\chi}^2$, ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and Multiple regression. Results: The subscale scores of Self-Esteem of spiritual health and fatigue in patients with breast cancer differed among the three treatment phases (F=3.14, p= .046; F=3.31, p= .039). Significant correlations were found between spiritual health and fatigue. The variables which explained 29% of the variance in fatigue in breast cancer patients were education, religious belief, economic status, and spiritual health. Conclusion: The study results demonstrated that spiritual health significantly explain fatigue. It is needed to develop nursing interventions to improve the spiritual health of breast cancer patients to manage fatigue according to treatment phases.

The results were as follows: 1. In a validity of linkage of nursing diagnosis and nursing interventions classification, the highest score is in 'Chronic low self esteem'(4.66), the lowest score is in 'sensory/Perceptual alterations; Auditory'(3.34) and the average validity score of the total items is 4.27. 2. There was significant differences by educational level and experience in validity score. 3. The nurses who have master degree have higher score than bachelor degree in the diagnoses; 'fatigue', 'health seeking behaviors', 'nutrition: potential for more than body requirements, altered', 'powerlessness'. 4. The nurses with experience over 20 years have higher validity score than less 15 years in 'breast-feeding, effective'. In conclusion, this research indicates that the linkage of NANDA diagnoses and NIC with high validity score can be applied to nursing practice in Korea. And further studies of nursing intervention are needed in Korean culture.

This study is based on the survey data which were conducted among dental technicians engaged in the dental technical places in Daegu area from March 1, 2003, to March 31, 2003. Three hundreds and twenty questionnaires were distributed and 304 of them were collected. Among them 293 questionnaires were eventually used for the statistical analysis. Descriptive and regression analysis were introduced, and in which 12 independent variables and one dependent variable were included. The results of this study are as follows: Approximately 50 percent of the dental technicians in Daegu expressed that they were satisfied with their job, while about 20 percent of them were not satisfied with their job. According to the multiple regression analysis, work environment($\beta$,=0.216), human relationship($\beta$,=0.405), and self-esteem($\beta$,=0.156) have statistically significant positive effects on job satisfaction. On the other hand, conflicts caused in the process of carrying out their jobs have statistically a significant negative effect($\beta$,=-0.166) on job satisfaction. Among 12 independent variables, human relationship has the strongest effect($\beta$,=0.405) on job-satisfaction and 12 independent variables explains approximately 35 percent of variance in the job-satisfaction of dental technicians in Daegu. In conclusion, with regard to the improvement for the job-satisfaction of dental technicians, the association of dental technicians' active concern and long-term plans are necessary. Finally, some suggestions for the increase of the level of job satisfaction of dental technicians are introduced and discussed.

This study compared care satisfaction of 481 children in residential care centers, group homes, and foster homes for five years. Futhermore, factors that predict care satisfaction of the children were identified using multi-level modeling analyses. As results, this study found that care satisfaction of children in group homes was the higher than that in foster homes and residential care centers. In addition, self-esteem, social support, and types of out-of-home services were identified as significant predictors of changes in care satisfaction. • This study attempted to research the local food of various regions at a personal level by discovering how food has developed das part of a region's culture base. Discovery of the characteristic story behind the making of a region's characteristic food as local delicacies can inspire self-esteem in the culture, and enhance the real-life image as appropriate to a region, and thereby be made a part of local tourism and thus contributing to the local economy. For this reason, the native foods of the region of Chungcheongnam-do were researched in terms of the cultural sensibilities that inform the unique history of that region. The study was designed so as to aid in understanding food's characteristic value in Chungcheongnam-do and to give a historical representation of Chungcheongnam-do's image by means of storytelling techniques; thus, the local food's character can be presented alongside a story that appeals to the five senses. For this purpose, Chungcheongnam-do's representative native rice table was cast as the 'Hyunchoong rice meal table' - after the figure of admiral Yi Sun Shin of Asan area region, a representative image of Chungcheongnam-do - and 'Choosa rice meal table', after the figure of 'Choosa' Kim Jeong Hee of Yesan region, of which various literary works form a representative image of Chungcheongnam-do. 'Hyunchoong rice meal table' was composed of a health food centered menu which could supply sufficient nutrition as a food ration in times of war or winter shortage, thus providing an image of nutrition and power as appropriate to these situations. Also, to assess the health effectiveness of each rice table, the functionality of the ingredients were investigated as reported in 'Sik-ryo-chan-yo : a dietary treatment' which was published by Soon-Ui Cheon in the Chosun era and by which the foods of the early Chosun era won recognition as being both healthy profitable.

  • This study analyzes the effect of poverty on child development outcomes including academic achievement, self-esteem, depression/anxiety, attention problems, aggression, and delinquency. The poverty experiences among elementary school children are longitudinally observed during 3 years between the 4th grade and the 6th grade. When development outcomes are compared among persistently poor children, transitory poor children, and non-poor children, academic achievement is found to be significantly different. The analyses of the relationships between the poverty status and developmental trajectories show that academic achievement among non-poor children has improved over time, while the level of poor children's achievement has decreased. The result also shows that problematic behaviors such as attention problems, aggression, delinquency has improved over time among all the children. Yet, the gap between poor and non-poor children has not decreased. The multivariate analyses indicate that the effect of poverty remains statistically significant only for academic achievement after children's individual and familial characteristics are controlled. Past experiences of poverty in addition to the current poverty affect academic achievement and persistent poverty has a stronger effect than transitory poverty on academic achievement, although the findings are not consistent across all the estimated models.
