The Comparison of Consumer Characteristics according to Purchasing Experience of Secondhand Fashion Goods (중고패션제품의 구매경험에 따른 소비자 특성)

  • This study explored the differences in consumer characteristics-consumer self-confidence, attitude toward, trust and purchase intention for secondhand fashion goods, self-confidence in fashion coordination, price sensitivity for fashion product, and environment conservation consciousness-according to purchasing experience of secondhand fashion goods. A set of questionnaire was administered to 400 university students in Daegu from 18 to 28 April 2011. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, frequency, t-tests. Secondhand fashion goods shoppers were 135(37%) and non-shoppers were 230(63%). The difference analysis results between the two groups were as follows. First, in consumer self-confidence, shoppers showed higher than non-shoppers except persuasion knowledge, and there was no difference in marketplace interfaces between the two groups. Second, there were significant differences in attitude toward secondhand fashion goods, trust and purchase intention for secondhand fashion goods between the two groups. Third, shoppers had higher self-confidence in fashion coordination than non-shoppers, but there was no difference in environment conservation consciousness and price sensitivity for fashion product between the two groups. For future study, it is suggested to find out more general characteristics of secondhand fashion goods shoppers covering other age brackets.

Is Health Locus of Control a Modifying Factor in the Health Belief Model for Prediction of Breast Self-Examination?

  • Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in the world. Early detection is necessary to improve outcomes and decrease related costs. The aim of this study was to assess the predictive power of health locus of control as a modifying factor in the Health Belief Model (HBM) for prediction of breast self-examination. Materials and Methods: In this cross- sectional study, 400 women selected through the convenience sampling from health centers. Data were collected using part of the Champion's HBM scale (CHBMS), the Health Locus of Control Scale and a self administered questionnaire. For data analysis by SPSS the independent T test, Chi square test, logistic and linear regression modes were appliedl. Results: The results showed that 10.9% of the participants reported performing BSE regularly. Health locus of control did not act as a predictor of BSE as a modifying factor. In this study, perceived self-efficacy was the strongest predictor of BSE performance (Exp (B) =1.863) with direct effect, while awareness had direct and indirect influence. Conclusions: For increasing BSE, improvement of self-efficacy especially in young women and increasing knowledge about cancer is necessary.

Factors Affecting Radiation Protection Behaviors among Operating Room Nurses (수술실 간호사의 방사선 방어행위의 영향 요인)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to identify knowledge, attitude, environment, and self-efficacy among perioperative nurses in terms of radiation protection and to describe those factors affecting radiation protection behaviors. Methods: The sample was comprised of 128 perioperative nurses who agreed to participate in this descriptive study. Data were collected from a self-administered questionnaire and were analyzed using the t-test, analysis of variance, Mann-whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analyses. Results: Radiation protection behaviors were significantly different by participant's gender, length of career as a perioperative nurse, educational level and prior experience with radiation protection education. Radiation protection behaviors were significantly correlated with radiation protection environment and self-efficacy in terms of radiation protection behaviors. In the multiple linear regression models, radiation protection environment and self-efficacy on radiation protection behaviors were statistically significant predictors of radiation protection behaviors, which accounted for 50.3% of variance in dependent variable. Conclusion: This study concluded that radiation protective environment in operating room is important to promote radiation protective behaviors and radiation safety management program to enhance self-efficacy is highly recommended.

Factors influencing the career preparation behavior of dental hygiene students (치위생(학)과 학생의 진로준비행동에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Objectives: This study examined the professionalism, major satisfaction, self-leadership, and career preparation behavior of dental hygiene students, and examined the factors affecting career preparation behavior. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted among dental hygiene students in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas of Korea, and finally, questionnaires submitted by 190 subjects were analyzed. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 21.0. Results: The average scores for professionalism, major satisfaction, self-leadership, and career preparation behavior among the evaluated subjects were 3.68±0.56, 3.44±0.46, 3.57±0.55, and 3.24±0.52, respectively. Students who answered that their motivation for career preparation according to general characteristics was "because it is a valuable job" showed the highest score of 3.60±0.54 for professionalism (p<0.01) and higher scores for major satisfaction and career preparation behavior (p<0.001). The factors that affected career preparation behavior were self-leadership (p<0.001), major satisfaction (p<0.01), and professional intuition (p<0.01). Conclusions: The study findings showed that groups with higher self-leadership, major satisfaction, and professionalism exhibited more active career preparation behavior. Therefore, various educational programs are needed to improve dental hygiene (academics) and career preparation behavior of students.

Relationships among Personality Preferences, Psychosocial Factors and Dietary Habits of Middle School Students (중학생의 성격유형과 사회심리적 요인 및 식습관과의 관계연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to obtain an understanding of the association of personality preferences and food behavior factors in middle school students. The subjects were 319 boys and girls in a middle school located in Kyunggi province. A self-administered questionnaire was used to assess demographic factors, dietary habits and psychosocial factors including self-efficacy, perceived benefits and barriers. The MMTIC (Murphy-Meisgeier Type Inventory for Children) test was used to assess the personality preferences of the students. Sixty-seven percent of the subjects were extrovert, 53.9% were the sensing type, 76.8% were the feeling type and 81.8% were the perceiving type in personality preferences. The extrovert had higher self-efficacy than the introvert. The feeling type perceived more benefits and fewer barriers than the thinking type. The education levels of the parents, especially mothers, were positively related with self-efficacy and dietary habit scores of the students. The self-efficacy and perceived benefits and barriers were significantly associated with dietary habits of the students (explained variance: 17.9%). Results of this study presented the relationship of character types and parents' education levels on psychosocial food behavior factors and a need for the development of tailored nutrition education program considering these factors.

The Effect of TV Drama Clothing Interest, Fashion Involvement, Self-consciousness Level on PPL (TV드라마 의상관심도, 유행관여도, 자의식 수준이 PPL(Product Placement)효과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how clothing interest, fashion involvement, and self-consciousness affect brand recall, brand attitude and buying intension of the product placed on TV drama. The data were collected using a self-administered and structured questionnaire on subject of 270 middle school students and 260 high school students in Pusan. Frequency analysis, $X^2$-test, t-test, and multiple regression were used to conduct the data analysis on 524 out of 530 questionnaires. Clothing interest and the level of self-consciousness had significant influence on brand recall and emotional brand attitude of the product placed on TV drama. Self-consciousness affected cognitional brand attitude. Moreover, TV drama clothing interest and fashion involvement had a significant influence on buying intension. Therefore, TV drama clothing interest was the main factor which affected brand recall, brand attitude and buying intension of the product placed on TV drama.

  • The purpose of this paper was to investigate the relationships among college students' life stress, self-efficacy, locus of control, and subjective well-being. A total of 279 college students participated in this study. It was administered a questionnaire consisting of questioned of concerning life stress, self-efficacy, locus of control, and subjective well-being. The correlation analysis and the analysis of mediating effect were conducted on the data. The main results of data analysis showed (1) correlations among life stress, self-efficacy, locus of control, and subjective well-being, (2) significant mediating effect of self-efficacy between life stress and subjective well-being. The direction of a further study was suggested.

Adolescence Clothing Behavior as Related to Psychological Characteristics. -Emphasis on Adolescence Egocentrism, Self-Consciousness, Body Cathexis- (남녀 중고등학생의 심리적 특성과 의복행동과의 관계-자아중심성.자의식.신체만족도를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of psychological characteristics-adolescence egocentrism, self-consciousness, body cathexis, and demographic variables on clothing behavior of adolescence. Adolescence egocentrism was measured by Kim's Imaginary Audience scale, and body cathexis, by selected questionnaires of Secord Jourard's Body Cathexis Scale. Buss's self-consciousness scae was slightly modified to assess public and Private self-consciousness, and five aspects of clothing behavior were assessed with the questionnaires from the previous studies dealing with clothing interest, psychological dependence, conformity, exhibition, dressing for others. The questionnaire were administered to 498 middle and high school boys and girls living in Seoul and the data were analyzed by Frquency, Factor Analysis, Pearson's Product Moment Correlation, ANOVA, Multiple Regression Analysis and Duncan test. The results of this study were as follows: 1) There were significant positive correlation between clothing behavior and adolescence egocentrism, self-consciousness whereas body cathexis generally were negatively related to clothing behavior. 2) Public self-consciousness and sex were the most influencial variables to clothing behavior among psychological characteristics and demographic variables. Also adolescence egocentrism was proved to be one of influencing factors on adolescence clothing behavior.

Effects of Academic Self-Efficacy, Metacognition and Major Satisfaction on Learning Flow among Nursing Students (간호대학생의 학업적 자기효능감, 메타인지, 전공만족도가 학습몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate academic self-efficacy, metacognition and major satisfaction which influence learning flow in nursing students. Method: The subjects of this study were 239 nursing students in D college. Structured questionnaire was self-administered from May 3 to 30, 2021. The date was analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson'correlation coefficients, stepwise and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 22.0. program. Results: In academic self-efficacy, there were significant differences in age. In metacognition, there were significant differences in age, school record. There was a statistically positive correlation between learning flow and academic self-efficacy(r=.211, p=.001), metacognition(r=.357, p<.001), major satisfaction(r=.281, p<.001). The factors influencing learning flow were metacognition(t=.682, p<.001), major satisfaction(t=2.147, p=.023)Multiple regression analysis description is 61.2%. Conclusion: To improve the learning outcomes for nursing students, it is necessary to develop teaching program and curriculum for increasing, metacognition and major satisfaction.

Study of the relationship between class satisfaction and self-directed learning with in person and on-line classes: focused on the major classes of the department of dental technician of K university (대면수업과 온라인수업에 따른 수업 만족도와 자기주도 학습능력의 관계: K 대학 치기공학과 전공과목을 대상으로)

  • Purpose: The study aims to analyze differences in the satisfaction level of dental technology students regarding in-person and online classes. It also aims to provide fundamental resources for the improvement of major subject class methods that will improve students' self-directed learning abilities, thereby affecting their class satisfaction. Methods: In this study, a self-administered questionnaire was conducted from November 8 to November 30, 2021, for 256 dental technology students. The collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 21.0 statistical program. Frequency and percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, post-hoc test, correlation analysis, and linear regression analysis were performed to analyze the data. Results: In the self-directed learning abilities, the attitude of the learners was shown to have the highest positive (+) correlation in both in-person and online classes, with a statistically significant effect (p<0.001) on class satisfaction in major subject classes. Moreover, the explanatory power of the model was 52.2% and 39.7%, respectively. Conclusion: We concluded from the study that there is a need for professors to improve teaching methods to increase learners' self-directed learning competence, through problem-based learning, discussion learning, team-based collaborative learning, and mentor-mentee learning, thereby enabling learners to lead classes themselves.
