Improvement of Screening System of Self-initiated Learning in Self-governing High Schools (자율형 고등학교의 자기주도적 학습전형 운영 실태와 개선방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore improving ways of screening of self-directed learning in self-governing high schools for expanding self-initiated learning screening system. To achieve the above aim, it was used survey method to 99 admission teachers of 12 self-governing high schools and analyzed responses with SPSS program. The research findings are as follows. To expand self-initiated learning screening system in self-governing high schools, it needs to obtain admission members of entrance committee, pooling of external screening members, quick decision of school admission members, increasing payment, training and understanding of the system and consideration of admission documents and study plan. Some improving ways of the expanding of self-initiated learning screening may be listed as follows: 1) development of screening model for self-governing schools 2) policy consideration for self-governing public high school 3) expanding autonomy of school 4) supporting budget 5) sharing of operation case and reinforcement of public relations.

Mediation Effects of Self regulation and Hopelessness between Self efficacy and Internet game addiction in Middle School Students (중학생의 자기 효능감과 인터넷게임 중독 간의 관계에서 자기 조절력, 무망감의 매개효과 검증)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted in order to examine the multiple mediated effects of self-regulation and hopelessness between self efficacy and internet game addiction in middle school students. Methods: The participants were 458 middle school students in G City, South Korea. Multiple mediation was analyzed using Indirect SPSS macro and the bootstrapping method. Results: Significant negative correlations were observed for internet game addiction, self-efficacy, and self-regulation. Self-efficacy and self-regulation were positively correlated. Self-efficacy showed a direct effect on Internet game addiction. The results of the indirect effects of all mediators showed the mediated effect of self-regulation (estimated effect=-.11, 95% CI[-.20, -.03]) and hopelessness(estimated effect=-.06, 95% CI[-.12, -.01]). Conclusion: Based on these study results, we suggest that self-efficacy should be examined to prevent development of Internet game addiction in middle school students. It is necessary to provide Internet game addiction preventive programs focusing on changing the self-regulation and relieving the feelings of hopelessness.

The Effect of a Community-Based Selp-Help Management Program for Patients with Diabetes Mellitus (당뇨병 환자를 위한 지역사회 중심 자조관리 프로그램의 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was done to assess the effects of a self-help intervention on clinical, lifestyle and psycho-social outcomes in patients with Type II diabetes. Methods: Eligible adults with Type II diabetes were randomly assigned to either the intervention group receiving the diabetes self-help or the control group receiving usual care. Of the 36 patients who completed the study, 15 were in the intervention group and 21 were in the control group. The self-help group consisted of six weekly sessions covering aspects of diabetes self-care and using continuing education, discussion, and structured social activities. Outcomes included changes in glycemic control, knowledge, self-management behaviors, diabetes-related self-efficacy, and health-related quality of life. Analysis of covariance was used to compare outcomes between the groups, adjusting for baseline measures. Results: After the six week intervention, significant improvements from the baseline were observed in the measurements of self-management behaviors, diabetes-related self-efficacy, and health-related quality of life for the intervention group. Conclusion: The findings provide preliminary evidence that a diabetes self-help group intervention can benefit diabetes patients in self-management behaviors, diabetes-related self-efficacy, and health-related quality of life. However, larger longitudinal studies are needed to determine the most efficacious self-management methods to sustain long-term glycemic control and psychological well-being.

The Effect of Career Group Counseling Program using Cinema on Self Identity and Career Decision-making Self-efficacy of Adolescent on Probation (영화를 활용한 진로 집단상담 프로그램이 보호관찰 청소년의 자아정체감과 진로결정 자기효능감에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the effect of career group counseling program using cinema for the improving self identity and career decision-making self-efficacy of adolescents on probation. Methods: The subject were 36 (Experimental. 20, Control. 16) adolescents on probation who were referred to N mental health center in G city South Korea, but 2 of the experimental group did not complete the program. The program consisted of 8 sessions and was conducted from November, 2008 to February, 2009. The study variables were 'self identity' and 'career decision-making self-efficacy' surveyed by self-reported questionnaires. Results: Self identity (t=-2.797, p=.005), and career decision-making self-efficacy (t=-3.354, p=.001) changed more significantly in the experimental group than in control group after career group counseling program using cinema. Conclusion: Based on these results, career group counseling program using cinema for adolescents on probation was especially effective in increasing self identity and career decision-making self-efficacy.

The Influence of Self-Efficacy and Self-Esteem of the College Students on Employment Anxiety: Focus on the Moderating Effect of Academic Stress (대학생의 자기효능감과 자존감이 취업 불안감에 미치는 영향: 학업스트레스의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • In this study, we examined the effects of self-efficacy and self-esteem on employment anxiety based on existing prior study and verified the moderating effect of academic stress between self-efficacy and employment anxiety, and moderating effect of academic stress between self-esteem and employment anxiety and the analysis result are as follows. The first result shows that self-efficacy and self-esteem negatively affect employment anxiety. Second, academic stress has not played a role of moderating in the relationship between self-efficacy and employment anxiety. As academic stress increases, employment anxiety increases. However, the regression analysis results confirmed that the academic stress can be an independent variable that explains employment anxiety. Finally, academic stress plays a role of moderating in the relationship between self-esteem and employment anxiety. This means that students with relatively high self-esteem are less likely to have employment anxiety than those who do not, and that increasing academic stress increases the employment anxiety of college students.

Effects of Self-Esteem and Self-Leadership on Career Identity in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자아존중감과 셀프리더십이 진로정체감에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study examined the self-esteem, self-leadership, and career identity of nursing students to identify the influence of self-esteem and self-leadership on career identity. Methods: This study was a descriptive survey of 192 students from six nursing colleges. The descriptive statistics, independent two-sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression analysis were used for statistical analyses. Results: The career identity correlated with self-esteem and self-leadership. A positive correlation was observed between self-leadership and self-esteem. The factors influencing career identity were self-esteem, satisfaction with the major, motivation (aptitude and interest), and desired career after graduation (hospital employment). The explanatory power of these variables was 42.3% in total. Conclusion: To develop a strong career identity for nursing students, it is essential to provide various educational programs that can increase self-esteem, improve awareness of the major, help students understand the roles and responsibilities of nurses, and provide opportunities to explore career options.

Effects of self-care intervention using a mobile instant messenger on hemodialysis patient's knowledge, self-efficacy, self-care behavior and physiological index

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-care intervention using a mobile instant messenger on hemodialysis patient's knowledge, self-efficacy, self-care behavior and physiological indices. Methods: A non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The participants consisted of 38 patients who had a regular hemodialysis of Seoul National University Hospital. They were assigned to one of two groups; an experimental group (n = 19) that had self-care intervention for 8 weeks and a control groups (n = 19) that had routine hemodialysis treatment. The data collection was conducted from September 5, 2022 to October 29, 2022. The date were analyzed by Chi-square test, Independent t-test, and Fisher's exact test using SPSS Win 29 program. Results: There was a significant difference in self-efficacy (t = 3.42, p = .002) between experimental and control groups. There was no significant differences between the two groups in knowledge (t = 0.80, p = .428), self-care behavior (t = 0.09, p = .929), potassium (t = -0.82 p = .416), phosphorus (t = -0.03, p = .974), weight gain (t = 0.16, p = .867). Conclusion: Based on above results, it was verified that self-care intervention in this study was an effective indicator in improving the self-efficacy. There is a requirement to formulate comprehensive interventions capable of enhancing various indicators.

The Influence Factors and Effects of Self-leadership: Focusing on Members of the Hospitals (셀프리더십의 영향요인과 효과: 의료기관 조직구성원을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this empirical study is to investigate the factors of self-leadership depending on individual characteristics, job characteristics, and qualities of leader-member exchange. Additionally, this study aims to discover the effect of self-leadership's outcome factors on organizational citizenship behavior and innovative activities. In order to verify research model and hypothesis, questionnaires were collected from department members working at general hospitals, hospitals, and clinics in metropolitan area of Seoul, which were 85 departments and 344 respondents. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS ver. 19.0 and Amos ver. 18.0 statistical package using Structural Equation Model. The results of the analysis showed that both individual characteristics and job characteristics have significant positive effect on self-leadership. Also, self-leadership had significant positive relationship on innovative action and organizational citizenship behavior. The implications of this study are as follow. First, this study empirically explained how self-leadership is applied in healthcare organizations. Second, it verified the relationship between causal factors and outcome factors of self-leadership. Also, prior researches of self-leadership have been conducted on business companies, but this study explored self-leadership at healthcare organizations, which increased external validity. Nowadays, many people are interested in the effect of leadership in order to overcome issues coming from enlarged organizations and to improve performance. Self-leadership will contribute to maximizing voluntary efforts of human resources and performance in a rapidly changing healthcare industry.

Relationship between Covert Narcissism and Selfie Addiction Proneness: Focused on Mediating Effects of Self-objectification and Self-presentational Motivation (성인 여성의 내현적 자기애와 셀카 중독경향성 간의 관계: 자기대상화 및 자기제시동기의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study examines the mediating effects of learned helplessness and procrastination in the relationship between covert narcissim and selfie addiction proneness among women. The study subjects were 286 women with a mean age of 23.78(SD=4.34) years. The results of the study are as follows. First, there were significantly positive correlations between covert narcissism, self-objectification, self-presentational motivation, and selfie addiction proneness. Second, covert narcissism, self-objectification, self-presentational motivation were significant predictors for selfie addiction proneness and they accounted 25.7% for variance of selfie addiction proneness. Especially, self-presentational motivation accounted for selfie addiction proneness the most. Third, mediating effect analysis showed self-objectification had partial mediation effect on the relation between covert narcissism and selfie addiction proneness and self-presentational motivation had a partial mediating effect on the relation between covert narcissism and selfie addiction proneness. It is significant for this study to define the concept of selfie addiction proneness and understand psychological variables which significantly account for it. Limitations of the study and suggestions for the future studies were discussed.

The Effects of MMORPG User's Stress Coping Strategies on Continued Use Intention Through Self-Control and Behavioral Adaptation (MMORPG 이용자의 스트레스 대처전략이 자기통제감과 행동적 적응을 통해 지속적인 게임 이용의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose Despite the continued rise in the popularity of mobile MMORPGs, the previous studies mainly focused on negative results of playing MMORPG such as violence and game addiction. In addition, previous studies that verified game play motives were not enough to explain user's fundamental motives for MMORPG play. To verify the positive role of playing MMORPG, this study focused on stress coping strategies on continued play MMORPG, and divided factors into two dimensions: escapism and coping with system. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively identify the discriminatory effects of each factor on users' self-control, and the effect of self-constrol and behavioral adapatation on continued use intention for MMORPG. Design/methodology/approach This study was designed to examine the structural relationships among MMORPG users' escapism, system coping, self-control, behavioral adaptation and continued use intention for MMORPG. Findings The results from this study are as follow. First, the participants' effect-based escapism had a positive impact on self-control, whereas cause-based escapism had a negative impact on self-control. Next, proactive coping and reactive coping for system problem had a positive impact on self-control. In addition, Self-control had a positive impact on behavioral adaptation and continued use intention for MMORPG. Lastly, the behavioral adaptation to MMORPG had a positive impact continued use intention. The results of our study can suggest the positive effects of coping strategy on users' self-control and behavioral adaptation by applying the theory of both escapism and coping with system. Based on our results, game companies should develop contents that can gratify users' coping motives and enhance self-control and behavioral adaptation.
