The metal fastening method is the new technology to repair cracks in the casting material using specially designed reverse screws. In this study, we conduct the finite element analysis to analyze the pulling force characteristic of a reverse screw, the core component of the metal fastening method, with respect to the change of the applying torque, frictional coefficient and front screw angle. The simplified analysis model with single screw pitch is proposed for convergency of the non-linear contact analysis. As a results, the pulling force of a reverse screw increase in proportion to the applying torque but exponentially decrease according to frictional coefficient. And also we can find the optimum front screw angle with the largest pulling force is $20^{\circ}$.
Statement of problem. When TiN coating is applied to the abutment screw, occurrence of greater preload and prevention of the screw loosening could be expected due to decrease of frictional resistance. However, the proper thickness of TiN coating on abutment screw has not been yet reported. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to find out the appropriate TiN coating thickness by evaluating the detorque force and the surface change of titanium abutment screw with various TiN coating thickness. Material and methods. 1. Material Thirty five non-coated abutment screws were prepared for TiN coating. TiN coatings were prepared by Arc ion plating method. Depending on the coating deposition time(CDT), experimental groups were divided into 6 groups(CDT 30min, 60min, 90min, 120min, 150min, 180min) and those of 1 group was not coated as a control group. Each group was made up of 5 abutment screws. 2. Methods FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscoper) and EDX(Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy) were used to observe the surface of the abutment screw. Electric scales was used to measure the weight of the abutment screw after the repeated closing and opening of 10 trials. Detorque force was measured with digital torque gauge, at each trial. Results. 1. As the coating deposition time increased, the surface became more consistent and smooth. 2. As for the abutment screws that were TiN coated for more than 60 minutes, no surface change was found after the repeated closing and opening. 3. The TiN coated abutment screws showed less weight change than the non-coated abutment screws. 4. The TiN coated abutment screws showed higher mean detorque force than the noncoated abutment screws. 5. The abutment screw coated for 60 minutes showed the highest mean detorque force. Conclusion. The coating layer of proper thickness is demanded to obtain consistent and smooth coating surface, resistance to wear, and increased detorque force of the abutment screw. In conclusion, the coating deposition time of 60 minutes indicated improved mechanical property, when TiN coating was conducted on titanium abutment screw.

Recent trends in the miniaturization and weight reduction of portable electronic parts have driven the use of subminiature screws with a micrometer-scale pitch. As both screw length and pitch decrease in subminiature screws, the resulting clamping force becomes diminishes. In this work, Finite element (FE) analysis is performed to evaluate clamping force of a screw assembly, with a comparison with experimental result. To improve clamping force of subminiature screws, a new screw design is considered by modifying screw thread angle: the thread angle is varied as an asymmetric way unlike the conventional symmetric thread angle. FE analyses are then performed to compare the clamping characteristics of each subminiature screw with different thread angle. The effect of thread angles on the clamping force is then discussed in terms of structural safety for both positive and negative screws.
Objectives: The introduction of nickel-titanium alloy endodontic instruments has greatly simplified shaping the root canal systems. However, these new instruments have several unexpected disadvantages. One of these is tendency to screw into the canal. In this study, the influence of taper on the screw-in effect of the Ni-Ti rotary instrument were evaluated. Materials and Methods: A total of 20 simulated root canals with an S-shaped curvature in clear resin blocks were divided into two groups. ProFile .02, .04, .06 (Dentsply-Maillefer) and GT rotary files .08, .10, .12 (Dentsply) were used in Profile group, and K3 .04, .06, .08, .10, and .12 (SybronEndo, Glendora) were used in K3 group. Files were used with a single pecking motion at a constant speed of 300 rpm. A special device was made to measure the force of screw-in effect. A dynamometer of the device recorded the screwin force during simulated canal preparation and the recorded data was stored in computer with designed software. The data were subjected to one-way ANOVA and Tukey's multiple range test for post-hoc test. p value of less than 0.05 was regarded significant. Results: The more tapered instruments generated more screw-in forces in Profile group (p < 0.05). In K3 group, 0.08, 0.10. and 0.12 tapered instruments showed more screw-in force than 0.04 tapered one, and 0.08 and 0.12 tapered instruments showed more screw-in force than 0.06 tapered one (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The more tapered instruments seems to produce more screw-in force. To avoid this screw-in force during instrumentation, more attention may be needed when using more tapered instruments.

In this study, we compare the performance of the screw through the Clamping force of the test materials to change shape and structure, one of the ways to maintain and improve the engaging force to cope with the miniaturization of the fastener threads are further thinner and lighter precision way that can improve the fastening force of the screw results were as follows. The clamping force according to the materials was $7.57N{\cdot}cm$ in SUS XM7 and SWCH18A was $5.97N{\cdot}cm$. This result was to be found to average 13.5% high in the Clamping force of SUS XM7 materials. In the case of the clamping force of the screw thread shape change, the clamping force of symmetrical and asymmetrical thread was $6.78N{\cdot}cm$ and $7.57N{\cdot}cm$. The clamping force of the asymmetrical thread showed an average high of 11.6%.
This study aimed at conducting a flow analysis of the pressure distribution, discharge flow rate, and consequent thrust force according to the rotational speed of a three-dimensional screw propeller, and then investigating the effect of the rotational speed on the characteristics of the screw propeller by varying the relevant speed (3200, 2400, 1600, 800 rpm). In particular, the computational domain was considered by the analysis in the blades and outlet chamber, using boundary conditions. The difference between the minimum and maximum pressures was 5.5 MPa under the given conditions. The discharge flow rate at this pressure difference was on the level of 1956.67 kg/s, as a thrust force of 47083.7 T(N) was obtained. This study showed that the discharge flow rate linearly increased with the rotational speed, proportional to the RPM, while the thrust force was gradually and steadily increased with the relevant speed. In addition, it was proved that the occurrence of cavitation under the given conditions was closely related to the decrease in the durability of the screw propeller because the thrust force depends on the speed.
Objectives: Nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) rotary instruments have some unexpected disadvantages including the tendency to screw-in to the canal. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of root canal curvatures on the screw-in effect of Ni-Ti rotary files. Materials and Methods: A total of 80 simulated root canals in clear resin blocks were used in the study. Canals with curvature of 0, 10, 20 and 30 degrees were instrumented with ProTaper instruments SX, S1, S2 and a ProFile of #25/0.06 to 1.0-2.0 mm beyond the initial point of root curvature. The screw-in force was measured with a specially designed device while canal was instrumented with a ProFile of #30/0.06 at a constant speed of 300 rpm. The data were subjected to one-way ANOVA and Scheffe multiple range test for post-hoc test. Results: Larger degree of canal curvature generated significantly lesser screw-in forces in all groups (p < 0.001). Conclusions: More attention needs to be paid when using rotary instruments in canals with less curvature than canals with more curvatures to prevent or reduce any accidental overinstrumentation.

In this paper, the separation force measuring system is developed. The separation force aries due to adhesive strength between semiconductor epoxy molding compound(EMC) and the metal plate in semiconductor formed plate. In general, when removing the metal plate in semiconductor formed plate from semiconductor epoxy molding compound, excessive strength can result in a increase in semiconductor defect rates, or conversely, if too little force is exerted on the metal plate in semiconductor formed plate, the semiconductor production rates can decrease. In this study, the design criteria for the selection of the AC servo motor, the role of the ball screw, the relationship between the load cell and the ball screw, and the rate of deceleration are given. In addition, minimizing the reject rate of semiconductors and maximizing the semiconductor production rate are achieved through the standardization of the collected separation force data measured by the proposed system.

In order to achieve high precision machine tools, Performance enhancement of feed drive systems is required. One of the important technical issues is how to decrease thermal expansion of ball screw in proportion to the increase of machining speed. When measuring force of stretch of ball screw, since not only actual expansion and the value of bending have to be considered, it is impossible to define the exact value of expansion. In addition, support bearings of ball screw gain considerable force in axial direction. It also generates thermal expansion on the ball screw, and deteriorates the performances of the hearings. In conclusion, it is impossible to give the pretension enough to absorb all the elongation due to thermal expansion generated during machine is running. If given bed column and saddle are all bent to chance machine accuracy, and the support bearings of ball screw is damaged.

In this study, we carried out the finite element analysis for the screw of centrifuge that is the weakest part of the centrifuge for sewage management. Centrifugal force caused by rotation with velocity of 4000rpm was applied at the screw. Structural analysis was done with respect to the change of the ratio of blade pitch($R_P$), shaft diameter($R_D$) and extended hole($R_E$). When the area of circular hole is equal to that of extended holes, maximum equivalent stresses in the screw with circular and extended circular hole were compared. And then natural frequency analysis was executed for the same model. Three mode shapes were used to explain the vibration characteristics of each screw. Convergence study was accomplished fur more accurate results.
