This study was aimed to compare and investigate the difference of academic self-concept and social self-concept between multicultural children and general children. The data were collected from a total of 285 multicultural children and 223 general children in elementary school, during three months from February 20, 2014 to May 20, 2014. Collected data were analyzed using t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and enter multiple regression with the SPSS 23.0 program. Multicultural children showed lower scores in academic and social self-concept, parents attachment, social support, and school life adaptation than general children. And their mental health level was lower than the general children. The study results were that academic self-concept of multicultural children was influenced by learning activity (${\beta}$=.298), social maladaptation (${\beta}$=-.218), communication (${\beta}$=-.196), and confidence (${\beta}$=.167), which explained for 42.4% of academic self-concept. Social self-concept of multicultural children was influenced by support from friend (${\beta}$=.285), peer relation(${\beta}$=.187), social maladaptation (${\beta}$=-.172), and depression (${\beta}$=-.139). which explained for 46.3% of social self-concept. Since the influence factors of academic and social self-concept of general children and multicultural children have a great power of explanation, they can be used for the intervention program enhancing self-concept for school aged children.
This study aims to identify the nutrition knowledge, attitude on dietary life and eating habits of 281 high school students in Bucheon area and investigate difference and correlation among the factors: details of nutrition knowledge, attitude on dietary life, dietary habit, meal manager and the Body mass index(BMI). Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, $\chi^2$-test, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and ANOVA test using SPSS window program. The results show that parents were the most influential group in dietary habits and the group of friends were followed. The nutrition knowledge score of female students was higher than the score of male students. There was a significant difference between nutrition knowledge and attitude on dietary life by meal manager. Especially, nutrition knowledge showed the highest difference when they answered that the meal manager was a mother, and the subject 'eating regular meals' was significant when the meal manager was his/her mother. According to the result of the difference by meal manager, respondents preferred eating snacks the most when father was in charge of meal preparing. This group also preferred eating out than the other groups. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between nutrition knowledge and attitude on dietary life.
The aim of treatment of cleft lip and palate is to correct the cleft and associated problems surgically and thus hide the anomaly so that patients can lead normal lives. This correction involves surgically producing a face that does not attract attention, a vocal apparatus that permits intelligible speech, and a dentition that allows optimal function and esthetics. In neonatal periods, gross distortion of tissues surrounding the cleft requires considerable effort and time due to post operative functional defect and scarring and induces milk feeding problem, malocclusion of deciduous or permanent dentition, congenital missing teeth, skeletal dysplasia. The occurrence of a cleft deformity is a source of considerable shock to the parents of an afflicted baby, and the most appropriate approach is very important things. Thus we tried to analysis of dental arch, shape and size of deformity in cleft patients. The results were obtained as follows. 1. When the cast measurements of UCLP subjects at first visit it was found that the mean length was 9.29mm at the alveolar cleft width, also that was 11.7mm at the anterior width and 14mm at the posterior cleft width. 2. Comparison of UCLP group at first visit and just lip surgery, it was found that the older group showed a insignificant reduction in the width of the cleft in the alveolar, canine, and tuberosity regions. 3. The maxillary casts of the UCLP group at 6 months differ Significantly from those of the at 3 months in both length and width. but there was no statistical difference except anterior ridge length of nonclefted site. 4. Comparison at 6 months and 18 months, there was a greater change in length of the alveolar cleft width, intercanine width, and anterior cleft width. Maxillary arch became wider at both the canine region and intertuberosity region. also posterior anteroposterior length was increased but anterior AP length was decreased from 8.1mm to 7.7mm. There was meaningful increase at intertuberosity length; however, a significant reduction in width t-t'

The objective of this study is to find the improvement in the dental health care of the children through oral hygiene education and TBI. In Taebaek public health care center, an oral hygiene education, TBI and fluoride gel application was conducted 2 times for about 631 preschool children living in Taebaek City. The ages of preschool children were from 4 to 7. To examine the changes, a questionnaire was written and distributed for the collecting the results after the education of the second half for children, parents and teachers. As a result, the children showed better understanding of the caries through oral hygiene education and reduction of fright and fears for dental treatment. Many children learned how to brush and there was a significant increase in the number of brushing. Children learned to be able to classify good food and bad food for teeth and showed the change in eating habits although in small part through the oral hygiene education. Through this study, it is judged that the oral hygiene education of the preschool children has effectiveness and it is in need for the expansion of oral hygiene education in homes, kindergartens and dental offices.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the home connected praise and encouragement program which it affects the interpersonal relationships and subjective well-being of elementary children. To achieve this purpose, 58 fifth grade students were measured based on the interpersonal relationships and subjective well-being scale. Then 29 students were placed in the experimental group while the other 29 children were placed in the control group. The experimental group participated in home connected praise and encouragement program, the control group didn't. The quantitative analysis results verifying the effects of the program were as follows: The experimental group treated by the home connected praise and encouragement program showed significant improvement in interpersonal relationships and subjective well-being compared to the control group. Follows are results from qualitative analysis. First, children have increased positive personal relations with companion, parents, teacher, and improved closeness with family by the home connected praise and encouragement program. Second, children have increased edification of self-confidence, satisfaction in school and home by them. These results supported our hypothesis that the home connected praise and encouragement program effectively improved interpersonal relationships and subjective well-being of elementary school children.
The study purpose was to examine weight control status and related factors among 370 high school girls in Seoul. Factors examined included interest toward weight control, body satisfaction, body image, beliefs regarding weight control and self-efficacy. $65.1\%$ had attempted to control weight and were categorized into attempt group. Those in the attempt group had higher body weight (p < 0.001) and BMI (p < 0.001) than the counterparts. They tried to control weight 2.9 times on average (22.4 days each time). The major information sources for weight control were internet ($62.8\%$), and TV/radio ($17.1\%$). Exercise was most commonly used for weight control, followed by reducing meal amount and skipping dinner. The attempt group was less satisfied with body size (p < 0.001) and perceived their body size as heavier than the counterparts (p < 0.001), but they showed more interest toward weight control (p < 0.001). The ideal body size of society or the body size that they want was very thin in both groups. Twelve out of 20 beliefs regarding weight control were significantly different between the two groups. The attempt group believed more strongly on the advantages such as increased self-confidence, appearance, attractiveness (p < 0.001) and 'good for making friends' (p < 0.01) In contrast, the attempt group believed less strongly about the disadvantages including harmful effects on health (p < 0.001), parents' dislike, feelings of discouragement (p < 0.01) and becoming (p < 0.05). The attempt group showed lower overall self-efficacy to control overeating (p < 0.05) than the counterparts. Especially, the attempt group felt less control of overeating in situations such as eating-out, after school, when they are with family (p < 0.01) or with friends, when they feel hungry, during examination periods and when others offer food (p < 0.05). This study suggested that weight management education for adolescents include strategies for changing body image and beliefs regarding weight control, as well as increasing self-efficacy to control overeating. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence of obesity and to examine the eating habits of elementary school students in Iksan dity. The study was carried out on 292 students(male: 151, female : 141)in May of 1997. The average height and weight of the subjects were 141 cm and 37kg in males and 142 cm and 36kg in females, which were similar to the average of Chonbuk. A Weight/Length Index(WLI), Broca Index, Rohrer Index(RI), Body Mass Index(BMI) and Waist Hip Ratio(WHR) were used as an obesity index to classify degree of obesity. WLI, Broca Index and RI were proper for judging child obesity and strict judgments were conducted in the order of RI, WLI and Brcoa Index. The subjects were classified as 30.8% underweight, 43.5% normal, 8.2% overweight and 17.5% obese by WLI and there were significant differences between height(p<0.05) and weight(p<0.01) according to obesity degree among the four groups. 50.3% of the boys and 55.3% of the girls are regularly, and the main reason they didn't ate regularly, and the maim reason they didn't eat breakfast(78.4%) was due to lack of time. The frequency of snacks were 1-2 times a week(40.4%), fruits(40.4%) from market and supermarket(68.2%). According to the survey 84.6%, 77.45, 78.1%, 69.9%, 59.9% and 86.6% of subjects didn't eat meat, fish, soysauce, instant food, sugar and seaweed respectively. Seaweed, meat, and soysauce showed low preferences. 69.5% and 74.75 of the subjects drink milk and ate kimchi respectively. By analyzing eating habits according to the degree of obesity, the rate of skipping breakfast(p<0.01), and eating meat or fish(p<0.05) were high in the overweight and obese groups of girls. In the boys case, the rate of not eating food in sugar(p<0.05) was high in the obese group. Obese children need to correct their eating habit. This reasserts the importance of nutrition education in children though teachers, parents, and dietitions. The findings of this study may be applied to nutrition education to ensure better physical fitness for children.
