Studies on utilization of agricultural waste products -Part 3. Separation of phytin from defatted rice bran- (농업부산물(農業副産物)의 이용성향상(利用性向上)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) -제3보(第3報) 탈지미강(脫脂米糠)부터 phytin 분리(分離)-)

  • Defatted rice bran is mixed with diluted acid solution, the mixture is agitated some hrs. at constant temparature. After the mixture is filtered, thus filtrate is obtained. This filtrate is phytin extract solution. (Test-1) The alkali is added to this filtrate and filtered out, then the precipitation of phytin is obtained. (Test-2) At the test-1, the effect of kind of acid, conc. of acid, amount of extract sol'n., time of extraction, temp. of extraction, to the extract amount of phytin is tested. Consequently, the following facts are known. 1. Amount of phytin extract is greater HCI extraction than $H_{2}SO_4$ extraction. 2. At 0.3% HCI, the amount of phytin extract is greatest of all HCl extraction. 3. The sufficient amount of acid solution is 8-10 times of amount of defatted rice bran. 4. The time of extraction at room temperature is sufficient 8-12 hrs. 5. When extract temperature is $20-30^{\circ}C$, the amount of phytin extraction is greater of all temp. 6, When defatted rice bran 20 g is shanken with 160 ml of 0.3% HCl for 10 hr. at room temp., in this case the amount of phytin extract is 11.34% of defatted rice bran, it is 93% of theoretical yield. At the test-2 the effect of kind of precipitation agent, degree of nutralization to the amount of phytin prcipitation is tested. 1. Degree of nut. is best at pH 6.8-7.0. 2. When use of $Ca(OH)_2$ the amount of phytin precipitation is more than use of KOH, NaOH, or $NH_{4}OH$. 3. At pH 6.0-7.2, the solubility of phytin is followed. K-phytate > $NH_{4}-phytate$ > Na-phytate > Ca-phytate 4. When phytin extract solution is nutralized with $Ca(OH)_2$ to pH 7.0, the amount of phytin precipitation is 94.78% of theoretical yield.

Relationships of Changing Social Atmosphere, Lifestyle and Bone Mineral Density in College Students (대학생의 골밀도와 사회분위기 및 생활습관과의 관계)

  • The decrease of bone mineral density gives rise to the outbreak of osteopenia and makes the possibility of a bone fracture. It makes health problems in society. It's very important to prevent osteopenia in advance. Also it's critical to prevent and take care of it in adolescent because it's the most developing period comparing to middle ages because that bone mineral density decreases. There are genetic, physical and enviromental factors that affect bone mineral density. Recently, a lifestyle and eating habits are also changing as the society atmosphere is gradually doing. This study have shown that 134 women and 75 men was chosen and responded to the survey of measuring bone mineral density and investigating a lifestyle. The measure of bone mineral density is to use Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA) and check femoral neck and lumbar spine. Also questionaries was required to pre-made survey about their lifestyles. Analysis of data was done with SPSS program. Multiple regression analysis was used for the relation of bone mineral density, the heigths and BMI. The sample of Groups are checked for drinking, smoking or excercising about differences by t-test. The results of the experiments were; first, there is statistically significant differences in the comparisons between BMD and BMD. But there isn't any special correlation between drinking, smoking and BMD. Secondly, bone mineral density becomes low related to an intake of caffeine. Particularly, this is statically significant on women. Also there is statically significant correlation between femoral neck and quantity of motion for both men and women. Third, there is significant relation between eating habits and bone mineral density on women's lumbar spine. However, there is no significant relation between men's lumbar spine and women's one. Therefore, to prevent osteopenia, it's good to abstain from intaking caffeine within an hour after a meal. In addition, it's helpful to walk or run regularly and have a balanced meal.

  • Global warming and climate change have been caused by combustion of fossil fuels. The greenhouse gases contributed to the rise of temperature between $0.6^{\circ}C$ and $0.9^{\circ}C$ over the past century. Presently, fossil fuels account for about 88% of the commercial energy sources used. In developing countries, fossil fuels are a very attractive energy source because they are available and relatively inexpensive. The environmental problems with fossil fuels have been aggravating stress from already existing factors including acid deposition, urban air pollution, and climate change. In order to control greenhouse gas emissions, particularly CO2, fossil fuels must be replaced by eco-friendly fuels such as biomass. The use of renewable energy sources is becoming increasingly necessary. The biomass resources are the most common form of renewable energy. The conversion of biomass into energy can be achieved in a number of ways. The most common form of converted biomass is pellet fuels as biofuels made from compressed organic matter or biomass. Pellets from lignocellulosic biomass has compared to conventional fuels with a relatively low bulk and energy density and a low degree of homogeneity. Thermal pretreatment technology like torrefaction is applied to improve fuel efficiency of lignocellulosic biomass, i.e., less moisture and oxygen in the product, preferrable grinding properties, storage properties, etc.. During torrefacton, lignocelluosic biomass such as palm kernell shell (PKS) and empty fruit bunch (EFB) was roasted under an oxygen-depleted enviroment at temperature between 200 and $300^{\circ}C$. Low degree of thermal treatment led to the removal of moisture and low molecular volatile matters with low O/C and H/C elemental ratios. The mechanical characteristics of torrefied biomass have also been altered to a brittle and partly hydrophobic materials. Unfortunately, it was much harder to form pellets from torrefied PKS and EFB due to thermal degradation of lignin as a natural binder during torrefaction compared to non-torrefied ones. For easy pelletization of biomass with torrefaction, pellets from PKS and EFB were manufactured before torrefaction, and thereafter they were torrefied at different temperature. Even after torrefaction of pellets from PKS and EFB, their appearance was well preserved with better fuel efficiency than non-torrefied ones. The physical properties of the torrefied pellets largely depended on the torrefaction condition such as reaction time and reaction temperature. Temperature over $250^{\circ}C$ during torrefaction gave a significant impact on the fuel properties of the pellets. In particular, torrefied EFB pellets displayed much faster development of the fuel properties than did torrefied PKS pellets. During torrefaction, extensive carbonization with the increase of fixed carbons, the behavior of thermal degradation of torrefied biomass became significantly different according to the increase of torrefaction temperature. In conclusion, pelletization of PKS and EFB before torrefaction made it much easier to proceed with torrefaction of pellets from PKS and EFB, leading to excellent eco-friendly fuels.

Preparation and Characterization of Physicochemical and Sensory Properties of Hwajeon Added with Wild Grape Extract (머루즙 첨가가 화전의 이화학적.관능적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Wild grape extract (WGE) was added into hwajeon at different concentrations (0, 5, 15, 30, 50% of water). The resulting hwajeon were analyzed for their physicochemical and sensory properties. With increasing concentrations of WGE, the pH of dough and hwajeon decreased, and their degrees brix and color intensity increased, presumably due to the presence of tartaric acid, sugar, and anthocyanin in the WGE. The WGE-enriched hwajeon showed higher hardness, gumminess, and chewiness than control hwajeon, which might have been because the sugar and tartaric acid in the WGE partially inhibited starch gelatinization during heat processing. Nevertheless, all the sensory properties and preference were higher in WGE-enriched hwajeon than controls, which could be partially attributed to the fact of that the WGE-enriched hwajeon retained relatively higher moisture. It is suggested that WGE-enriched hwajeon with high preference could be prepared without loss of hwajeon quality.

  • This study that had been conducted two months by a research team of Pusan National University at the request of Korea Manwha Contents Agency in Dec. 2013 is about the statistical analysis on 'Korean Webtoon DB and its Flow Report' which resulted from the complete survey of Korean webtoons which had been published with payment in official media from early 2000 to 2013. Webtoon which means the cartoons published on web has become a typical type of Korean cartoons and has developed into a main industry since 2000s when traditional published cartoons had declined and social environments had changed. Today, it represents cultural contents in Korea. This study collected the webtoons officially published in media with payment, among Korean webtoons having been published from the early 2000s to Jan. Based on the collected data, it analyzed the general characteristics of webtoons, including cartoonists, the number of cartoons, distribution chart of each media, genre, and publication cycle. According to the data analysis and statistics, a great deal of Korean webtoons are still published in main portal websites, but their platform is being diversified and a webtoon's publication cycle tends to be shortened. In terms of genre, traditional popular genres, such as drama, comic, fantasy, and action, are still popular, and the genres of history, sports, and food are on the rise along with a social trend. Regarding webtoon application, such events as relay webtoon and brand webtoon, and a new type of webtoon featuring PPL commercialism appear. Such phenomena can realize the common profits of cartoonists, media, and ordering bodies, and are various trials to test the possibility of webtoons. In addition, what needs to pay attention on in the expansion of webtoons is increasing webtoons for adults. The study subjects are the webtoons published with payment, excluding free webtoons. However, this study failed to collect the webtoons published on the online websites already closed, and the lost information on cartoonists and their lost webtoons, and it is necessary to conduct a complete survey on all webtoons including free ones. Despite the limitations, this study is meaningful in the points that it categorized and analyzed Korean webtoons accoridng to official media, webtoons, cartoonists, and genres and that it provided a fundamental material to understand the current conditions of webtoons. It is expected that this study will be able to contribute to activating more research on webtoons and producing more supplementary data which will be used for the Korean cartoon industry and academia.

Malgr$\acute{e}$ la haute valeur de ces paysages naturels, ils demeurent peu connus et les analyses $\acute{e}$cotouristiques de la ville de Yeosu et ses environs sont encore incompl$\grave{e}$tes. Par ailleurs, la protection de ces paysages naturels est rendue difficile par la d$\acute{e}$sagr$\acute{e}$gation d$\hat{u}$e aux sels halo$\ddot{i}$des. Cette recherche a pour objet l'$\acute{e}$tude du tourisme physico-$\acute{e}$cologique et sa contribution au d$\acute{e}$veloppement $\acute{e}$conomique d'une r$\acute{e}$gion de Yeosu en Cor$\acute{e}$e du sud. Il y a plusieurs ressources $\acute{e}$cotouristiques sur l'$\hat{i}$le de Sado et dans ses environs: la plage de sable et la falaise de l'$\hat{i}$le de Sado; les traces fossiles de dinosaures, la ripple-mark et la crevasse dans le sol boueux de l'$\hat{i}$le de Joungdo; le tombolo, l'affleurement tufac$\acute{e}$ et le dyke de l'$\hat{i}$le de Silouseom; le trou provoqu$\acute{e}$ par les sels halo$\ddot{i}$des et le dyke de l'$\hat{i}$le de Jangsado; la mer ass$\acute{e}$ch$\acute{e}$e entre l'$\hat{i}$le de Naquek et l'$\hat{i}$le de Choudo. Stabilization/Solidification of Radioactive LiCl-KCl Waste Salt by Using SiO2-Al2O3-P2O5 (SAP) Inorganic Composite: Part 2. The Effect of SAP Composition on Stabilization/Solidification (SiO2-Al2O3-P2O5 (SAP) 무기복합체를 이용한 LiCl-KCl 방사성 폐기물의 안정화/고형화: Part 2. SAP조성에 따른 안정화/고형화특성 변화)

  • Metal chloride waste is generated as a main waste streams in a series of electrolytic processes of a pyrochemical process. Different from carbonate or nitrate salt, metal chloride is not decomposed into oxide and chlorine but it is just vaporized. Also, it has low compatibility with conventional silicate glasses. Our research group adapted the dechlorination approach for the immobilization of waste salt. In this study, the composition of SAP ($SiO_2-Al_2O_3-P_2O_5$) was adjusted to enhance the reactivity and to simplify the solidification process as a subsequent research. The addition of $Fe_2O_3$ into the basic SAP decreased the SAP/Salt ratio in weight from 3 for SAP 1071 to 2.25 for M-SAP( Fe=0.1). The experimental results indicated that the addition of $Fe_2O_3$ increased the reactivity of M-SAP with LiCl-KCl but the reactivity gradually decreased above Fe=0.1. Also, introducing $B_2O_3$ into M-SAP requires no glass binder for the consolidation of reaction products. U-SAP ($SiO_2-Al_2O_3-Fe_2O_3-P_2O_5-B_2O_3$) could effectively dechlorinate the LiCl-KCl waste and its reaction product could be consolidated as a monolithic form without a glass binder. The leaching test result indicated that U-SAP 1071 was more durable than other SAPs wasteform. By using U-SAP, 1 g of waste salt could generated 3~4 g of wasteform for final disposal. The final volume would be about 3~4 times lower than the glass-bonded sodalite. From these results, it could be concluded that the dechlorination approach using U-SAP would be one of prospective methods to manage the volatile waste salt.

Analysis of the Environmental Radiation Dose Measured at the University Located in Suwon City (수원시 소재의 한 대학 내 환경방사선량 측정 분석)

  • The amount of environmental radiation was measured in the indoor(basement) and outdoor(rooftop) of the two buildings of the University (the old building and the new building) in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province. Measuring the environmental radiation dose from the first week of April 2013 to last week of March 2014, Twice a week, one year. The measured results were as follows. 1. The average annual environmental radiation of the two buildings were $0.169727{\mu}Sv/hr$. The lowest value was $0.0760{\mu}Sv/hr$ whereas the highest value was $0.3000{\mu}Sv/hr$. 2. The amount of environmental radiation dose was $0.176373999{\mu}Sv/hr$ in the old building and the amount of environmental radiation dose was $0.163052885{\mu}Sv/hr$ in the new building. The old building environmental radiation dose was higher then the new building. 3. The month of the lowest amount of environmental radiation dose in a year was November resulting in $0.152844{\mu}Sv/hr$ whereas May was found the month of the highest amount of environmental radiation dose showing with $0.197222{\mu}Sv/hr$. 4. The amount of environmental radiation dose in the indoor(basement) was $0.164649{\mu}Sv/hr$ and the amount of environmental radiation dose of the outdoor(rooftop) was $0.174779{\mu}Sv/hr$. And the outdoor(rooftop) was higher than the indoor(basement). 5. Depending on seasonal, the lowest amount of environmental radiation dose was in winter with $0.1632{\mu}Sv/hr$ while spring was the season with the highest amount of environmental radiation dose with $0.183846{\mu}Sv/hr$. The measured amount was high in the order of spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

The Flora of Limestone Area, Mt. Seokbyeong (석회암지대 석병산 일대의 관속식물상)

  • This study was carried out to survey the vascular plants on Mt. Seokbyeongsan (1,055 m) and provide a basis for the conservation and management of plant resources. The vascular plants were surveyed from March to October 2015. The flora on Mt. Seokbyeongsan was classified as follows: 102 families, 295 genera, 454 species, 4 subspecies, 51 varieties, 7 forms, and a total of 516 taxa. Endemic plants included 17 families, 24 genera, 25 species, 1 variety, and a total of 26 taxa. The Korea Forest Service assignment of rare plants, including 21 families, 33 genera, 33 species, 3 varieties, and a total of 36 taxa, was investigated. Moreover, the Ministry of Environment assignment of rare plants, including 13 families, 17 genera, 17 species, 1 variety, and a total of 18 taxa, was investigated. Floristic special plants in the surveyed area were divided into five classes (Classes I-V): 42 taxa of Class I, 26 taxa of Class II, 35 taxa of Class III, 20 taxa of Class IV, and 9 taxa of Class V for a total of 132 taxa. Naturalized plants were 18 taxa, and plants threatened by climate change were 48 taxa.

Analysis of PM2.5 Distribution Contribution using GIS Spatial Interpolation - Focused on Changwon-si Urban Area - (GIS 공간내삽법을 활용한 PM2.5 분포 특성 분석 - 창원시 도시지역을 대상으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the distribution characteristics of spatial and temporal PM2.5 in urban areas of Changwon-si, and to identify the causes of PM2.5 by comparing the characteristics of land-use, and to suggest the direction of reduction measures. As the basic data, the every hour average from September 2017 to August 2018 of Airpro data, which has measurement points in kindergartens, elementary schools, and some middle and high schools in Changwon-si was used. Also, by using IDW method among spatial interpolation methods of GIS, monthly and time-slot distribution maps were constructed, and based on this, spatial and temporal PM2.5 distribution characteristics were confirmed. First, to verify the accuracy of the Airpro data, the correlation with AirKorea data managed by the Ministry of Environment was confirmed. As a result of the analysis, R2 was 0.75~0.86, showing a very high correlation and the data was judged that it was suitable for the study. In the monthly analysis, January was the highest year, and August was the lowest. As a result of analysis by time-slot, The clock-in time at 06-09 was the highest, and the activity time at 09-18 was the lowest. By administrative district, Sangnam-dong, Happo-dong, and Myeonggok-dong were the most severe regions of PM2.5 and Hoeseong-dong was the lowest. As a result of analyzing the land-use characteristics by administrative area, it was confirmed that the ratio of traffic area and commercial area is high in the serious area of PM2.5. In conclusion, the results of this study will be used as basic data to grasp the characteristics of PM2.5 distribution in Changwon-si. Also, it is thought that the severe regions and the direction of establishing reduction measures derived from this study can be used to prepare more effective policies than before.
