  • In this study, we attempted to identify the personality traits that influence one's likelihood to stalk an ex-partner on Facebook. Specifically, we focused on self-concept-related traits, given that the motivations for using social network sites (SNS) are highly associated with the concept of self. These include self-esteem, narcissism, and self-efficacy. To assess these factors, we controlled for extraneous variables while assessing the predictive power of personality traits, such as Facebook usage, length of the relationship, and time since the break-up. The results of a self-administered, web-based survey (N=207) showed that self-esteem, narcissism, and self-efficacy are all traits that can predict the stalking of an ex-partner on Facebook. More specifically, we showed a negative association between self-esteem and one's likelihood to stalk an ex-partner on Facebook, while it showed positive relationships between Facebook stalking and both narcissism and self-efficacy.

  • SNS has been emerged as an effective educational tool in college and many studies on various teaching models and methodologies have been made in order to utilize SNS in education. The purpose of this paper is to empirically investigate the effect of affecting factors of SNS on learner's attitude, intention to re-use and performance in converging college educational environment. Self-efficacy on media usage, educational expectancy, subjective norm, habit, and enjoyment were identified as affecting factors based on prior researches. An empirical analysis was attempted by survey targeting college students. The results of structural equation model using Smart PLS shows that educational expectancy, subjective norm, and enjoyment are significantly related to the learner's attitude on use of SNS in college education, but Self-efficacy on media usage and habit are not. Learner's attitude on SNS in college education was found to be significantly related to the intention to continuous use and performance. This study implicates that using SNS in university class makes learner's attitude positively and finally lead to good performance. The analysis results can provide a guideline of effective strategy for SNS utilization in college education.

  • With wide distribution of smart phones and development of mobile network, social network service (SNS) is displaying remarkable growth rates. Users build new social relations by sharing their interests, which brings surging growth to the SNS based on the combination between the strength of expanding the place for communication and distribution of smart phones featured with easy portability. This study is designed to understand impact factors of SNS on users in Korea and to conduct empirical research on casual relationship between the factors above and the factors affecting personal information behavior through the privacy protection and self-efficacy. In order to accomplish the objective above, the study presented a research model applied with key variables of the Health Belief Model (HBM) predicting behaviors capable of recognizing and preventing individual diseases in the field of health communication. To perform empirical verification on the research model of this study, a survey was conducted upon college students at N university located in Chungcheongnam-do and K university in rural area, who have experiences using the SNS. Through this survey, a total of 186 samples were collected, and path analysis was performed in order to analyze the relationship between the factors. Based on the findings from the survey, first, variables Perceived probability, Perceived severity, Perceived impairment of the HBM, key factors of personal information protection behavior on the SNS, were found to exhibit negative relationship with self-efficacy, and Perceived probability, Perceived benefit, Perceived impairment were found to exhibit negative relationship with privacy protection. But the above, Perceived severity showed positive relationship with privacy protection, and Perceived benefit and self-efficacy also displayed positive relationship. Second, although self-efficacy, a parameter, showed positive relationship with privacy protection, it demonstrated negative relationship with personal information protection behavior. Lastly, privacy protection exhibited positive relationship with personal information protection behavior. By presenting theoretical model reflected with characteristics of prevention based on these findings above unlike previous studies on personal information protection using technologies threatening personal information, this study is to provide theoretical and operational foundation capable of offering explanations how to predict personal information protection behavior on the SNS in the future.

This research is conducted for finding out influencing factors on continuous intention for smart device users. Therefore, the independent variables consist of subjective norm, mobility, playfulness, self-efficacy, and ease of use. The intermediate variables also compose of flow, and user satisfaction and the dependent variables as continuous intention. The result of study shows the following: First, subjective norm, playfulness, self-efficacy and ease of use except mobility have the positive effect on user flow. Second, subjective norm, mobility, playfulness and ease of use except self-efficacy have significantly the positive effect on user satisfaction. Finally, user flow has significantly the positive effect on user satisfaction and continuance intention and a factor of user satisfaction have significantly the positive effect on continuance intention.

  • SNS uses the Internet as its base. It is created in order to achieve communication between the users. Up until now, most previous research were focused on the users of SNS. But, there are still a great deal of people who do not use or discontinuously use SNS. This is because users have natural resistance against SNS when using the service. In this study, time shortage perception, awareness of SNS, self-efficacy, suitability, information quality of SNS, subjective norm and privacy concern are considered as influence factors by previous research. An empirical study for Chinese students and internet users was conducted to identify how these factors influence perceived risk and perceived usefulness, and how this influence to user's resistance. This study can explain the reason why users don't use SNS and resist SNS use.

  • Due to recent growth in IT industry along with the expansion of smartphone, we came to connect to the Internet wherever and whenever we are. However, this causes negative side effects, though. One of them is a rapid increase of the financial crimes such as the Phishing and the SMishing. There have been many on-going researches about crimes such as Phishing and SMishing to protect users. However, the study about sharing knowledge on SNS to prevent such a crime can be hardly found. Based on social identity theory, we conduct the research about factors on SNS users' intention to share the information security knowledge on SNS. As a result, we found that knowledge provision self-efficacy has a significant impact on self-expression. In addition, it also found out self-expression, awareness about information security and the sense of belonging have a significant impact respectively on the intention to share the information security knowledge on SNS. On the other hand, the altruism didn't have a significant impact to the intention to share information security knowledge on SNS. With this research as a starting point, it seems necessary to expand its range to all types of online community in the future for the generalization of the hypotheses.

  • This research intends to find factors to analyze users, non-users, and the relation between how many sites people use and the users' tendencies, in regards of social network services such as Facebook, Twitter, and Cyworld. The major results are as follows: firstly, the user group seems to be composed of people who are younger, have higher self-efficacy, and use smartphones, compared to the non-user group. Secondly, a single-site user group has lower motivation of 'expert search and expression' and a lower degree of personal tendency of innovation (novelty seeking and self-efficacy), compared to multiple-site user group. Thirdly, foreign SNS user groups have a higher degree of personal tendency of innovation and motivation of 'experts search and expression' than the Cyworld user group. On the other hand, the Cyworld user group seems to be affected by reference group in their use, while they have high motivation of 'connection'. In conclusion, there were significant relationships between personality and multiple SNS uses. Also, Cyworld users tended to use it for maintaining established relationships.
