  • There are two methods in inspection diagnosis(望診), the viewing shape(觀形) and the inspecting color(察色). Acquiring proper analysis from viewing shape(觀形) requires several standards of shape that can be compared with. We can identify major defects and flaws of the shape from comparing it with the standards that is defined as very normal shape. Also, It can eventually provide us interpretation of health related meanings of the objective shapes. Those standards need symmetrical and proportional details. In this research, I put some physiognomy and inspection diagnosis related documents, and standards for restorative plastic surgery together to suggest standards on viewing shape diagnosis of nose which is one of the most important spot in facial inspection. It is expected to improve delicacy of Oriental medine's inspection diagnosis, as the result of the comparison between plastic surgery and inspection diagnosis.

  • When a projectile travels at high speed underwater, supercavitating flow arises, in which a huge cavity is generated behind the projectile so that only the nose, i.e., the cavitator, of the projectile is wetted, while the rest of it should be surrounded by the cavity. In that case, the projectile can achieve very high speed due to the reduced drag. Furthermore if the nose of the body is shaped properly, the attendant pressure drag can be maintained at a very low value, so that the overall drag is also reduced dramatically. In this study, shape optimization technique is employed to determine the optimum cavitator shape for minimum drag, given certain operating conditions. Shape optimization technique is also used to solve the potential flow problem for any given cavitator, which is a free boundary value problem having the cavity shape as unknown a priori. Analytical sensitivities are derived for various shape parameters in order to implement a gradient-based optimization algorithm. Simultaneous optimization technique is proposed for efficient cavitator shape optimization, in which the cavity and cavitator shape are determined in a single optimization routine.

  • A series of experimental tests have been performed on a tube beam in which artificial damage is applied in order to address damage detectability using modal analysis. Modal parameters considered are frequency, displacement mode shape and strain mode shape CoMAC(Coordinate Modal Assurance Criterion) and Modal Vector Error have been adopted for presenting the change of displacement mode shape and strain mode shape. It is revealed strain mode shape is the most sensitive to damage.

  • This study presents comparisons between 286 male and female in their 60s in terms of the perception of their body shape. The results were as follows: 1. In the perception of male and female elders in their sixties on their body shape, a larger number of female elders considered that they were fat, short and heavy than male elder did. With regard to satisfaction with the body, male elders appeared to be more satisfied with their bodies than female elders, and both male and female elders were dissatisfied most with their abdomen girth. 2. The satisfaction of male and female elders in their sixties with their body shape appeared to be influenced more by their perception than their measured sizes. They were more satisfied with their body shape when they perceived that they had small girths, they were tall and they had long legs. In addition, female elders were more satisfied with their body shape when they perceived that their thigh girth and ankle girth were large. 3. As for perception on normal body types and fat body types and satisfaction, male elders' satisfaction with their body shape appeared to be less influenced by their body types than female elders'.

  • The screen printing method is much used in the flat panel display field including the LCD, PDP, FED, organic EL, and etc. for forming the high precision micro-pattern. Also A number of studies of screen printing method has been conducted as the method for the cost down through the improvement of productivity. Because of being the dot printing method of the cylindrical shape not being the line printing method like the existing PDP barrier rib and phosphor, the pillar arrays using the screen printing method is deposited in the hemispherical type not being cylindrical shape in the existing printing process conditions. In this paper, the parameters were set on the screen printing device in order to deposit the cross-sectional shape with the cone or trapezoid shape of the pillar in depositing the pillars used the screen printing device for vacuum glazing. The cross-sectional shape slope of the pillar according to the parameters was measured. And analysis the effect of the screen printing process conditions on the cross-sectional shape slope of pillars based upon the result of being measured. The processing conditions were drawn to minimize the cross-sectional shape slope of pillar.

  • An efficient boundary-based technique is developed for addressing shape design sensitivity analysis in supercavitating flow problem. An analytical sensitivity formula in the form of a boundary integral is derived based on the continuum formulation for a general functional defined in potential flow problems. The formula, which is expressed in terms of the boundary solutions and shape variation vectors, can be conveniently used for gradient computation in a variety of shape design in potential flow problems. While the sensitivity can be calculated independent of the analysis means, such as the finite element method (FEM) or the boundary element method (BEM), the FEM is used for the analysis in this study because of its popularity and easy-touse features. The advantage of using a boundary-based method is that the shape variation vectors are needed only on the boundary, not over the whole domain. The boundary shape variation vectors are conveniently computed by using finite perturbations of the shape geometry instead of complex analytical differentiation of the geometry functions. The supercavitating flow problem is chosen to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed methodology. Implementation issues for and optimization procedure are addressed in this flow problem.

  • Shape-from-shading (SFS) or stereo vision algorithms can be utilized to measure the shape of an object with imaging techniques for effective sensing in non-contact measurements. SFS algorithms could reconstruct the 3D information from a 2D image data, offering relatively comprehensive information. Meanwhile, a stereo vision algorithm needs several feature points or lines to extract 3D information from two 2D images. However, to measure the size of an object with a freeform surface, the two algorithms need some additional information, such as boundary conditions and grids, respectively. In this study, a stereo vision scheme using the depth information obtained by shape-from-shading as patterns was proposed to measure the size of an object with a freeform surface. The feasibility of the scheme was proved with an experiment where the images of an object were acquired by a CCD camera at two positions, then processed by SFS, and finally by stereo matching. The experimental results revealed that the proposed scheme could recognize the size and shape of freeform surface fairly well.

  • In this paper, the shape adjustment algorithm of the spoked wheel cable structures with retractable membrane system is studied. The initial tension of the membrane or cable is necessary to form the structure and its value is determined by the design shape. However, due to internal and external environmental influences, its shape may be different from the initial designed shape. In the case of the cable structures covered in this study, tension adjustment is necessary to maintain the designed shape because it influences the tension of the cable depending on the state of the retractable membrane. Therefore, we proposed an adjustment algorithm of an initial shape based on the force method. The effectiveness and validity of the methodology were examined through the applicable cable structures. The results of the shape adjustment analysis of the symmetric spoked wheel cable model were reliable and accurate results were obtained.

  • This study proposes to develop a 3D printed re-entrant(RE) strip by shape memory thermoplastic polyurethane that can be deformed and recovered by thermal stimulation. The most suitable 3D printing infill density condition and temperature condition during shape recovery for mechanical behavior were confirmed. As the poisson's ratio indicated, the higher the recovery temperature, the closer the poisson's ratio to zero and the better the auxetic properties. After recovery testing for five minutes, it appeared that the shape recovery ratio was the highest at 70℃. The temperature range when the shape recovery ratio appeared to be more than 90% was a recovery temperature of more than 50℃ and 60℃ when deformed under a constant load of 100 gf and 300 gf, respectively. This indicated that further deformation occurred after maximum recovery when recovered at a temperature of 80℃, which is above the glass transition temperature range. As for REstrip by infill density, a shape recovery properties of 100% was superior than 50%. Additionally, as the re-entrant structure exhibited a shape recovery ratio of more than 90%, and exhibited auxetic properties. It was confirmed that the infill density condition of 100% and the temperature condition of 70℃ are suitable for REstrips for applying the actuator.
