Evolutionary a1gorithms are well-suited for multi-objective optimization problems involving several, often conflicting objectives. Pareto-based evolutionary algorithms, in particular, have shown better performance than other multi-objective evolutionary algorithms in comparison. However, generalized evolutionary multi-objective optimization algorithms have a weak point, in which the distribution of solutions are not uni-formly distributed onto Pareto optimal front. In this paper, we propose an evolutionary a1gorithm for multi-objective optimization which uses seed individuals in order to overcome weakness of algorithms Published. Seed individual means a solution which is not located in the crowded region on Pareto front. And the idea of our algorithm uses seed individuals for reproducing individuals for next generation. Thus, proposed a1go-rithm takes advantage of local searching effect because new individuals are produced near the seed individual with high probability, and is able to produce comparatively uniform distributed pareto optimal solutions. Simulation results on five testbed problems show that the proposed algo-rithm could produce uniform distributed solutions onto pareto optimal front, and is able to show better convergence compared to NSGA-II on all testbed problems except multi-modal problem.
The purpose of this study was to construct a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network related to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Each protein was ranked and those most associated with OSCC were mined within the network. First, OSCC-related genes were retrieved from the Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM) database. Then they were mapped to their protein identifiers and a seed set of proteins was built. The seed proteins were expanded using the nearest neighbor expansion method to construct a PPI network through the Online Predicated Human Interaction Database (OPHID). The network was verified to be statistically significant, the score of each protein was evaluated by algorithm, then the OSCC-related proteins were ranked. 38 OSCC related seed proteins were expanded to 750 protein pairs. A protein-protein interaction nerwork was then constructed and the 30 top-ranked proteins listed. The four highest-scoring seed proteins were SMAD4, CTNNB1, HRAS, NOTCH1, and four non-seed proteins P53, EP300, SMAD3, SRC were mined using the nearest neighbor expansion method. The methods shown here may facilitate the discovery of important OSCC proteins and guide medical researchers in further pertinent studies.

The differential power attack (DPA)[8] is a very powerful side-channel attack tool against various cryptosystems and the masking method[10] is known to be one of its algorithmic countermeasures. But it is non-trivial to apply the masking method to non-linear functions, especially, to arithmetic adders. This paper proposes simple and efficient masking methods applicable to arithmetic adders. For this purpose, we use the fact that every combinational logic circuit (including the adders) can be decomposed into basic logic gates (AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR, XNOR, NOT) and try to devise efficient masking circuits for these basic gates. The resulting circuits are then applied to the arithmetic adders to get their masking algorithm. As applications, we applied the proposed masking methods to SEED and SHA-1 in hardware.
This dissertation proposes digital video protection algorithm lot moving image based on MPEG. Shuffling-based encryption algorithms using a fixed random shuffling table are quite simple and effective but vulnerable to the chosen plaintext attack. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to change the key used for generation of the shuffling table. However, this may pose a significant burden on the security key management system. A better approach is to generate the shuffling table based on the local feature of an image. In order to withstand the chosen plaintext attack, at first, we propose a interleaving algorithm that is adaptive to the local feature of an image. Secondly, using the multiple shuffling method which is combined interleaving with existing random shuffling method, we encrypted the DPCM processed 8*8 blocks. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm needs only 10% time of SEED encryption algorithm and moreover there is no overhead bit. In video sequence encryption, multiple random shuffling algorithms are used to encrypt the DC and AC coefficients of intra frame, and motion vector encryption and macroblock shuffling are used to encrypt the intra-coded macroblock in predicted frame.
In this paper, a new stream cipher algorithm based on the chaos theory is proposed and is applied to a Web security system. The Web security system is composed of three parts: certificate authority (CA), Web client, and Web server. The Web client and server system include a secure proxy client (SPC) and a secure management server (SMS), respectively, for data encryption and decryption between them. The certificate is implemented based on X.509 and the RSA public key algorithm is utilized for key creation and distribution to certify both the client and server. Once a connection is established between the client and server, outgoing and incoming data are encrypted and decrypted, respectively, using one of the three cipher algorithms: chaos, SEED, and DES. The proposed chaos algorithm outperforms the other two conventional algorithms in processing time and complexity. Thus, the developed Web security system can be widely used in electronic commerce (EC) and Internet banking.

In recent years, there has been an increasing number of studies focused on identifying a set of spreaders to maximize the influence of spreading in complex networks. Although the k-core decomposition can effectively identify the single most influential spreader, selecting a group of nodes that has the largest k-core value as the seeds cannot increase the performance of the influence maximization because the propagation sphere of this group of nodes is overlapped. To overcome this limitation, we propose a neighborhood coreness cover and discount heuristic algorithm named "NCCDH" to identify a set of influential and decentralized seeds. Using this method, a node in the high-order shell with the largest neighborhood coreness and an uncovered status will be selected as the seed in each turn. In addition, the neighbors within the same shell layer of this seed will be covered, and the neighborhood coreness of the neighbors outside the shell layer will be discounted in the subsequent round. The experimental results show that with increases in the spreading probability, the NCCDH outperforms other algorithms in terms of the affected scale and spreading speed under the Susceptible-Infected-Recovered (SIR) and Susceptible-Infected (SI) models. Furthermore, this approach has a superior running time.

As the wireless communication technology developed, the Electric Commerce using a mobile was activated. WPKI was developed in order to guarantee the stability of the Electric Commerce but it is difficult to be ensured for the safe PKI service which is the same at the wire communication in the technical because of restriction of the mobile terminal. In this paper, we propose the authentication system for the electronic financial service which is safe and is effective in consideration of the restrictive characteristic of the mobile terminal. Moreover, the encryption algorithm for the safe electronic signature is proposed. In WPKI, this makes the cross certification of each certificate authority possible. Moreover, a stability was enhanced through the signature authentication using KCDSA and SEED algorithm.

In computer vision, salient object is important to extract the useful information of foreground. With active contour analysis acting as the core in this paper, we propose a bottom-up saliency detection algorithm combining with the Bayesian model and the global color distribution. Under the supports of active contour model, a more accurate foreground can be obtained as a foundation for the Bayesian model and the global color distribution. Furthermore, we establish a contour-based selection mechanism to optimize the global-color distribution, which is an effective revising approach for the Bayesian model as well. To obtain an excellent object contour, we firstly intensify the object region in the source gray-scale image by a seed-based method. The final saliency map can be detected after weighting the color distribution to the Bayesian saliency map, after both of the two components are available. The contribution of this paper is that, comparing the Harris-based convex hull algorithm, the active contour can extract a more accurate and non-convex foreground. Moreover, the global color distribution can solve the saliency-scattered drawback of Bayesian model, by the mutual complementation. According to the detected results, the final saliency maps generated with considering the global color distribution and active contour are much-improved.
This paper presents a study on a high-performance design for a block cipher algorithm implemented on modern many-core graphics processing units (GPUs). The recent emergence of VLSI technology makes it feasible to fabricate multiple processing cores on a single chip and enables general-purpose computation on a GPU (GPGPU). The GPU strategy offers significant performance improvements for all-purpose computation and can be used to support a broad variety of applications, including cryptography. We have proposed an efficient implementation of the encryption/decryption operations of a block cipher algorithm, SEED, on off-the-shelf NVIDIA many-core graphics processors. In a thorough experiment, we achieved high performance that is capable of supporting a high network speed of up to 9.5 Gbps on an NVIDIA GTX285 system (which has 240 processing cores). Our implementation provides up to 4.75 times higher performance in terms of encoding and decoding throughput as compared to the Intel 8-core system.

When the availability of embedded device is considered, combined countermeasure such as first-order masking and hiding countermeasures is quite attractive because the security and efficiency can be provided at the same time. Especially, combined countermeasure can be applied to the confusion and diffusion layers of the first and last rounds in order to provide the efficiency. Also, the middle rounds only employs first-order masking countermeasure or no countermeasure. In this paper, we suggest a novel side channel analysis with low complexity in the output of diffusion layer. In general, the attack target cannot be set to the output of diffusion layer owing to the high complexity. When the diffusion layer of block cipher is composed of AND operations, we show that the attack complexity can be reduced. Here, we consider that the main algorithm is SEED. Then, the attack complexity with $2^{32}$ can be reduced by $2^{16}$ according to the fact that the correlation between the combination of S-box outputs and that of the outputs of diffusion layer. Moreover, compared to the fact that the main target is the output of S-box in general, we demonstrate that the required number of traces can be reduced by 43~98% in terms of simulated traces. Additionally, we show that only 8,000 traces are enough to retrieve the correct key by suggested scheme, although it fails to reveal the correct key when performing the general approach on 100,000 traces in realistic device.
