  • Monolayer $MoS_2$ is energetically most stable when it has a 1H phase, but 1H to 1T phase transition ($1H{\rightarrow}1T$) is easily realized by various ways. Even though magnetic moment is not observed during $1H{\rightarrow}1T$, $0.049{\mu}_B/MoS_2$ is obtained in local 1T phase; 75% 2H and 25% 1T phases are mixed in ($2{\times}2$) supercell. Most magnetic moment is originated from the 1T phase Mo atom in the supercell, while the magnetic moments of other atoms are negligible. As a result, magnetic/non-magnetic boundary is created in the monolayered $MoS_2$. Our result suggests that $MoS_2$ can be applied for spintronics such as a spin transistor.

  • This study was carried out to produce two-flowered seedlings, harvest them early in a greenhouse, and extend the harvest period. This study was carried out to effectively produce the second truss blooming seedlings to harvest tomatoes early and extend the harvest period. For production of the second truss blooming seedlings (one stem), the nutrient solution EC was supplied at 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 dS·m-1, and dynamic management (3.0 → 3.5 → 4.5 dS·m-1). The seedling period was 60 days, which was 20-40 days longer than conventional seedlings, and 10 days longer than the first truss blooming seedlings (cube seedlings). The plant height was 78 and 77 cm in EC 2.5 dS·m-1 and dynamic management respectively, which was shorter than EC 1.5 dS·m-1 with 88 cm. As for the EC in the cube before formulation, dynamic management had the highest EC 5.5 dS·m-1, and the cube supplied with EC 1.5 dS·m-1 had the lowest. The production yield by treatment did not a difference among in the second truss blooming seedlings, but the first truss blooming seedlings showed lower productivity than second truss blooming seedlings. The second truss blooming seedling were harvested 35 days after planting on June 4, the first harvest date, and the first truss blooming were harvested in 42 days on June 11th. There was no difference in plant height and root growth due to bending at frequency planting. In the study on the production of the second truss blooming seedlings (two stem), the nutrient solution EC was supplied under 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 dS·m-1, and dynamic management (3.0 → 3.5 → 4.5 dS·m-1). The seedling period was 90 days, which was 40-50 days longer than conventional seedlings and 10 days longer than the first truss blooming seedlings (cube seedlings). Plant height was 80 and 81 cm in EC 2.0 dS·m-1 and 2.5 dS·m-1 respectively, but was the shortest at 73 cm in dynamic management. EC in the medium increased as the seeding period increased in all treatments. The dynamic management was the highest with EC 5.1 dS·m-1. There was no difference in yield among EC treatments in the second truss blooming seedlings, which had a longer seeding period of about 10 days, produced 15% more than the first truss blooming seedlings. In order to shorten the plant height of the second truss blooming seedlings, it is judged that the most efficient method is increasing the concentration of nutrient solution.

  • (3S,4S)-1-(t-Butoxycarbonylmethyl)-3-[(S)-1-(t-butyldimethylsilyloxy)ethyl]-4-(2-diazo-2-ethoxycarbonyl-1-oxoethyl)-2-azetidinone (14) was prepared from 4-styryl-2-azetidinone 7b via a sequence of reactions involving N-alkylation with bromoacetate, ozonolysis, oxidation, condensation with magnesium ethyl malonate, and diazo transfer reaction. (3S,4S)-3-[(S)-1-(t-Butyldimethylsilyloxy)ethyl]-4-(3-diazo-3-ethoxycarbonyl1-hydroxypropyl)-2-azetidinone (21) was also prepared from 4-formyl-2-azetidinone 5b via a sequence of reactions involving Wittig reaction, 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition with ethoxycarbonylformonitrile oxide, catalytic hydrogenation, and diazotization. However, the final cyclization of 14 or 21 to 1-hydroxycarbapenem or 1-hydroxycarbapenam by treating with $Rh_2(OAc)_4$ was unsuccessful.

Dong-ku1 Taejon 300-100, Korea - The nucleotide sequence of approximately 2.4 kb immediately adjacent to ptsG gene coding for the glucose permease of Brevibacterium ammoniagenes was detennined. A putative open reading frame (ORP) of 1.467 nucleotides encoding a polypeptide of 489 amino acid residues and a TAA stop codon was identified. The deduced amino acid sequence of the ORF product has a high homology with the 30S ribosomal protein S 1 of Mycohacteriwn tuberculosis (83 % ). M leprae (74%), Streptomyces coelicola (77%), and Escherichia coli (40%). suggesting that the predicted product of ORF is a ribosomal protein S 1. The ORF is located at a distance of 266 nucleotides upstream from ptsC gene with a same translational direction.

  • A series of $Sr_{1-x}Ca_xGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$ phosphors have been synthesized by solid-state reaction. The photoluminescence and structural properties of $Sr_{1-x}Ca_xGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$ have been examined. The $Sr_{1-x}Ca_xGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$ phosphors have a strong absorption at 400 nm, which is the emission wavelength of a violet light emitting diode (LED). The emission peaks of $SrGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$are located at 448 nm and 485 nm. The partial replacement of Sr by Ca in $Sr_{1-x}Ca_xGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$ causes a red shift of emission wavelengths. The $Sr_{1-x}Ca_xGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$ can be used as blue emitting phosphors pumped by the violet LED for fabricating the multi-band white LED.

  • In this paper, we study the map projections from pseudo-sphere $S_1^2$ onto the non-lightlike surfaces in the 3-dimensional Lorentzian space, $L^3$, with curvature zero. We show geometrical means and properties of $\mathbb{R}{\times}S_1^1-cylindrical$, $S^1{\times}L-cylindrical$ and $\mathbb{R}{\times}H_0^1-cylindrical$ projections defined on $S_1^2$ to cylinders $\mathbb{R}{\times}S_1^1,\;S^1{\times}L$ and $\mathbb{R}{\times}H_0^1$, respectively, and orthographic and stereographic projections on $S_1^2$ to Lorentzian plane, $L^2$.

  • The aim of this work is to generalize $L_1$-approximation in order to apply them to a discrete approximation. In $L_1$-approximation, we use the norm given by $${\parallel}f{\parallel}_1={\int}{\mid}f{\mid}d{\mu}$$ where ${\mu}$ a non-atomic positive measure. In this paper, we go to the other extreme and consider measure ${\mu}$ which is purely atomic. In fact we shall assume that ${\mu}$ has exactly m atoms. For any ${\ell}$-tuple $b^1,\;{\cdots},\;b^{\ell}{\in}{\mathbb{R}}^m$, we defined the ${\ell}^m_1{w}$-norn, and consider $s^*{\in}S$ such that, for any $b^1,\;{\cdots},\;b^{\ell}{\in}{\mathbb{R}}^m$, $$\array{min&max\\{s{\in}S}&{1{\leq}i{\leq}{\ell}}}\;{\parallel}b^i-s{\parallel}_w$$, where S is a n-dimensional subspace of ${\mathbb{R}}^m$. The $s^*$ is called the Chebyshev center or a discrete simultaneous ${\ell}^m_1$-approximation from the finite dimensional subspace.

  • Let (X, J) be a closed, connected almost complex four-manifold. Let $X_1$ be the complement of an open disc in X and let ${\varepsilon}_1$be the contact structure on the boundary ${\varepsilon}X_1$ which is compatible with a symplectic structure on $X_1$, Then we show that (X, J) is symplectic if and only if the contact structure ${\varepsilon}_1$ on ${\varepsilon}X_1$ is isomorphic to the standard contact structure on the 3-sphere $S^3$ and ${\varepsilon}X_1$is J-concave. Also we show that there is a contact structure ${\varepsilon}_0\ on\ S^2\times\ S^1$which is not strongly symplectically fillable but symplectically fillable, and that $(S^2{\times}S^1,\;{\varepsilon})$ has infinitely many non-diffeomorphic minimal fillings whose restrictions on$\S^2\times\ S^1$are ${\sigma}$ where ${\sigma}$ is the restriction of the standard symplectic structure on $S^2{\times}D^2$.

  • In the theory of hypergeometric functions of one or several variables, a remarkable amount of mathematicians's concern has been given to develop their transformation formulas and summation identities. Here we aim at presenting explicit expressions (in a single form) of the following weighted Appell's function $F_1$: $$(1+2x)^{-a}(1+2z)^{-b}F_1\;\(c,\;a,\;b;\;2c+j;\;\frac{4x}{1+2x},\;\frac{4z}{1+2z}\)\;(j=0,\;{\pm}1,\;{\ldots},\;{\pm}5)$$ in terms of Exton's triple hypergeometric $X_9$. The results are derived with the help of generalizations of Kummer's second theorem very recently provided by Kim et al. A large number of very interesting special cases including Exton's result are also given.
