Exploring Factors Affecting Acceptance Attitudes of Robot-Based Education in Special Education: Based on the Technology Acceptance Model (특수교육에서 로봇활용교육의 수용태도에 영향을 주는 요인 탐색: 기술수용모형을 바탕으로)

  • Factors influencing the attitude towards the use of robot-based instruction in special education are explored using the technology acceptance model (TAM). Their interrelatedness is also analyzed. Research data were obtained via a questionnaire survey of elementary, middle, and high school special education teachers in North Chungcheong Province. The results reveal that three factors influence the attitude towards using robot-based instruction in special education: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and social influence. Of these, perceived usefulness exerts the strongest influence. Perceived ease of use was found to be influenced by personal innovation and social influence, and perceived usefulness is influenced by perceived ease of use and personal innovation. Efforts should be made to induce a receptive attitude towards the use of robot-based instruction among teachers for its stable acceptance.

  • In general, it is this variety of learning methods and teaching tools for embedded software development and deployment training. In this paper, I want to take advantage of the smart robot to learn creative problem-solving methods that are required in embedded software engineering education. It analyzes the effect of creative engineering education with the smart robot and presents for RSPM Engineering Embedded SW teaching methods to improve NCS education. Embedded SW engineering education in a more creative and smart robot, EV3 system was utilized to improve SW programming skills. In this paper, we utilize the EV3 system to the parish through the creative RSPM engineering courses through the survey and analysis of the impact level, interests and program skills and influence in embedded SW engineering education propose for successful embedded software programming skills potential.

The Effects of Robot Programming on the Attitudes toward Robot of Pre-service Teachers' (로봇 프로그래밍이 예비 교사의 로봇에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • In Korea, pre-service teachers' negative attitude toward robots keep them from being applied in schools. To cope with these obstacles, this study examines the change of pre-service teachers' attitude toward robots after adopting robot programming. To prove the program's effect, pre-service teachers were divided into three groups, including each group taking pre-and post-tests. After analyzing the pre-tests, none of the groups showed any difference; however, they did show significant differences in the post-tests. A paired sample t-test was conducted in each group for investigating the change. Those who took ICT and programming education did not show a change. However, those who took robot programming education did show a statistically significant difference.

The Interest of Activity and Learning Contents in SW Education Using Robot: Focused on Hamster Robot (로봇 활용 SW 교육에서 활동 및 학습 내용에 따른 학습자 흥미: 햄스터 로봇을 중심으로)

  • In this paper, we investigated the learners' interest of activity and learning contents in elementary school SW education using robot. In order to achieve the purpose of this paper, SW education using Entry and Hamster robot was conducted to 15 students who was participated in educational program in Youth training center. In addition, we examined mean difference using descriptive statistics. Our results show that students were generally interested in activities related to hamster robots. Further, interest was associated with gender. Specifically, boys were more interested in activities related to axis acceleration sensor and light sensor and girls were more interested in activities related to sound and movement. This paper was investigated students' interest and identify differences depending on gender, and supposed the concrete data that can be used in the school field.

A Study on a Power Transmission Line Mobile Robot for Bundled Conductor Navigation

  • We introduces a mobile robot that can navigate on a power transmission line arranged in bundled conductors. The designs of the proposed robot are performed for navigation on bundled conductors, and the navigation method for bundled conductors and obstacle avoidance are presented. The robot consists of 13 degrees of freedom (DOF) with a symmetrical structure for the left and right parts, including the four wheel joints. The navigation method is designed using a combination of three motion primitives such as linear motion of counterbalancing box, linear motion of robot arm, and rotational motion of wheel part. To examine the performance of the proposed robot, navigation simulations are conducted using $ADAMS^{TM}$. The robot navigations were simulated on obstacle environments that consisted of two- and four-conductor bundles. Based on the simulation results, the performance of the proposed robot was reviewed through the analysis of the trajectories of end-effectors. We confirmed that the proposed robot was capable of achieving optimal navigation on bundled conductors that included obstacles.

A Perception on Pre-service Teacher's Awareness of Robot Programming Education (로봇 프로그래밍 교육에 대한 예비교사의 인식 조사)

  • 본 논문에서는 로봇 프로그래밍 교육에 대한 예비 교사의 인식 조사를 분석하고자 한다. 연구를 위하여 로봇 프로그래밍 교육프로그램과 예비 교사의 인식을 조사하기 위한 서술형 검사 도구를 개발하였다. 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 예비 교사는 프로그래밍 교육에서 로봇이 흥미, 자신감, 성취감을 얻을 수 있다고 말하였고, 문제 해결 활동을 할 수 있다는 점과 직접 구현하면서 만들 수 있다는 점 때문에 이해가 쉽다고 말하였다. 반면에 로봇이 조립과 분해가 어렵고, 비용과 시간이 많이 든다는 점, 부품 관리의 어렵다는 점, 조작이 어렵다는 점때문에 로봇 프로그래밍 교육에 대하여 부정적인 의견을 나타냈다. 이러한 부정적인 의견 때문에 로봇을 수업에 활용하지 않겠다는 예비 교사가 더 많았다. 마지막으로 예비 교사가 로봇 활동은 개별 활동보다 조별 활동을 선호한다고 응답하였다.

Work chain-based inverse kinematics of robot to imitate human motion with Kinect

  • The ability to realize human-motion imitation using robots is closely related to developments in the field of artificial intelligence. However, it is not easy to imitate human motions entirely owing to the physical differences between the human body and robots. In this paper, we propose a work chain-based inverse kinematics to enable a robot to imitate the human motion of upper limbs in real time. Two work chains are built on each arm to ensure that there is motion similarity, such as the end effector trajectory and the joint-angle configuration. In addition, a two-phase filter is used to remove the interference and noise, together with a self-collision avoidance scheme to maintain the stability of the robot during the imitation. Experimental results verify the effectiveness of our solution on the humanoid robot Nao-H25 in terms of accuracy and real-time performance.

  • Recently, robot programming education are suggested for elementary students. However, the degree of class participation of female students was low because of the failure of the recognition of female students' inclination when they chose contents and instructional strategies. Thus, this paper analyzed the gender differences of interests of elementary students have in robot programming through questionnaire and suggested the robot programming instructional strategies considered gender differences through reviewing literature in such areas as gender differences in computer learning and programming learning, and effective instructional strategies. Furthermore, the validity of the instructional strategies which are suggested was verified by experts. Through this research, the researcher expects for the researcher findings to be bases for a more active participation of female students in computer field.

  • This paper deals with the development of a deep-learning-based runway cleaning robot using an optical camera. A suitable model to realize real-time object detection was investigated, and the differences between the selected YOLOv3 and other deep learning models were analyzed. In order to check whether the proposed system is applicable to the actual runway, an experiment was conducted by making a prototype of the robot and a runway model. As a result, it was confirmed that the robot was well developed because the detection rate of FOD (Foreign Object Debris) and cracks was high, and the collection of foreign substances was carried out smoothly.
