The traffic accidents at a construction site, which happen due to construction vehicles' frequent access to a construction site, its subsequent conflicts with ordinary vehicles and pedestrians, and inappropriate installation & management of traffic security facilities, have not many proportions in all traffic accidents, but obviously, the accident damage is quite serious when comparing the level of the fatal per one accident. This research conducted an analysis of traffic accident injury severity using Ordered Probit Model in relation to 241 traffic accident cases that occurred caused by construction sites among the traffic accidents that took place in Seoul and Gyeoggi-do region for two years from 2006 until 2007. As a result, the significant variables enough to explain traffic accident injury severity were analyzed to be the state of road surface, linear shape of an accident spot & whether the damaging car belongs to the vehicle for construction, and whether vehicles have access to a construction site at the time of an accident. Through this, this research found out some fact as follows: first, there need to be more aggressive management of the vehicles for construction and a year-round placement of the manpower who can control vehicular access to a construction site. Second, it is necessary to get drivers to recognize the fact that there exists a construction site on the construction section which is on the border of curved roads in advance to prevent a traffic accident, helping to reduce socioeconomic loss & costs incurred by a traffic accident.

Slopes are commonly formed both above and below roads located in mountainous terrain and along riversides. The Buk-sil site, a cut slope formed below the road, collapsed in October, 2010. A field investigation determined the causes of failure as improper drainage of valley water from the slope above the road and direct seepage of road-surface water. These factors may have accelerated the collapse via complex interaction between water and sub-surface structures such as bedding. Projection analysis of the site showed the possible involvement of plane, wedge, and toppling failure. Safety factors calculated by Limit Equilibrium Analysis for plane and wedge failure were below the standard for wet conditions. The wetness index, analyzed using topographic factors of the study area, was 9.0-10.5, which is high compared with the values calculated for nearby areas. This finding indicates a high concentration of water flow. We consider that water-flow control on the upper road is crucial for enhancing slope stability at the Buk-sil site.
This study was conducted from 2012, which was a year before forest road construction in Minjujisan, to 2015 to verify effects on flora and vegetation change annually before and after the construction, and to provide strategies to examine and manage flora changes. The plant communities in the investigated area around the forest road is separated by the slopes into Quercus mongolica community is on the northwestern slope and Quercus variabilis and Larix kaempferi communities is on the southwestern slope. The annual investigation of flora change before and after the construction showed that there were 209 taxa that had 71 families, 153 genera, 178 species, 27 varieties, and 4 forma in 2015 while there were 66 taxa that had 44 families, 59 genera, 51 species, 13 varieties, and 2 forma in 2012 before the construction, indicating an increase of 143 texa before and after the construction. The investigation of the slope area adjacent to the forest road constructed in 2013, in particular, showed increasing coverage and taxa each year after the construction. This was caused by significantly increased light transmittance after the construction. The investigation in 2015 showed increased coverage of herbaceous layer the year after development of the forest road and the remarkable increase of the coverage of shrub layer in 2015. Further, the coverage on the slope adjacent to the forest road increased more in 2015 than in 2013 and 2014. Therefore, we expect supplementary studies will help to generate a detail manual on flora and vegetation change before and after forest road construction.
This survey was conducted to analyze the effect of road construction near the group breeding places of the egrets and herons located at Palhyun-ri, Daegu, on their breeding during four years from 2003 to 2006. With the number of the individuals of the whole egrets and herons have been decreased due to the three-year road construction work(2003-2005). When the road construction was temporally stopped in 2006, the number of individuals of egrets and herons except Cattle egret Bubulcus ibis increased and partocilarly, the Gray heron Ardea cinerea was found to have been influenced the most by this construction in comparison with other egrets and herons. The number od individuals of large egrets, little egrets and herons was found to decrease during the construction period. After cutting off the nest trees and removing some parts of the breeding site, the herons and egrets tended to move their nesting place from roadsides to the inside of the breeding area. Trees for the nests decreased due to the increase in fellen trees caused by bird nests per tree increased gradually. As for the formation ratio of trees for the nests, the ratio of pine trees lowered yearly while that of acacia and oak trees was increasing during the survey.

Recently, the maintenance period of sidewalk pavement proposed in Ministry of Construction & Transportation to be extended by more than 10 years. Therefore it takes many interests in Durability and the maintenance. Beside sidewalk pavement, block pavement happened problems in parking and road less than 20km/hr about bearing capacity and durability, the maintenance. It interests about importance of environmentally friendly sidewalk pavement. It compared engineering characteristics about strength and durability through general pavement comparison with stone block pavement. It estimate bearing capacity in actual si-tu site and test site. It experimented plate bearing test and field density test. It verified about durability of pavement by construction availability of geosynthetics that is constructed by purpose of filter. Stone block pavement evaluated about application of sidewalk/road pavement on the basis of result.

Recently, the government has improvement projects of dangerous road for the site that has very high accident rate due to bad geometric structures of the road. Although, route selecting of the road is a basic and important process, but the process of route selecting must consider the technical, safety and environment factor together. Also, the technology for the 3-dimensional terrain model can be used as an important factor in planning and designing for selecting alternative route projects. In the course of experimenting with the 3-dimensional topography generated by the combination of the digital map and drawing of route, the technology as been developed to offer the multi-dimensional access to the potential construction sites from the nearby main roads. This 3-dimensional digital elevation model has made it possible to make various terrain analysis base on GIS, which provides real-time virtual access to the designated construction sites for development planning and construction projects. Therefore, this study presents a reasonable plan for route selecting from some alternative routes through subjective evaluation and classify the methods linked basic design of road construction.

This study aims at establishing an ecological planning for road construction. which is considered to be a main cause of damage to the natural environment in Korea. This study focuses on the Pyungtak-Eumsung Highway development project. It considers the ecological factors and status of the site and its surrounding area. The study site is a four-way highway with a width of 23.4m and a length of 5.7km that spans from Hyungok-ri, Anseong City, Kyeonggi Province to Jukhyun-ri, Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk Province. The objective of the plan is "the establishment of an eco-road in harmony with nature." The plan is divided into five detailed goals: 1) restoration of river morphology and ecosystem through ecological planning; 2) establishment of wet biotopes; 3) construction of ecological corridors; 4) restoration of damaged forest ecosystems; and 5) ecological restoration of the roadside slopes that are linked with the surrounding forest. A master plan has been developed based on the detailed goals. The master plan involves: 1) establishment of a natural river, wet biotopes, and ecological corridors that facilitate the movement of amphibians, wild fowls, mammalians and fish; 2) development of a planting plan for the visitor center, the tunnel entrance, and soundproof banks; and 3) the presentation of a planting model for restoring roadside slopes that are connected to the surrounding forest. The eco-road plan needs to entail ecological conservation and restoration plans. In addition, a monitoring plan for ecological corridors and habitats should be included in the comprehensive plans, along with the continuous development of environmentally friendly technologies.

Noise, dust, etc. caused by road pavement cutting work, which frequently occurs in new construction or reconstruction of buildings, construction of complexes, etc., are environmental hazards and cause civil complaints. Recently, an eco-friendly pavement cutter is being developed to make the work low in noise and dust, however, the on-site cutting performance of the equipment has not been quantified. In this study, in order to derive a standard value for comparing the cutting performance of the eco-friendly cutter under development, a conventional pavement cutter was applied to four residential sites in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, and the cutting data was collected. As a result of analyzing the collected data, the conventional pavement cutter showed a cutting performance of 12.3 to 20.2 sec/m, and the average was 27.2 sec/m. In the future, additional cutting experiments with various mixing ratios, materials, and depths are planned to confirm the performance of conventional pavement cutter in more detail.

Wind turbines should generally be installed at a certain distance from a road to ensure passengers' safety. In Korea, there is no clear guidance as the Ministry of Environment first proposed a road setback distance of 400 m in the Onshore Wind Farm Siting Guidelines draft proposed in July 2012, and then modified it to 1.5 times the height of the wind turbine in October of the same year. This study analyzed the dynamic range of onshore wind resource potential according to how the road setback distance is set using the Korea Wind Atlas with 100m spatial resolution made by the Korea Institute of Energy Research, the transportation network of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation, and the forest road network of the Korea Forestry Service. Owing to the geographical characteristics of Korea, where mountainous terrain accounts for 70% of the total territory, the wind resource potential within 1 km from forest roads are estimated to be 14.3 GW, 14% of Korea's total wind resource potential. In addition, the construction distance of new road for transporting wind turbines from the existing road to a wind farm site is estimated as less than 2 km. Given the limited wind resource potential and geographical constraints, an assessment system that can maximize wind resource utilization and ensure road safety at the same time, and which takes into account the regional characteristics instead of applying the fixed road setback distance across-the-road, is required.
It is not difficult to see the road repairing. There are many and various machines which crush road surface. The efficiency and power of the machine depend on crushing head-shape, crushing interval, crushing load, crushing stress, machine's dropping height and roller's kind. The objective of this study is to select the optimal model among ten models of crushing machine with constraints such as crushing depth, variation, and crushed particle size. And then this paper provides the valid theoretical base on selected model. The data for this study are chosen from the site of construction in Kangnung during three months (2004. 6. 1${\~}$2004. 8. 31). The provided methodology in this paper will be fruitful not only for the selection of crushing machine but also for the aspects of construction period, cost, work efficacy according to the condition from the various sites of construction.
