Recently, damage of pavement represented by crack is depened by the increase of traffic demand up to ten million and wight, and interest about the efficient management of pavement is being increased gradually according to the growth of maintenance expense of road surface. In this study, the possibility of application for acquisition of crack information was tested by appling DCRP and digital image processing technique and measuring crack on road surface precisely. Based on this, objective and efficient road surface measurement was planned and done. Measuring crack width, acquire result of comparative high accuracy. So, it is considered that it can be utilized as plan draft data for deterioration estimation and repair reinforcement work of pavement.

The concrete pavement slabs that suffer expansion due to the Alkali-Aggregate Reaction(AAR) increase and the increase consequently causes unexpected displacement of bridge abutment. As the expansion due to the AAR is greater than that due to the temperature change, lethal load can act on bridge abutment. Therefore appropriate preventive measures may be necessary. The degree of expansion by AAR depends on the severity of AAR and geometry condition of concrete pavement and road structure. In order to prevent damage to bridge, it is effective to release the expansion force of the concrete. It would be advantageous to replace the concrete pavement with asphalt for a long section of concrete pavement.

Crack sealing is a maintenance technique commonly used to prevent water and debris penetration and reduce future degradation in pavement. In recent years, several systems for automatically routing and sealing pavement cracks have been developed in the highway construction and maintenance area. Automating pavement crack sealing can improve safety, productivity and quality, and reduce road user cost as well. The reduction in crew size and the increase in productivity of the automated sealing process will be translated directly into significant potential cost savings. The main objective of this study is to illustrate conceptual models for the development of the automated pavement crack sealer which meets domestic road condition and regulation, and to discuss its technical feasibilities. Conclusions are made concerning the applicability and the value of cantilever-typed pavement crack which is selected as the most feasible alternative in both economical and technical aspects.
More than sixty percentage of highway in South Korea were constructed by concrete pavements and more than half of the concrete pavements were twenty years or older. The most of highway have difficulty in providing detour due to the traffic and road condition of South Korea. So far, asphalt concrete has been used for the overlay of aged cement concrete pavement. However, the frequent early damage and maintenance of typical asphalt overlay due to repetitive maintenance causes inconvenience of road users and expensive costs. It is necessary to investigate the factors affecting the performance of asphalt concrete overlay to improve the performance of asphalt overlay. However, the performance data of asphalt concrete overlay in South Korea does not exist. In this research, to investigate on the factors affecting the life of asphalt concrete overlay was attempted based on statistical analysis of the performance data of asphalt concrete overlay included in LTPP (Long-Term Pavement Performance) Database of U.S.A.

A sliding accident on the road have a high percentage by road freezing, especially, it is often appeared at bridges and Tunnel of freezing areas. Thus, the stability of road operations is enhanced by preventing a partial freezing phenomenon. According to the geothermal snow melting system analysis, a pattern of thermal conductivity is found out about pavement materials of concrete and asphalt when it is buried. The thermal conductivity study is essential that be applied the geothermal snow melting system according to heating exchanger pipe laying of lower pavements. The model tests are conducted on low temperature in freezer using the manufactured test model which is equal to pavement materials. And Many variables are discovered from numerical analyzes of the same conditions with model test.

The maintenance cost for highway pavement is gradually increasing due to the continuous increase in road extension as well as increase in the number of old routes that have passed the public period. As a result, there is a need for a method of minimizing costs through preventative grievance Preventive maintenance requires the establishment of a strategic plan through accurate prediction old Highway pavement. herefore, in this study, the XGBoost among machine learning classification-based models was used to develop a highway pavement damage prediction model. First, we solved the imbalanced data issue through data sampling, then developed a predictive model using the XGBoost. This predictive model was evaluated through performance indicators such as accuracy and F1 score. As a result, the over-sampling method showed the best performance result. On the other hand, the main variables affecting road damage were calculated in the order of the number of years of service, ESAL, and the number of days below the minimum temperature -2 degrees Celsius. If the performance of the prediction model is improved through more data accumulation and detailed data pre-processing in the future, it is expected that more accurate prediction of maintenance-required sections will be possible. In addition, it is expected to be used as important basic information for estimating the highway pavement maintenance budget in the future.
PURPOSES : This research describes how to predict the life cycles of fatigue cracking based on NCHRP Report 704 as well as modified harmony search (MHS) algorithm. METHODS : The fatigue cracking regression model of NCHRP Report 704 was used in order to calculate the ESAL (Equivalent Single Axle Load) numbers up to pavement failure, based on using material parameters, composite modulus, and surface pavement thickness. Furthermore, the MHS algorithm was implemented to find appropriate material parameters and other structural conditions given the number of ESALs, which is related to pavement service life. RESULTS : The case studies show that the material and structural parameters can be obtained, resulting in satisfying the failure endurance of asphalt concrete structure, given the number of ESALs. For example, the required ESALs such as one or two millions are targeted to satisfy the service performance of asphalt concrete pavements in this study. CONCLUSIONS : According to the case studies, It can be concluded that the MHS algorithm provides a good tool of optimization problems in terms of minimizing the difference between the required service cycles, which is a given value, and the calculated service cycles, which is obtained from the fatigue cracking regression model.
The management of existing airfield pavement information has currently become difficult and the maintenance cost has increased over time due to the long-term performance. It is needed to develop the method for effective budget allocation and systematic airfield pavement management services. The objectives of this paper are to introduce Micro PAVER, one of the popular pavement management systems, into our management system and customize Micro PAVER based on our environment and pavement management level. This study focused on the analysis on logics and structures of Micro PAVER and customization of important parts in the program using the existing pavement evaluation data and survey method. Customized items selected in this study included the pavement deterioration prediction models, critical PCI, maintenance cost by PCI, maintenance or rehabilitation method and unit cost, and PCI rank.

This study analyzed the field applicability through the combination of environment-friendly grid-typed reinforcements and pre-mixed fiber with filler. The film of the grid-typed reinforcement is made by recycled PE resin. And, Ascon fiber is obtained the dispersion by pre-mixing of filler. To be able to recognize in advance the various circumstances that could arise in the construction of the road pavement layer, we conducted a basic field application test of the (Mock Up) pavement layer. As a result, it was found that the pavement with environment-friendly grid-typed reinforcement and dispersive fiber construction had improved strength, stress, and rutting resistance. It is consistent with the strength and stress results of the actual test of the mock up specimen. It is expected to perform an effective role in the safety as well as the use of environment-friendly fibers in actual construction.
