Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relation between rinsing time and the change in enamel surface after fluoride application on the enamel surface. Methods: We recruited two sample groups with different mouth rinsing times. While one group rinsed the teeth immediately after applying acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) gel, the other group rinsed the teeth 30 minutes after APF gel application. In each group, we performed the following four-step experiment: (i) apply APF gel on the teeth, (ii) rinse the teeth, (iii) immerse the teeth in orange juice, and (iv) measure enamel surface microhardness and scan enamel surfaces. Results: The group that rinsed 30 minutes after treatment exhibited greater microhardness than the group that rinsed immediately after fluoride treatment. The former also showed smooth and regular crystallization, whereas the latter showed rough and damaged crystallization and irregular surfaces. Conclusions: Based on these observations, we conclude that delaying the rinsing time improves the dental caries preventive effect of fluoride.
This study aims to select suitable co-solvents and to obtain optimal process conditions in order to improve process efficiency and productivity through experimental results obtained under various experimental conditions for the etching and rinsing process using liquid carbon dioxide and supercritical carbon dioxide. Acetone was confirmed to be effective through basic experiments and used as the etching solution for MEMS-wafer etching in this study. In the case of using liquid carbon dioxide as the solvent and acetone as the etching solution, these two components were not mixed well and showed a phase separation. Liquid carbon dioxide in the lower layer interfered with contact between acetone and Mems-wafer during etching, and the results after rinsing and drying were not good. Based on the results obtained under various experimental conditions, the optimum process for treating MEMS-wafer using supercritical CO2 as the solvent, acetone as the etching solution, and methanol as the rinsing solution was set up, and MEMS-wafer without stiction can be obtained by continuous etching, rinsing and drying process. In addition, the amount of the etching solution (acetone) and the cleaning liquid (methanol) compared to the initial experimental values can be greatly reduced through optimization of process conditions.

According to consumer's washing behavior, the washing efficiency of three different types of washing machines-pulsator, agitator, and drum was studied. Their detergency, rinsing efficiency, and the degree of fabric damage, tangle, and wrinkle were evaluated. The results showed that efficient washing capacity was different from the specified capacity of washing machine. Detergency and rinsing efficiency frere apparently decreased when more than 50% of capacity was loaded in washing machine of pulsator type, and 80% for agitator or drum types. They were also affected by detergent adding methods, and decreased in the order of water-detergent-washing load> washing load-detergent-water> washing load-water-detergent. Rinsing efficiency was significantly improved when the rinsing temperature was set above washing temperature. In addition, it was revealed that detergency, fabric damage, wrinkle, and tangle were highly correlated. The relationships between detergency and tangle were different for different types of washing machine. Positive relationships were found for agitator and drum types, whereas negative for pulsator type.
Purpose: This study aimed to compare three-dimensional adaptation with the rinsing time of the temporary crown produced using the digital light processing method. Methods: The maxillary right first molar abutment was scanned with a dental scanner. A temporary crown was designed with the scanned abutment. The designed crown was made of 10 temporary crowns using a digital light processing printer. The crowns were divided into the 5-minute and 10-minute rinsing groups; 5 temporary crown washes were performed for each group. In order to obtain the internal data, each group was scanned for a temporary crown. The three-dimensional fit was measured by superimposing the scanned internal surface data and the abutment data. The average comparison of three-dimensional adaptation was analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The 5-minute rinsing group showed a significantly higher adaptation of 71.42±3.08 ㎛ as compared to the 10-minute rinsing group (67.52±0.92 ㎛) (p<0.05). Conclusion: When making a temporary crown with a digital light processing method, a rinsing time of 10 minutes is appropriate.

Carcass vascular rinsing and chilling involves infusing a chilled isotonic solution (98.5% water and a blend of mono- and di-saccharides and phosphates) into the vasculature immediately upon exsanguination. Primary purposes of carcass vascular rinsing are to (1) effectively remove residual blood from the carcass; (2) lower internal muscle temperature rapidly; and (3) optimize pH decline by effective delivery of glycolytic substrates in the rinse solution. Previous studies have revealed that the beef carcass vascular rinsing early postmortem positively affects meat quality, product shelflife, and food safety. Thus, the objective of this review is to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the physical and biochemical mechanisms associated with beef carcass vascular rinsing, focusing on the relationship between quality attributes (CIE L*, a*, b*; chemical states of myoglobin; oxygen consumption and sarcomere length) and muscle metabolic response to various substrate solutions (Rinse & Chill®, fructose, sodium phosphate, and dipotassium phosphate) that stimulate or inhibit the rate of glycolysis early postmortem. In addition, this review discusses the absence of metabolite residues (phosphorus, sodium, and glucose) related to the application of the chilled isotonic solution. This review primarily focuses on beef and as such extending the understanding of the mechanisms and meat quality effects discussed to other species associated with vascular rinsing, in particular pork, may be limited.
Electroless plating is widely utilized in engineering for the metallization of insulator substrates, including polymers, glass, and ceramics, without the need for the application of external potential. Homogeneous nucleation of metals requires the presence of Sn-Pd catalysts, which significantly reduce the activation energy of deposition. Therefore, rinsing conducted during Sn sensitization and Pd activation is a key variable for the formation of a uniform seed layer without the lack or excess of catalysts. Herein, we report the optimized rinsing process for the functionalization of Sn-Pd catalysts, which enables the uniform FeCo metallization of the glass fibers. Rinsing enables good deposition of the FeCo alloy because of the removal of excess catalysts from the glass fiber. Concurrently, excessive rinsing results in a complete removal of the Sn-Pd nucleus. Collectively, the comprehensive study of the proposed nanomaterial preparation and surface science show that the metallization of insulators is a promising technology for electronics, solar cells, catalysts, and mechanical parts.

This laboratory study was performed to produce basic data for the estimation of water requirements for desalinization, through analyzing changes of the electrical conductivity and the exchangeable sodium percentage during the desalinization of reclaimed tidelands. Desalinization experiments were carried out by two water management practices, namely, the leaching method by subsurface drainage and the rinsing method by surface drainage, using samples of silt loam soil and silty clay loam soil collected in reclaimed tidelands. The results obtained from this study were summarized as follows : 1. The sample soils used in this study were saline-sodic soils with the high electrical conductivity and the high exchangeable sodium percentage. 2. Changes of the electrical conductivity and the exchangeable sodium percentage with water requirements for desalinization showed a similar tendency in the desalinization experiment by the same water management practice. 3. The regression equation between the relative electrical conductivity(EC/EC) and water requirements for desalinization(Dw/Ds) could be described by Dw/Ds=O. 29x(EC/EC.) -0.982 (Leaching method), Dw/Ds=3. 678X0. 030(EC/EC ) (Rinsing method). 4. The regression equation between the relative exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP/ESP ) and water requirements for desalinization (Dw/Ds) could be expressed in Dw/Ds = 0.039 x (ESP/ESP. ) - 1. 134 (Leaching method), Dw/Ds=7. 197X0. 024(ESP/ESP ) (Rinsing method). 5. It was estimated that water requirements for the adequate desalinization would be Dw/Ds=0.3 (Leaching method) and Dw/Ds=3.0 (Rinsing method)

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of multiple decontamination procedures for salivary contamination after curing of a universal adhesive on dentin bond strength according to its etch modes. Materials and Methods: Forty-two extracted bovine incisors were trimmed by exposing the labial dentin surfaces and embedded in cylindrical molds. A universal adhesive (All-Bond Universal, Bisco) was used. The teeth were randomly divided into groups according to etch mode and decontamination procedure. The adhesive was applied according to the manufacturer's instructions for a given etch mode. With the exception of the control groups, the cured adhesive was contaminated with saliva for 20 sec. In the self-etch group, the teeth were divided into three groups: control, decontamination with rinsing and drying, and decontamination with rinsing, drying, and adhesive. In the etch-and-rinse group, the teeth were divided into four groups: control, decontamination with rinsing and drying, decontamination with rinsing, drying, and adhesive, and decontamination with rinsing, drying, re-etching, and reapplication of adhesive. A composite resin (Filtek Z350XT, 3M ESPE) was used for filling and was cured on the treated surfaces. Shear bond strength was measured, and failure modes were evaluated. The data were subjected to one-way analysis of variation and Tukey's HSD test. Results: The etch-and-rinse subgroup that was decontaminated by rinse, drying, re-etching, and reapplication of adhesive showed a significantly higher bond strength. Conclusions: When salivary contamination occurs after curing of the universal adhesive, additional etching improves the bond strength to dentin.
This study shows the effects of deionized (DI) rinse and oxide HF wet etch processes on silicon substrate during a photolithography process. We found a fail at the wafer center after DI rinse step, called Si pits, during the fabrication of a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) device. We tried to find out the mechanism of the Si pits by using the silicon wafer on CMOS fabrication and analyzing the effects of the friction charge induced by the DI rinsing. The key parameters of this experiment were revolution per minute (rpm) and time. An incubation time of above 10 sec was observed for the formation of Si pits and the rinsing time was more effective than rpm on the formation of the Si pits. The formation mechanism of the Si pits and optimized rinsing process parameters were investigated by measuring the charging level using a plasma density monitor. The DI rinse could affect the oxide substrate by a friction charging phenomenon on the photolithography process. Si pits were found to be formed on the micro structural defective site on the Si substrate under acceleration by developed and accumulated charges during DI rinsing. The optimum process conditions of DI rinse time and rpm could be established through a systematic study of various rinsing conditions.
PURPOSE. This study was to evaluate the effect of rinsing time on the accuracy of interim crowns fabricated by digital light processing. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The maxillary right first molar master die was duplicated using a silicone material, while a study die was produced using epoxy resin. Scans of the epoxy resin die were used in combination with CAD software to design a maxillary right first molar interim crown. Based on this design, 24 interim crowns were fabricated with digital light processing. This study examined the trueness and precision of products that were processed with one of the three different postprocessing rinsing times (1 min, 5 min, and 10 min). Trueness was measured by superimposing reference data with scanned data from external, intaglio, and marginal surfaces. Precision was measured by superimposing the scan data within the group. The trueness and precision data were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis, nonparametric, and post-hoc tests, and were compared using a Mann-Whitney U test with Bonferroni correction (α=.05). RESULTS. The trueness of the external and intaglio surfaces of crowns varied significantly among the different rinsing times (P=.004, P=.003), but there was no statistically significant difference in terms of trueness measurements of the marginal surfaces (P=.605). In terms of precision, statistically significant differences were found among the external, intaglio, and marginal surfaces (P=.001). CONCLUSION. Interim crowns rinsed for 10 minutes showed high accuracy.
