  • In this study, the geometric model of 11 factorization formulas presented in the 2015 revised national curriculum was constructed and the necessary mathematical conditions were derived in the process. As a result of the study, all of the 11 factorization formulas are geometrically modeled and 12 conditions are derived in the process. However, the basic method of directly cutting and attaching a given shape was limited to not being able to make a rectangle or rectangular parallelepiped. Therefore, the problem was solved by changing the perspective and focusing on whether rectangle or rectangular parallelepiped with the same area or volume could be constructed.

  • The purpose of this study is developed the Item Feature Analysis (IFA) frameworks for curriculum-based assessments, focusing on Math competency and representation in secondary schools and implemented the IFA in National Assessment of Educational Achievement. To conduct the study, previous studies were analyzed, and feasibility studies were conducted twice. As a result of the study, we structured the IFA framework based on the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum in Korea and developed a method to analyze the characteristics of the math items. The results of structuring the framework for math included two categories: math competency in the content aspects, and representation type in the formal aspects. Specifically, 12 features of math competency and 8 features of representation type were identified, and an item feature analysis framework composed of these features was developed. The math competency was developed based on the subject competency of 2015 national curriculum. Math assessments in high schools, which have been changed to the competency-based assessments, had more frequency of the feature of math competency compared to middle schools. In this study, implemented the IFA in National Assessment of Educational Achievement and explored the way of ensuring the validity. These have been proved as critical applications for ensuring the validity of curriculum-based student assessment as well as building a tool for assessment.

  • This paper aims to examine how mathematical history is used in textbooks according to the 2015-Revised Curriculum. We analyze the distribution and characteristics of making use of the mathematical history in the nine textbooks, using the framework suggested by Jankvist (2009) on the whys and hows of using historical tasks. First, the tasks related to mathematical history in the textbooks are mostly used as an affective tool, while few tasks are used as a cognitive tool. Second, most of the historical tasks of the type of an affective tool are introducing the anecdotes of mathematicians or in the history of mathematics, and only one case is trying to show human nature of mathematics by illuminating the difficulties mathematicians were faced with. Third, all the mathematical history tasks used as affective tools and goals are illumination materials, while only two out of the ten tasks in the category of a cognitive tool are illumination materials, yet eight others are modular ones. Considering the importance and value of using mathematical history in the math education, this paper recommends that more modular materials on mathematical history tasks in the category of cognitive tools and goals should be developed and their deployment in the textbooks or courses should be promoted.

  • It summarized and analyzed how the definitions of prism, which is the main mathematics education contents of the upper grades of elementary school, have changed from the teaching period to the 2015 revised curriculum. To this end, the definition method was divided into three methods, and how each method was used in each curriculum was examined. Through this, it was confirmed that the definitions of prism were quite different for each curriculum period. In addition, the implications for the definition of each prism were compressed and presented. It will be an opportunity for the textbook author to think about what is a more meaningful definition method of prism.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the multiplication units in the elementary school mathematics. In the 2015 revised curriculum, students learn multiplication in $2^{nd}$ grade. The multiplication units is divided into two: multiplication and multiplication facts. In these two units, we mainly analyze situations involving multiplication, models for teaching multiplication, and multiplication strategies for teaching multiplication facts in relation to Subject Matter Knowledge. We called these contents Multiplication Matter Knowledge. We examined the precedent study with regard to multiplication at the elementary mathematics. As results, we prepared an analysis framework for this study. This study was conducted according to qualitative research methods, expecially 'qualitative contents analysis'. The contents here refer to Multiplication Matter Knowledge that can be found in the elementary mathematics textbooks and working books etc. As results of analysis, We can confirm that various multiplication situations and multiplication models are presented in the textbooks. And it has been examined that various multiplication properties are presented in the textbook according to the multiplication strategy levels. We insist elementary school teachers should be aware of these Multiplication Matter Knowledge. This study aims to provide elementary school teachers with basic data in these contexts.

  • The purpose of this study is to derive implications for the development of the next curriculum and textbooks by comparing and analyzing the textbooks of the 2015 revised high school mathematics curriculum <Mathematics for Economics> and social studies curriculum <Economics>. In the <Mathematics for Economics> textbooks, economic terms and function notations should be introduced. Additionally, the use of graphs for economic-related functions is different from the use of graphs in mathematics in the <Mathematics for Economics> textbooks. For these reasons, the usage of economic terms, function notations, and function graphs covered in the <Mathematics for Economics> textbooks were compared and analyzed with the usage in the <Economics> textbooks. In the <Mathematics for Economics> textbooks, economic terms that are highly related to mathematics are defined and presented. Contrary to the conventions of mathematics and economics, the function notations in the <Mathematics for Economics> textbooks were used inconsistently because uppercase and lowercase letters were mixed in the function notations. Function graphs in the <Mathematics for Economics> textbooks had differences in the range of values represented by the variables regarding axes and scaling. The <Mathematics for Economics> textbooks did not provide a mathematical interpretation of the translation or slope. In the course of <Mathematics for Economics>, it is necessary to specify considerations for teaching and learning, and assessment in the curriculum to promote students' understanding of mathematics and economics. The descriptions in the curriculum document and textbooks of <Mathematics for Economics> should be supplemented to provide learning opportunities for mathematical interpretation of economics-related contents.
