Application Examples of CFD at the Planning Stage of High-Rise Buildings

  • Application examples of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in the planning stage of high-rise buildings are introduced. First, we introduce examples of applications in the environmental field. The pedestrian wind environment was one of the earliest practical examples of CFD. CFD was also employed to validate the heat island mitigation measures proposed as part of the new construction plan. Second, application examples of wind-force evaluations are introduced. Prediction examples are presented for the peak wind pressure around a complex-shaped building and the wind force evaluation for a base-isolated building. The results prove that the results of the proper execution of CFD are equivalent to those of the wind tunnel experiment. As examples of CFD applications of other issues related to high-rise building planning, we introduce snow accretion on outer walls and high-temperature exhaust from emergency generators. Finally, the future prospects for the use of CFD are discussed.

  • 최근에는 생활수준 향상으로 인간친화적인 공간창조 등 의장적인 측면에서 다양한 요구가 나타나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 무주태권도원의 2개의 블랙콘크리트 교량에 기존연구에서 얻어진 카본아미노실리카블랙 고성능 감수제(CASB-SP)를 적용하기 위한 Mock up test와 현장적용사항에 대하여 보고하고자 하였다. Mock up test 결과 일반적인 품질 항목은 양호하게 나타났고, 백화방지와 관련한 발수제 도포는 에폭시계가 가장 양호한 것으로 나타나 현장적용에 활용하였다. 현장적용 결과 역시 기초적 특성은 모두 양호 하였고, 검정색 색상구현도 양호하였는데, 기존의 카본블랙 분말 색소를 이용하는 경우보다 시공성, 품질 모두 양호하면서 30 % 정도의 저렴한 경제성도 확인할 수 있었다.

하수구조물용 항균콘크리트의 개발 및 현장적용 (Development of Antimicrobial Concrete for Sewage Structures and Application to Construction Field)

  • Sewage facilities are positively necessary for environment improvement such as rainwater removal, sewage disposal, preservation of the qualify of water and health of the citizens in present-day. Meanwhile, a deterioration of the concrete sewer pipe is increasing rapidly due to the chemical and physical attack and especially biochemical attack that is to say biodeterioration. In this study, researches for the development of antibiotics and antimicrobial concrete were conducted to reduce biochemical corrosion of sewage concrete. First of all, desired performance, such as watertightness, antibiosis, homogeneity, workability and harmlessness, was proposed and performance of antibiotics and antimicrobial concrete were evaluated by them. And developed antimicrobial concrete was applied to actual construction field. As results of this study, dispersibility and antibiosis of liquid antibiotics superior to powdery antibiotics. Antibiosis of antimicrobial concrete was verified, and amount of elution of harmful and effective ingredients was little. In workability, setting time of antimicrobial concrete was delayed. Compressive strength and resistance to carbonation of antimicrobial concrete were more increased than ordinary concrete. Finally, as there were no problems in quality and construction progress of antimicrobial concrete produced in plant, applicability of antimicrobial concrete to actual construction field was verified.

  • Magnetic field analysis of claw-pole type generator using equivalent circuit is presented in this paper. On the basis of 3D geometry and flux paths, equivalent magnetic circuit is designed and field analysis is performed by solving the circuit. Non-linear characteristic of material is considered for precise analysis results. 3D FEA is performed to verify analysis results, and flux densities in rotor and stator regions are compared. Calculated no-load back emf for field input voltage and speed are verified by experiment. Comparing to 3D FEA, presented method provides precise results with instant calculation time.

Microbial Risk Assessment using E. coli in UV Disinfected Wastewater Irrigation on Paddy

  • Water stress has become a major concern in agriculture. Korea suffers from limited agricultural water supply, and wastewater reuse has been recommended as an alternative solution.A study was performed to examine the effects of microorganism concentration in the ponded-water of a paddy rice field with reclaimed-water irrigation for evaluating the microbial risk to farmers and neighborhoodchildren.Most epidemiological studies were performed based on an upland field, and they may not directly applicable to paddy fields. Beta-Poisson model was used to estimate the microbial risk of pathogen ingestion. Their risk value increased significantly high level after irrigation and precipitation.It implies that agricultural activities such as plowing, and fertilizing, and precipitation need be practiced a few days after irrigation considering health risks. The results about field application of the microbial risk assessment using E. coli showed difference according to monitoring time and treatment plot. Result of the microbial risk assessment showed that risk values of ground-water and reclaimed secondary waste water irrigation were lower than directly use of wastewater treatment plants' effluent. This paper should be viewed as a first step in the application of quantitative microbial risk assessment of E. coli to wastewater reuse in a paddy rice farming.

피뢰설비현장의 접지 및 전기적 연속성 시험에 따른 표준적용 (The Application of Standard in According to Ground and Electrical Continuity Testing of Lightning Protection Equipment in Field)

  • In this study, there are examined to the grounding of lightning protection system and electrical continuity tests in the field. The standard for lightning protection system is different design or construction according to the characteristics of the structure. Ground is measured and compared at least four locations. According to the measured results in the field, the sampled values of the ground resistance are measured $5{\Omega}$ or less and the difference between each value is suitable as $0.2{\Omega}$ or less. The values of the electrical continuity test between ground and metal bodies are measured 3 groups such as isolated portion, the mechanical contacted portion, and the electrical continuity portion measuring $0.2{\Omega}$ or less. It is measured to be less than $0.2{\Omega}$ at all in metal bodies of underground. A metal body installed inside the structure is not isolated, but the resistance values are higher than $0.2{\Omega}$. Therefore, It must be carried out the structure having lightning protection system confirm the LPL(lightning protection level) and design the strategy.

Performance of Non Punch-Through Trench Gate Field-Stop IGBT for Power Control System and Automotive Application

  • In this paper, we have analyzed the electrical characteristics of 1200V trench gate field stop IGBT and have compared to NPT planar type IGBT and NPT planar field stop IGBT. As a result of analyzing, we obtained superior electrical characteristics of trench gate field stop IGBT than conventional IGBT. To begin with, the breakdown voltage characteristic was showed 1,460 V and on state voltage drop was showed 0.7 V. We obtained 3.5 V threshold voltage, too. To use these results, we have extracted optimal design and process parameter and designed trench gate field stop IGBT. The designed trench gate IGBT will use to inverter of renewable energy and automotive industry.

지질 관련 야외 학습과 STEAM 교육을 융합한 프로그램 개발 및 적용 효과 (The Development and Application Effects of Convergence Program for Field Trip and STEAM Education related Geology)

  • In this study, a theme-centered STEAM program converged with field trip was developed in the 'The stratum and fossils' unit of elementary science. The objectives were to find the influences on academic achievement, creative problem solving abilities and scientific attitude of elementary school students. The STEAM education program was composed of content which can be applied effectively by converging field trip and STEAM elements. As the results applied the STEAM program to elementary school students, the experimental group improved effectively in the academic achievement, creative problem solving abilities and scientific attitude compared to the control group, which took the theoretical lesson. In conclusion, it is necessary to develop systematically and continuously programs converging STEAM and field trip in various units of science subject which field trip is possible.

  • This paper describes the measurement system of the magnetic field waveforms generated by lightning return strokes. The frequency bandwidth of magnetic field measurement system is from 270[Hz] to about 2.3 [MHz]. As the application experiment, the magnetic field generated by simple impulse and oscillating impulse currents, which are measured by a current transformer (Tek. AM503), is observed by the trial magnetic field measurement system. The obtained results are agreement with each other. A typical magnetic field waveform associated with lightning return strokes was recorded and presented.

  • In this paper, we developed a control algorithm to maximize the cleaning performance and the cleaning efficiency of the underwater cleaning robot platform which has been developed for various cistern environment in the industrial field. Through these research and development, we have presented the operation and application of underwater cleaning robots that have been developed, and contributed to commercialization. Finally, this results were verified the effectiveness through actual field experiments.
