  • A concept of community attachment was applied to investigate the residents' support for tourism development. This study aims to identify the factors influencing conflict management and community attachment on community resident in rural tourism villages. On-site survey with self-administered questionnaires was conducted for 348 residents in the rural tourism communities. Two distinct segments were identified by factor-clustering methods: functional-affective community attachment(80.72%) and anti-community attachment(19.28%). The characteristics of community residents with each type of community attachment were determined using a Bionomial Logistic Regression model. The most important determinants of positive community attachment were the degree of tourism business involvement, sex, and education. Therefore, some government supportive programs are needed to improve community attachment for the people who are under educated and females. In addition, the functional aspects of community attachment should be considered for rural tourism development.

  • Community is crucial for human beings not only because they are born with communal self but also because social cooperation is more efficient than competition in many cases. Human beings are defined as Homo communicus living in residential community which is important for the fulfillment of their primary needs. Residential community is an 'intimacy zone' where personal and emotional interactions are made. This study aims at examining the health of residential community in Korea by exploring the level of place attachment and neighborhood trust. Previous studies indicate that place attachment and trust are influenced by three dimensions such as residents' characteristics, house types and regional environment. This study conducted a nationwide questionnaire survey and it shows that place attachment moulds neighborhood trust. The results of path analysis demonstrates that place attachment and trust appear high in detached house areas. Age of residents also gives positive influence on the level of place attachment and neighbourhood trust. This result gives significant policy implications for the development of residential community in Korea. Residential community as an intimacy zone has been eroded and desperately needs to be revitalized. For this, more concern should be given to the issue of desirable size of residential community and the types of houses. Detached house area must be supported by governmental policies.

  • Community Attachment variables(specially, system model variables : gender, age, education, income, number of children, marital status, length of residence, and job) have been tested. The data for this study were collected from 295 residents of Yesan in Chungnam. The SPSSWIN package was utilized for data analysis. Frequency, percent, t-test, and ANOVA were utilized for statistical analysis. Each hypothesis was tested at .01, .05, and 01 level. The major findings of this study were: 1) the range of community attachment score was $17{\sim}56$. The mean score of community attachment was 29.8 with a standard deviation of 5.34. 2) t-test showed that job was statistically significant at .05 level among gender, marital status, and job. 3) length of residence, age, and numbers of children were statistically significant at .05, .10, and .01, respectively.

  • This study investigates the influence of community involvement on the destination sustainability for community destinations and spiritual destinations in Vietnam. Community involvement is measured by two constructs, which are community attachment and residents' support. A structural questionnaire consisting of 41 observation variables measured on a 5-point Likert scale was used to survey households who live in a spiritual destination in An Giang province and three community destinations in Lang Son province with the help of local tour guides and Youth Union. 168 out of 200 responses collected were valid for multivariate data analysis. The results of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) reveal three main findings. Firstly, community attachment has a direct effect on both perceived benefits and destination sustainability. Secondly, while residents' support has a direct effect on perceived benefits, it indirectly affects destination sustainability. Finally, community destinations have a higher level of sustainability than the spiritual destination. Based on those findings, this study proposed three suggestions for local authorities, policymakers, and residents to improve the sustainable development of their local tourism destinations, including (1) diversifying local tourism products, (2) encouraging the community participation in tourism development programs, and (3) increasing in the expected benefits in local tourism development policies.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine theoretical underpinnings of housing adjustment as applied to residents of Korean folk housing. On random and voluntary base, 66 households of the Andong Haboe folk village were asked to participate in the present study for a self-administrated questionnaire survey as well as open-ended face-to-face interviews. Some valuable results were obtained as follows. In spite of the legal barrier to change in physical conditions of housing, first, a huge amount of adjustment actually took place in the rural folk village. Satisfying basic amenity or shelter needs turned out to be the basic role of adjustment. Second, the number of adjustment works previously done was not effective anyhow in predicting the level of housing satisfaction. Speare's (1974) satisfaction theory of housing adjustment was largely supported by the present study. Highly dissatisfied residents with their housing were more likely to expect adjustment works of their own. Additionally, age turned out to be the most powerful predictor of housing adjustment. Finally, housing satisfaction was positively correlated with community attachment (Kendall's $\tau$ =.35 ; p 〈 .001). Residents satisfied with their house were more likely to be proud of being a member of community. Overall, though, community attachment was not related anyhow to the willingness of housing adjustment.

  • This purpose of this study was to investigate the perception and participation satisfaction of residents who participated in the rural landscape improvement project in Geumsan. The projects were conducted in three villages of Geumsan in 2018 and total 96 residents had participated. The results of the questionnaire survey on the participants showed that they usually have interests in community activities and actively participated. As a result of analyzing factors related to the change of residents' perceptions and satisfaction. It was found that there was significant difference in perception and satisfaction according to frequency of participation, not demographic factors. It is interesting that active interaction among residents during the projects and satisfaction on process are important factor for overall project satisfaction. For successful rural landscape improvement projects, it is necessary to encourage and support interaction and communication among residents. In addition, more various programs need to be developed to foster residents' attachment and sense of community.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the conceptional structure of residents' perception among tourism development impacts (economic benefits, social and environmental impact), community attachment and attitudes towards the effects of Baekdudaegan tourism development. This paper was adopted LISREL (linear structural relationships) approach, covariance structural equation model, to provided some insights on tourism development. Data of 356 were collected from Youngu and Mungyeong cities surrounding Baekdudaegan in Gyeongsangbuk-do. The results indicate that perceived economic benefits are rather greater impacts on attitudes than perceived social and environmental ones directly and indirectly. Also, perceived social impacts influence community attachment, however, perceived economic benefits and environmental impacts do not influence community attachment directly. Finally results reveal that the attitudes for supporting tourism development were found positively influenced by the identity of community attachment. Differently social exchange theory, the results suggested that residents' attitudes towards Baekdudaegan tourism development perceived positive strongly even a non related tourism resident.

  • Ecomuseums come into close relationship with resident and community. Progress of heritage concept brings on the change of valuation standard in heritage, that life style of residents become most important element of cultural heritage. The change of display method has caused the generation of various experience programs in ecomuseum which are display and education based on participation of visitors and residents. Ecomuseums in Europe during progress have conceptual peculiarities by themes to keep the cultural identity and protect folk culture in regional community. 'Europe Ecomuseum Network' seriously affected by social change and development is new alternative to promote regional identity and cultural exchange among Europe countries.
