  • This research is to analyze what kinds of relationships exist between child care teachers' concerns and their role in improving children's creativity and their teaching efficacy. There are two research questions. First, what kind of relationship is shown between child care teacher's concerns and their role in improving children's creativity? Second, what kind of relationship can be shown between child care teacher's concerns and their teaching efficacy? A survey was carried out with 156 public kindergarten teachers in the J region to research these questions. The conclusions are as follows: First, child care teachers' concerns and their role in improving children's creativity had a static correlation in total as well as in part. Second, child care teacher's concerns and their teaching efficacy had a static correlation in total as well as in part. In this study, we have concretely discussed the content and methods of child care teachers' education by analyzing child care teachers' requirements.

  • Whether This paper argues that teacher efficacy is an affective affiliate of pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) based on empirical data of a study on the nature and construct of PCK. This study was a collective case study utilizing qualitative research methods. The participants of the study were three high school science teachers in the U.S. Data was collected from multiple sources such as classroom observation, interviews, teachers' written reflection, students' work samples, and researchers' field notes. Data was analyzed using the "In-depth Analysis of Explicit PCK" developed by the author. Data analysis indicated that teacher efficacy played a critical role in developing PCK by facilitating the movement from PCK to the enactment of PCK.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide research results on how teacher background variables and teacher efficacy affect the teacher's instructional behavior of elementary school teachers in student participatory classes. A survey was conducted on 122 elementary school teachers in the G area and a regression analysis was conducted to analyze the relationship of influence between variables. As a result of the regression analysis, self-regulation efficiency and task difficulty preference had a significant impact on elementary teachers' instructional behavior. As for teaching knowledge, class motivation, which are sub-variable factors in class behavior, self-regulating efficacy had a higher influence than task difficulty preference and for class communication, task difficulty preference had a higher influence than self-regulating efficacy. Based on the results of the study, we considered ways to show desirable teaching behavior of elementary school teachers in student participatory classes.

  • This study aims to examine changes in teaching and learning conceptions and sense of efficacy as well as relationships between them. Data were collected from 121 Korean preservice teachers before and after a 4-week teaching practicum. The results indicated that constructivist conceptions of teaching and learning increased over the practicum period and teacher efficacy shifted as well. In addition, correlations among the constructs were strengthened over the practicum period. Interestingly, constructivist conceptions related to differentiated education were not significant, while traditional conceptions related to teacher-guided lessons were significant after the practicum. These results imply that Korean preservice teachers still place value on the traditional perspective, even though constructivism dominates the current educational policies of Korea.

  • The sense of happiness of early childhood teachers has a great influence not only on teaching but also on infants. The purpose of this research is to investigate how prospective pre-service teachers' sense of happiness influence their teacher professionalism and teacher efficacy. The subjects were 264 pre-service teachers' in Gwangju metropolitan city and Jeollanamdo province. Statistical analysis of this study was done by Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis using SPSS WIN 22.0 program. The results of this study were as follows. First, there were significant positive relationships among the sense of happiness on teacher professionalism and teacher efficacy. There was a significant positive correlation between external happiness, inner happiness, and self-regulated happiness, which are indicating that there is a meaningful correlation between pre-service teachers' sense of happiness, teacher professionalism and teacher efficacy. Second, the sense of happiness was an important factor for predicting the teacher professionalism and teacher efficacy of pre-service early childhood teachers. The results of this study show that the pre - service teacher 's sense of happiness is a predictor variable that positively affects teacher professionalism and teacher efficacy. In conclusion, It is meaningful in seeking ways to improve teacher education by enhancing the euphoria of prospective pre-service teachers during school life and strengthening positive aspects of the educational contents and processes of the institutions that train infant teachers.

  • This study examined the association among practical teaching competence (PTC) and teaching efficacy (TE), and explored the mediation effects of theoretical teaching competence (TTC) between the PTC and TE of Practical Arts (Technology and Home Economics Education) teachers. Data were collected from the 301 survey responses completed by elementary, middle, and high school teachers. All teachers showed high levels of PTC, TTC, and TE. Elementary school teachers perceived higher PTC than middle and high school teachers. PTC, TTC, TE showed significant effect in regards to teacher's age and teaching career. Using multiple regression analysis, this study found that TTC fully mediated PTC and TE of elementary school teachers. For middle and high school teachers, there was a partial mediation effect of TTC in the relationship between PTC and TE. This study suggests that teacher education programs should develop a program that can enhance teaching efficacy by cultivating TTC and support teachers who want to strengthen competence, and more practical opportunities to practice teaching.

  • The purposes of this study are to investigate the change in the teacher efficacy beliefs of elementary pre-service teachers in mathematics during the student teaching, and to suggest the direction of the student teaching program for improving the pre-service teachers' efficacy beliefs in mathematics. For this, 93 elementary pre-service teachers participated. After the 4 weeks of practice, any changes in their teacher efficacy beliefs in mathematics were analyzed and the positive and negative causes of the differences were discussed. Consequently, their teacher efficacy beliefs in mathematics meaningfully decreased. The analysis of the cause of the decrease indicated that the teacher efficacy beliefs in teaching mathematics, rather than in the management of their mathematics class, meaningfully decreased. The meetings with the subjects also revealed that they had more negative experience with class teaching and were not able to gain much positive experience with it after all.

  • Objective: The purpose of the present study is to develop a teacher efficacy scale of early childhood teachers and explore the validity and reliability of it. Methods: As the first step of this research, 17 teacher efficacy factors were extracted from previous studies on related areas and a survey from directors, teachers, and professors. The preliminary 83 items applicable to the chosen factors were developed and revised through content validity test from seven early childhood professionals, pilot test, item correction, main survey, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Four hundred seventy one teachers working in a kindergarten or day care center participated in this study. Results: The teacher efficacy scale for early childhood teachers was finalized with 3 factors and 23 items. The teacher efficacy scale was composed of 16 items in teaching competence, 4 items in interpersonal relationship, and 3 items in a sense of calling. Conclusion/Implications: In this study, the valid and reliable teacher efficacy scale was developed. This scale might be a useful tool to develop the further studies in the topics of teacher efficacy and teacher education by analyzing the relationship between efficacy of early childhood teachers and other variables.
