  • This study is to develop a strategy to prepare an improvement strategy according to the environmental change of the hotel. Currently, domestic hotels are implementing marketing through food and beverage as a countermeasure against the sales decrease, and in order to develop effective marketing plan, 5 Force Model environmental analysis and STP analysis are analyzed. 5 Force Model Environmental Analysis showed that domestic hotels are facing various difficulties such as the expansion of accommodation sharing system, the decrease of Chinese tourists due to the THAAD problem, the increase of hotels, the introduction of PMS, the increase of minimum wage, the introduction of 52 hours work week, and the increase in product preference As an STP response strategy to correspond these difficulties, it is necessary to develop products for the main customers of the hotel food and beverage, such as those in the 20s-30s, the workers, smartphones and SNS users. And also hotels should seek ways to lower price of the product to the level desired by the user to compete against substitutes. In conclusion we suggest that hotels are committed to fulfilling their role by meeting guest safety and COVID-19 compliance requirements, but a focus on immediate cleanliness and quarantine against infectious diseases, like Airbnb, will enable greater growth.

  • Investigators planning to use animals in their research and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) members who review the research protocols must take personal responsibility for ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties, applying the Three Rs principles of Russell and Burch. The two Korean laws introduced in 2008 and 2009 regulating animal use for scientific purposes in line with the Three Rs principles have been revised a total of 11 times over the last 6 years. Both regulatory agencies, e.g., the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, provide regular training based on the legal requirements. Based on the amended Animal Welfare Act, the IACUC appointment framework has been upgraded: appointments are now for two-year terms and require a qualified training certificate issued by the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency since 2012. The authors reviewed the current curricular programs and types of training conducted by the two governing agencies through Internet searches. Our Internet survey results suggest that: a) diversity should be provided in training curricula, based on the roles, backgrounds and needs of the individual trainees; b) proper and continued educational programs should be provided, based on trainees' experiences; and c) active encouragement by government authorities can improve the quality of training curricula.

  • In the field of environmental protection, close co-operation between Contracting Parties is strongly required and the reporting obligation under MARPOL 73/78 is playing an important role as a part of international co-operation for the environmental protection. In this paper, I review the meaning of reporting obligation under MARPOL 73/78 from the perspective of the international law, and investigate the status of implementation for the reporting obligation. For this purpose, I analyze status of implementation for last 10 years from 2001 to 2010 regarding reporting obligations under MARPOL 73/78 in accordance with MEPC/Circ.318. Finally, I suggest the way forward to improve Contracting Parties' compliance with reporting obligations through this analysis.

  • Due to its potential, the Internet of Things (IoT) begins to be used in the industrial field. Nevertheless, although the concept called the Industrial Internet of Things does not know a widely accepted definition, it is based on the existing technology, and introduces the IoT in the industrial environment through the compliance with specific additional requirements and by integrating various fieldbuses with distinctive features, from the real-time point of view. The aim of this paper is to propose a practical architecture for the Industrial Internet of Things. The proposed architecture is designed around the Data Distribution Service for Real Time System (DDS) middleware protocol, and it is organized on four levels. Between these levels, it is defined standard interface, and they can be developed independently. For this reason, the architecture is scalable because at the middleware level, the DDS can be replaced by other middleware systems. At the final, it is performed a comparison between several middleware systems used in the proposed architecture.

  • As ISO22301 (Societal security-Business continuity management systems-Requirements) related to BCM (BCP) was established in May 2012, KS A ISO22301 (National Standards) will be enacted at the end of the year. Foreign certification agencies at home and abroad are expanding their business, accordingly. And it is expected that there will be a trade barrier such as a demand for compliance with the Standards in the trade between companies. Hence I am trying to find the countermeasures of domestic companies and ways to invigorate Top Company Certification System in the reduction law (The Legislative bill on the support of voluntary activities of enterprises for disaster reduction).

  • Diabetes is caused by the lack of insulin secretion or the reduction in its sensitivity. The recent treatments for diabetes do not fulfill the requirements for the maintaining of normal blood glucose level. The most frequently used treatment for type I diabetes is an insulin injection. However, the insulin injection often involves the life-threatening risk and the low compliance of patients. Accordingly, extensive studies have been done to overcome the shortcomings of the injection. A representative approach is to employ self-regulated insulin delivery systems. This report includes the principles of glucose-responsive release in the self-regulated insulin delivery systems.

  • The study investigates the factors affecting the profitability of listed commercial banks in Vietnam. Survey data for this research were collected from 10 Vietnamese listed commercial banks for the period from 2008 to 2018. In the study, we have built a model of econometric regression with the dependent variable being listed commercial banks' profitability results measured through ROA. The research methods used include descriptive statistics, IV regression and OLS regression analysis, and the authors carried out the model verification with Stata 14 software. The results showed that operating efficiency, loans size, retail loans ratio, state ownership, inflation rate, and GDP growth are factors that have a positive impact on profitability On the other hand, variables such as capital size, credit risk, liquidity risk, bank size, and revenue diversification are statistically insignificant; hence, these variables are not statistically adequate to indicate the influence of those independent variables to banks' profitability. The findings of this study suggest that the quality of assets should be considered in the context that bad debt risks come from lending heavily to the real estate sector. Meeting Basel II's capital compliance requirements is relatively difficult for small listed commercial banks compared to bigger listed commercial banks in Vietnam.
