  • This paper deals with a modified repetitive control method for compensating automatic gauge control (AGC) to reduce the effect of skid mark which directly influence the quality of products in plate mill process. Since the skid mark on the plate have thermal difference, it makes a different stretching rate and deflection of thickness. Firstly, the (AGC) system and the plate mill process are described by considering function in each control levels. The skid mark of the plate in practical control fields is shown. Also, its frequency variation is given by on-line FFT analysis method. Secondly, a key idea of the modified repetitive control method with time varying period disturbance is represented and compared with standard repetitive control method. Lastly, in simulation ...

  • In this paper, a fuzzy tuning method of a control gain in the discrete-time repetitive controller is proposed for precise tracking control of a system whose reference signal is repetitive. The control gain is modified by fuzzy rules which use the magnitude and the variation ofthe maximum output error in the previous repetitive period. The proposed method is applied to a direct drive 2-axis SCARA-type robot and, it is illustratedby computer simulations and real-time experimentation that better performance can be obtained that the fixed gain-based repetitive controller.

  • Various risk factors affect construction projects. Due to the uncertainties created by risk factors, actual activity durations frequently deviate from the estimated durations in either favorable or adverse direction. For this reason, evaluation of schedule uncertainty is required to make decisions accurately when managing construction projects. In this regard, this paper presents a new computer simulation model - the Repetitive Schedule Risk Analysis Model (RSRAM) - to evaluate unit-based repetitive building project schedules under uncertainty when activity durations and risk factors are correlated. The proposed model utilizes Monte Carlo Simulation and a Critical Path Method based repetitive scheduling procedure. This new procedure concurrently provides the utilization of resources without interruption and the maintenance of network logic through successive units. Furthermore, it enables assigning variable production rates to the activities from one unit to another and any kind of relationship type with or without lag time. Details of the model are described and an example application is presented. The findings show that the model produces realistic results regarding the extent of uncertainty inherent in the schedule.

  • In order to utilize hydrodynamic drag force on articulated robots moving in an underwater environment, an optimum motion planning procedure is proposed. The drag force acting on cylindrical underwater arms is modeled and a directional drag measure is defined as a quantitative measure of reaction force in a specific direction in a workspace. A repetitive trajectory planning method is formulated from the general point-to-point trajectory planning method. In order to globally optimize the parameters of repetitive trajectories under inequality constraints, a 2-level optimization scheme is proposed, which adopts the genetic algorithm (GA) as the 1st level optimization and sequential quadratic programming (SQP) as the 2nd level optimization. To verify the validity of the proposed method, optimization examples of periodic motion planning with the simple two-link planner robot are also presented in this paper.

  • A modified repetitive control is formulated and analyzed in the discrete-time domain. Sufficient conditions for the stability of a class of repetitive controllers are given by means of the regeneration spectrum method. When a periodic signal input is drived into the two-mass-spring plant, the performance of the proposed controller which comprises a low-pass filter and two feed-forward compensators, turns out highly accurate by comparing the tracking result from the conventional LQ controller.

  • This paper proposes a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) control using a repetitive controller. Repetitive controllers are often used to eliminate periodic disturbances. Based on this, it is possible to alleviate the torque disturbance occurring at a constant cycle to the load of the motor. This paper proposes a method of rejecting periodically generated disturbances by using a repetitive controller and verified by simulation.

  • This paper describes a fully digitalized driver for BLDC motors and the driver is realized by a single chip microprocessor. The speed change can be done by using the signal obtained from the position detecting sensor and adjusting the pulse width at the input channel of power module. In order to verify the effectiveness, an repetitive control method is adopted in the speed control tracking a periodic reference change in the BLDC motor system. The experimental results are shown for the reference tracking accurately according to the design parameter variation in the repetitive controller design.

  • Automatic reclosing is a typical protection method in power distribution systems for the clearing of temporary faults. However, it has a fatal weakness in regards to voltage sags because it produces repetitive voltage sags. In this paper, we explored the repetitive impact of voltage sag due to the automatic reclosing of power distribution systems. The actual tests of low voltage loads were carried out for obtaining the susceptibility of voltage sags. The final results of the tests yielded power acceptability curves of voltage sag, and the curves transformed the 3-dimensional CBEMA (Computer Business Equipment Manufacturer Association) format. For the quantitative evaluation of the impact of repetitive voltage sags, an assessment formulation using the voltage sag contour was proposed. The proposed formulation was tested by using the voltage sag contour data of IEEE standard and the results of the test. Through the case studies, we verified that the proposed method can be effectively used to evaluate the actual impact of repetitive voltage sags.

  • This study introduces the characteristics and some applications of repetitive polypeptides, especially to the biomaterial, tissue engineering scaffolds, drug delivery system, and DNA separation systems. Since some fibrous proteins, which consist of repeating peptide monomers, have been reported that their physical properties are changed dramatically by means of temperature alteration or pH shifting. For that reason, fibrous protein-mimetic polypeptides, which are produced by the recombinant technology, can be applied to the diverse biological fields. Repetitive polypeptides can also be used in the bioseparation area such as DNA sequencing, because they make DNA separation possible in free-solution electrophoresis by conjugating DNA fragments to them. Moreover, artificial synthesis of repetitive polypeptides helps to demonstrate the correlations between mechanical properties and structures of natural protein polymer, which have been proven that repetitive domains are affected by the sequence of the repeating domains and the number of repeating subunits. Repetitive polypeptides can be biologically synthesized using some special cloning methods, which are represented here. Recursive directional ligation (RDL) and controlled cloning method (CCM) have been proposed as excellent cloning methods in that we can control the number of repetition in the multimerization of polypeptides and the components of repetitive polypeptides by either method.

  • This paper presents a proper parallel control method using a conventional control and a repetitive control for improving the output voltage waveform of uninterruptable power supply. Although first-order prediction control method shows a good characteristics to rectifier load, it is not sufficient to reduce steady state errors generated in nonlinear loads such as rectifier loads and phase controled loads. So we also employed a repetitive control method. A repetitive control method can eliminate steady state errors in the distorted output voltage caused by cyclic loads. The presented control scheme is verified through simulation and experiment. Experimental results Implemented on a single phase PWM inverter equipped with a LC output filter with 3 kVA, 60 Hz are shown.
