This paper proposes a real-time 3D visualization system for situational awareness of Air force operations. This 3D system of situational awareness supports a high-level commander of Air force during the war game operations. These situation aware supporting data such as the aircraft track data of radar, aircraft schedule database, map and satellite image data are integrated into one structured data and those are visualized as 3D structure. By using an Out-of-Core method, we can visualize a 3D huge data in real-time in mobile notebook environment. The experiment shows several examples of 3D visualization supporting situation awareness for Air force operation.

This study is to analyze the relationship between character and human semantic production through research on character visualization artworks and to develop a creative platform that visually expresses the formative and semantic dynamics of characters using the results will be. The 3D spatial interaction system using the character visualization proposed generates the transformation of the character in real time using the interaction with user and the deconstruction of the character structure. Transformations of characters including the intentions of the viewers provide a dynamic visual representation to the viewer and maximize the efficiency of meaning transfer by producing various related meanings. The method of dynamic deconstruction and reconstruction of the characters provided by this system creates special shapes that viewers cannot imagine until now and further extends the interpretation range of the meaning of the characters. Therefore, the proposed system not only induces an active viewing attitude from viewers, but also gives them an opportunity to enjoy watching the artwork and demonstrate creativity as a creator. This system induces new gestures of the viewer in real time through the transformation of characters in accordance with the viewer''s gesture, and has the feature of exchanging emotions with viewers.
In this paper, we present an algorithm which recognize hand shape in real time using only image without adhering separate sensor. Hand recognizes using edge orientation histogram, which comes under a constant quantity of 2D appearances because hand shape is intricate. This method suit hand pose recognition in real time because it extracts hand space accurately, has little computation quantity, and is less sensitive to lighting change using color information in complicated background. Method which reduces recognition error using principal component analysis(PCA) method to can recognize through hand shape presentation direction change is explained. A case that hand shape changes by turning 3D also by using this method is possible to recognize. Human interface system manufacture technique, which controls a home electric appliance or game using, suggested method at experience could be applied.

As DMB, 3D game, Internet and movie is serviced for the recent mobile devices, high resolution display devices beyond VGA become used. Implementation of real-time moving pictures of 30렌 by software programming is difficult because the performance of mobile processors is not so high. The full frame moving picture can be supported by using specific hardware. In this paper, an OLED controller that is consists of flash memory controller and OLED interface is proposed for real-time moving picture on mobile displays. The proposed OLED controller is implemented in FPGA and the performance is evaluated.

This paper introduces a real-time flocking simulation framework through radial basis function(RBF). The proposed framework first divides the entire environment into a grid structure and then assign a vector per each cell. These vectors are automatically calculated by using RBF function, which is parameterized from user-input control lines. Once the construction of vector field is done, then, flocks determine their path by following the vector field flow. The collision with static obstacles are modeled as a repulsive vector field, which is ultimately over-layed on the existing vector field and the inter-individual collision is also handled through fast lattice-bin method.

This paper presents a method that generates various facial expressions of vector graphic character by using the simplified principle component vector. First, we analyze principle components to the nine facial expression(astonished, delighted, etc.) redefined based on Russell's internal emotion state. From this, we find principle component vector having the biggest effect on the character's facial feature and expression and generate the facial expression by using that. Also we create natural intermediate characters and expressions by interpolating weighting values to character's feature and expression. We can save memory space considerably, and create intermediate expressions with a small computation. Hence the performance of character generation system can be considerably improved in web, mobile service and game that real time control is required.
This paper presents a motion generation technique for arbitrary morphologies with the user defined correspondences between joints. Users can define the controlling part in the source character and the part to be controlled in the target character in our system. To remove the restriction in the morphology of the target character, we use the pair of example posture sets. In our system, in order to provide the correspondence regardless of the number of joints, the deformed part in the target character is simplified into the direction vector. The final postures are then generated with the weighted sum of the examples. Our experimental results demonstrate that our approach can generate motions for various target characters and can control the user defined joints in real-time.
In this paper, we propose a novel database creation and retrieval method of feature descriptors to support real-time marker-less tracking in the augmented reality environments. Each feature descriptor is encoded by integer and multi-level database is created in order to retrieve a feature descriptor efficiently. The retrieval of a feature descriptor is performed as follows: Firstly, candidate feature descriptors are searched by traversing the multi-level database. Secondly, the euclidean distance between input feature descriptor and each candidate one is compared. The shortest one is retrieved. The proposed method is 16 ms faster than previous KD-Tree method for each feature descriptor.
Multiple layer displacement mapping methods are able to represent more complex and general geometries which cannot be presented by single layer displacement mapping methods, and provide a realistic scene to digital contents such as 3D games and movies with relatively low costs. However, as we use more layers for details, data space is wasted more because lower layers have less displacement data than higher layers. In this paper, we suggest a lossless compression and rendering method of a multiple layer displacement map. Since we compress the map without data loss, the proposed method provides the same quality as the rendering result that uses an original multiple layer displacement map.
We present a novel shadow culling algorithm for interactive ray tracing. Our approach exploits frame-to-frame coherence instead of preprocessing of building shadow data, so this algorithm is suitable for dynamic ray raying. In this algorithm, shadow processing results are stored to each primitive and used in the next frames. We also present a novel occlusion testing method. This method corrects potential shadow errors in our culling algorithm and requires low overhead. Experiment results show that our algorithm reduced both the traversal cost by 7-19 percent and the intersection cost by 9-24 percent.
